@@altruistic6081 they actually do learn medicine. And everytime you ask them for liquid medicine (especially in homeopathy) they actually mix the medicine according to prescription. Do you know how dangerous it can be if the percentage of med changes while mixing? Pharmacists, nurses, dentists are underappreciated a lot but they actually learn a lot too.
@@altruistic6081 actually we do. Doctors obviously know more about the disease but we know more about the medicines. A medicine is not just the active ingredient you know, there are other excipients involved which actually affect the action of the api, and doctors dont know about them. We also learn the chemical structure of every drug and different functional groups and their positioning affects pretty much everything. So yes, pharmacists know way more about the medicines .
@@Hithere03 There's a lot of difference between knowing chemical structure and prescribing medicines. As I already mentioned both are unique in their own field and I don't disrespect any profession. I have seen pharmacists who think they know everything and can prescribe anything they want. I would tell you one story. An acquaintance of mine had conjunctivitis and the pharmacist prescribed steroid eye drops. There was deterioration and later the doctor said it's beyond repair and the patient became blind. Later they removed one of his eyes. There are many such incidents I know where the pharmacist goes on to think himself to be a doctor since he/she studied just about the medicine without knowing what implications it could have on the disease.

U have a very wrong perception about pharmacists... Man we study 5 years as hard as MBBS... We not just know where the medicine is kept... But also how it is made.. What type of drug us used and also the amount of that drug.... We have to study the anatomy of every single part of the body with is physiology and pathology.... The only competent of an MBBS in market is a pharmacist... Bcz he has been licensed to give u the prescription and the medication at the same time💯

Hey there. .. I'm a b.pharma graduate and now an MBA .. you really need to up your Gk and general awareness level... A pharmacist only gets a license to open a pharmacy after studying hard for 4 years... We study pharmacology. Biochem and medicinal chemistry from same books as MBBS students... So our degree ain't just about where the medications is be kept

but in Kerala we call it Pharmacy or Medical Store. Though i have seen some places have the "Chemist and Druggist" written in small letters underneath the store name. But we definitely call all of them Pharmacy or Medical Store and the people who work there as Pharmacist. its my first time hearing them being called Chemist. the wonders of India. each place is different and unique in its own way XD

I'm a pharmacy final year student and gng to complete my UG nxt month and it's really difficult to do this...trust me just Medicinal chemistry and pharmacology subjs are enough to destroy all the happiness in life...we read loots of drugs than docs it's true!!! We are the ppl who discovers new drug molecules and manufactures all medicines and also does R&D works as well...we actually learn and do lots of stuff other than pharmacy shops. Hope u all the people respects all professions.
FUN FACT: pharmacists are the ppl who are manufacturing all the different types of medicines starting from vit-tabs to anti-biotics ur using right now in this covid pandemic...so hope we will able to serve the nation in every situation and this pandemic would end soon.

There can be different names for the same thing in English. For eg, in India we use two words to describe the machine installed in buildings which takes us across floors: Lift or Elevator. The former comes from British English while the latter from American English.

The guy sitting in a pharmacy jz a qualified person either with a Diploma Pharmacy degree (3 yrs) or Bachelor Of Pharmacy (4 yrs) or Doctor of Pharmacy (6 yrs ). S/he are sometimes more qualified than a MBBS / MD in terms of Knowledge in Medicine. So they are not just a random person who never went to Medical School. No offence , get your facts corrected. They are known as Pharmacist.
