Haha yeah, and honestly I'm a silver liner by nature, so I'm excited to meet the new folks. I just have to get used to the format of a new group each series. I'm sure by Season 6 I'll be ready to change casts like a waiter turning tables at Chili's.
@@DavidvsFilm every season end is still bittersweet for me as we say goodbye to a cast and then by episode 2 of the next series I'm all in on another cast.
@@DavidvsFilm 😄😄So excited to rewatch with you. It is so difficult to not force this upon friends. Although now i watch other countries ones too and enjoy them just as much. Just got into a binge session and watched the 2024 special fully. I was so hooked with the cast i wanted them on a full series. Alex got used so much in a good way😅
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but there's some funny trivia about the team of three's "behind the scenes" task. They were fake recording themselves counting food. Josh suggested that they do a fake counting task, because, from his lone task, he thought counting was a major part of the show. On the day, Romesh and Lady R didn't understand why he suggested that, until they saw his counting tasks in the studio. I believe either Josh or Romesh talked about this on the taskmaster podcast. OH and another bean fact: Josh won the series against Romesh by one point. When the final score was revealed, Romesh under his breath muttered something like "the fucking bean!"
For me, the most impressive thing about Taskmaster is how they nailed everything right from the first episode. As other versions of Taskmaster have proved, Greg Davies was the perfect choice for the role of the Taskmaster, and even after 17 seasons, the format has never changed. The budget may have increased and the seasons may be longer, but apart from that the latest episode is identical to the first.
Each Taskmaster series is always going the same way for me: Ep 1: Who are these people? I never heard of most of them. Ep 2 or 3: I love these people so much. Last Ep: I do not want this series to end ever. New series Ep 1: it starts again You‘re definitely in for a treat with S2.
If I remember correctly, Josh comes back for literally one task in the future. They needed the teams to have even numbers rather than a 2 and a 3 so he filled in
Your Lady R, Roisin, is on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown a lot there's probably a compilation of her being her insane self or something somewhere you'd probably enjoy 😂😂😂
There is actually!! I found one that I wanted to watch after this series/season was over :) I have to test it though- if the compilation is as user-friendly as the Graham Norton compilations, then we’re good here on TH-cam. If not, then I probably can’t.
Alex and Greg were amazing during lockdown they actually put out some tasks to do at home and they were really family friendly and people submitted their videos and Greg judged them, they might still have compilations on their youtube channel but it was a real bright spark in all the difficulty seeing people having fun at home 😊
If you're into board games, the Taskmaster one is really good too! Not just sitting around either, but things like gather the most some sort of things in a set time. Good fun!!
This may have come up in comments already. TM is currently aired on Channel 4 here in the UK. 17 seasons ago Alex pitched the idea to C4 who felt it didn't have the legs to become a success. Consequently, Dave took it on, and it became apparent that the show was becoming very popular. Fast forward a few seasons, and who comes knocking on the door? None other than C4. They wanted in. Each season of the cast brings a different and hugely enjoyable dynamic. You'll come to love 'em all.
After 5 seasons they do a sort of "stand alone" 1 or 2 episodes called "Champion of Champions" where they get all the winners to compete 😂. So you see the winners again....if their schedule allows 😂😂
@@DavidvsFilmThere are now 3 x 'Champion of Champions' episodes starring the winners of S1 - 5; S6 - 10 & S11 - 15. They're only 1 episode each, but very funny. Plus you'll be familiar with all the contestants, so it's interesting seeing the dynamics. Enjoy! 💜 Looking forward to S2... -x-
I’m sure others have said this, but season 2 episode 1 has one of the BEST and most iconic tasks! I’ve watched it so many times I’ve lost count and I never not laugh! I’m so excited for you to keep watching!
You might enjoy watching The Horne Section (Alex Horne’s comedic music group) on a show called The Last Leg or on Eight Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown…there’s also Johnny Vegas on The Last Leg (which is a comedy current affairs show that Josh Widecombe is one of the presenters of).
Alex likes to out himself in these positions where he has to potentially eat something absolutely horrific and like he writes the tasks so I can't feel too sorry for him 😂
As the one handing out the rules while they are in the room, he could easily say "no, dog food isn't an ingredient" but he goes with it. Goes to show how fair he can be.
Usually contestants don't come back but there is a two-part "Champion of Champions" special where the winners of series 1-5 come back to compete against each other. There are also single-part specials for the series 6-10 and 11-15 winners. There have also been a couple of times where previous contestants had to fill in during the live audience sections for someone who was sick.
That's the beauty of the show. Generally speaking, the casting for each series is really good - so whilst you'll miss the guys from series 1, you've still been introduced to them (and can follow their other work if they made a big impression), whilst you've a further 5 new faces to look forward to discovering with each fresh series to come. 😊 Even the majority of UK viewers aren't normally fully familiar with everyone at the beginning of a series, as the show often tends to introduce one of two 'slightly less mainstream' contestants most seasons, who have often been under the radar of those not hugely into following the UK comedy scene. How is it possible, with the inclination of the American TV industry to “borrow” from popular UK television, that a version of Taskmaster hasn’t appeared here? I can just imagine the cast of Who’s Line Is It Anyway, for example, tackling some of these kinds of tasks to hilarious effect. Of course, Americans tend to be wildly competitive, so we would need a capable master who could keep everyone in line. Think Oprah wants a job? Bring on season 2 and the new players, I’ll be right here with you! Peace .. (P.S. I loved Josh having to do the counting challenges too.)
There was one season of an American version in 2018, with Reggie Watts as Taskmaster, and Alex as Alex. It didn't really work. There are more successful version running in e.g New Zealand and Norway.
I get attached to the cast every single season, despite not knowing most of them when it starts. Great thing about later seasons is that they're a bit longer and you get to hang out with them for more episodes.
@DavidvsFilm The only American I can remember is Desiree Burch, she was very good, but I think she's lived here a while and "got" how it works. There was an American version with Reggie Watts as the Taskmaster and Alex as himself, but it was dreadful, they cut it to half-hour episodes and none of the contestants really understood it apart from Freddie Highmore, cos he's English. The 2 ladies on it, Lisa Lampanelli and Kate Berlant, took an obvious dislike to Alex almost immediately and let him know it. It hasn't been tried there again.
I know that you love Lady R., but there are so many spectacular female contestants. In particular, I can’t wait for you to meet Jessica Knappet, Fern Brady, and Lucy Beaumont. But there are a dozen other wonderful ones.
I think Josh deserved to win simply because of his commitment in having GREG's name tattooed on his foot! That was funny as hell, and Greg's reaction (licking his finger and trying to wipe it off, and then looking at Josh abd asking, "Is it real?", followed by gales of laughter) was one of the best Taskmaster reactions ever! 🤣🤣🤣
Its funny you say you would pay good money to tour the place.. It made the news that it was available to rent as a residential property for £4,500 per month. Forget exactly where it is but think it is somewhere like Surrey, not too far from Windsor so crazy London commuter belt money. Only 3 bedrooms too
It’s in Chiswick in the London area. You can find it on Google maps. I am not aware that you can rent it. But if you pop by, someone is there and they are not filming they might show you around. Several fans have been there. There were also proposals and stuff like that. Alex and Greg say it’s a boring place, because it’s tiny. Greg said on a podcast it would be more interesting to come to his house ;)
You can’t rent it, nobody has been able to rent it stay there since taskmaster used it- I’m not sure if they own it now or they still rent it. But so far as tour goes, they film there all the time and edit and plan there too so it’s pretty much always occupied by the taskmaster crew, I think they film tasks for 3 series a year at this point
I think the U.S. pronunciation as ZEE is because it makes the "Alphabet Song" rhyme. 🎶A B C D E F GEEEE H I J K LMNO PEEEE🎵 🎶Q, R, S, T, U, VEEEEE W, X, Y and ZEEEEE🎵 The pronunciation of the letter H as "aitch" in the U.S. and as "haitch" in the U.K. also baffles me.
Welcome to the Taskmaster cycle "who are these?....ohhh i see....ok i love then...aww I'll miss them" 😂

Z = zest of a lemon
ahhh yes, and zucchini
Z= zipper of Henry Cavill, open and ready for grasping with a hint of desperation
David uzo is a greek spirit tasting of aniseed/licorice
Thank you!! I probably would not like that then haha.
I love this show! Are you going to watch the series 2 soon?
Dave is the name of a channel in UK.
"zeee" is also confusing because it sounds like c..
I think the U.S. pronunciation as ZEE is because it makes the "Alphabet Song" rhyme.
🎶A B C D E F GEEEE
H I J K LMNO PEEEE🎵
🎶Q, R, S, T, U, VEEEEE
W, X, Y and ZEEEEE🎵
The pronunciation of the letter H as "aitch" in the U.S. and as "haitch" in the U.K. also baffles me.
