My great grandfather William Lindsey took part in the siege with the 47th Indiana Infantry in Veatch’s division. We visited Fort Blakey a few years back and really enjoyed it. The park staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially when I mentioned ancestors involvement.
I hope that I'll be able to meet y'all this year for the 158th Blakely anniversary while our event is going on. Y'all have been a pleasure to listen to.
Wow. I went to Fort Blakeley in 2009. Awesome place. Definitely a creepy haunted place. Felt like Cold harbor. some of the best preserved earthworks from the Civil war.
I have lived all my life down in Mobile and on the Mississippi Coast and been a minor Civil War buff since high school some 50+ years ago and never grasped the significance of Ft Blakeley and the battle there. I recently read a book titled Fourteenth Colony which was the British colony extending from the Florida Panhandle over to the Mississippi River excluding the New Orleans area. I just checked my copy of Fourteenth Colony and the author is.....Mike Bunn.
Hello American Battlefield Trust and thanks for your videos ! Sorry for my english (i'm french). Could you please make a video about an animated map of the civil war summarized in 30 minutes or a video which summarize the war of 1812 in 10 minutes ?
@@AmericanBattlefieldTrust Hello and thank you. Could you please send me the link of the 27-Minute civil war animated map because I don't manage to find it.

Great tour of old Fort Blakey. Gods narrative. Thank you for sharing! 💯👊👍
This was excellent. Mike Bunn gives a solid and thoughtful tour.
Interesting history lesson about Mobile. Civil War classes I have taken very seldom speak of Alabama defense posture. Thanks!!!
Thanks guys. My wife and I visited Fort Blakeley and Magnolia Cemetery today and really enjoyed both. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for posting
Thank you. I was unaware of this late battle in the war.
This was extremely interesting and I must candidly confess my ignorance on the topic. Great stuff, gentlemen.
A direct ancestor of mine fought at Fort Blakeley - and LOST.
Which is good.
