Metz is so heavy. I just discovered them and I'm shocked by the violence of the guitfiddling. They really up the ante on noise rock. I wish they had been out when I was in high school. How does he come up with those riffs? Meaty distortion sound. I wish I could play second guitar for them. xoxoxo
The feedback reminded me of “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter” by Nirvana, then I read that Steve Albini produced this album. Dig it so far. Definitely appreciate the rawness of it all.
Great album!!! I didn't tought you were able to reinvent yourselves but I was really wrong, fortunately. Some songs like Catterpillar and Sink have a fantastic atmosphere, reminds me the best of Sonic Youth. This is a perfect mix of Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, but sounds so unique, sounds like METZ!! 00:00 Mess Of Wires 03:28 Drained Lake 06:34 Cellophane 10:48 Caterpillar 14:01 Lost in the Blank City 18:29 Mr. Plague 21:08 Sink 24:58 Common Trash 28:13 Escalator Teeth 29:00 Dig a Hole 30:15 Raw Materials Please make a tour in BRAZIL guys!!!! I made all my friends know you hahaha
This is a really good album. I only just heard it in late 2018 and it's still growing on me more and more every time I listen to it. Also, the drum patterns are....nice, nails it for me. I remember finding myself copying patterns/riffs from the first album on an old friends drum kit while messing around by accident, it was a fun sound to try to emulate and play with (and broke through a kind of "barrier" we were stuck between musically for a long time).
I absolutely adore some of the new sounds they're exploring on this album. Caterpillar, Lost in Blank City, Sink, and Raw Materials are all totally mindblowing.
They've done it again! I don't know how, but they've done it again! Three cheers for Alex, Chris and Hayden. I'm buying you all a pint when you come and play the UK in November! This is just the best day ever. I may have to tidy my place up after trashing it though out of sheer joy, hehe.
YEAH BABY ! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALBUM . STILL THEY KICK MAJOR ASS , ENERGY LIKE THE SUN. I GOT IT CRANKED SO LOUD I HAVE TO USE ALL CAPS JUST TO HEAR MYSELF HAHAHA
Steve Albini and METZ is the unholiest marriage. Sick, bro

It's OK, but just a bit more 'comfortable' than all of those bands
More "comfortable" than Nirvana? Hardly. Not a single on this thing.

METZ is one the best Noise rock bands of all time, period

Great guitar sound and up feeling to the whole album with just a dash of darkness. Thumbs up.
great woozy riffage, with a bit more uptempo vibe, also digging the john lydon-eque vocals. metz rock
God damn. This album kicked my ass right from the beginning. It's fucking insane.
It is. Cheers

real drums, real guitar, real bass, real studio, real music, really GOOD. Rock and roll roll without the suicides.
Steve Albini is immediately recognizable...
Badazz shizz. You hear Fugazi, Jehu, Hot Snakes...rhythm section is great, very early Trans Am. I hear Blue Tip? Slint. Arab on Radar. Really great.
Great job guys, this record is kicking my ass. Love it.
Happy to just have recently discovered these gents!
Been waiting for an Albini produced METZ album since I first heard them in 2012. The day is finally here.
it's funny how noone has mentioned Voivod as an ifluence especially these guys being from Canada...
Definitely! Especially the first track, it sounds like something you could hear on a Voivod record.
stop whining
Voivod yes definitely 😵😱😌

Mess of Wires feels like if Tetsuo The Iron Man were a noise punk song.

Так звучит будущее хорошей гитарной музыки. Все остальные обреченны скатится в унылую ссанину.
