      I was a bit freaked out by it too, but there's a very specific walk through in the app that takes you step by step through everything. You'll do great!

      @@ShellyWutke604 I did it and it worked great. Now...can You tell me how to sinc it with my Google home mini? Have a Very Merry Christmas.

      @@jfauntl1 That's great! To add it to your Google Home you need to add in the Google Home app. It should search for the device on its own and ask you if you want to add it. If you Chromecast you can watch your Nest cam on your TV too. You can just say, Hey Google, show me Nest Hello on my Chromecast, and it will pop up. It's pretty cool. Have a very Merry Christmas!

      For my doorbell wiring? @@jimklemens5018 I live in an old farmhouse. That's how it was wired so that's what I had to work with. All of the wiring to connect the Nest came with the kit.

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Klemens I guess they installed the door bell before I moved in? I have no idea and didn’t even think of it. Does it really matter?
      And yes, the hole in the door frame is fresh because we connected the nest door bell.

    Thanks Shelly. Do you know if the wires in the chime are interchangeable? As in, after we connect it to the Nest piece, could we put either of the extenders into the Trans and Front points?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have my doorbell open to take a peek, but from what I can remember the wires for front and trans were interchangeable. It worked the first time I connected it. I also know the Nest app gives you different instructions depending on your doorbell wiring.

    Hi - using the Google app, I’m not sure how to give them access to the nest google doorbell. I only see option to ‘invite home member’. But that gives them permissions to add and remove people. This is something I would not want. Any idea what else I can try?

      If you open the Nest app you'll see different doorbell configurations. You can choose which one is most like your own doorbell and the app will walk you through set up.

      I don’t think that’s the transformer, I think she misspoke. That is the chime. I think her transformer is in the attic or utility room.

      I watched your video again and it still looks yellowish orange and or over saturated..maybe it has something to do with the color of your outside wall..

    The nest failed in the door bell transformer .. it’s so dumb to connect those wires into those plastic pill shape plastic things . Trying to push those in was very annoying . We had the Ring and it was easier . And then we have to pay to pay for storage ? Why ? We already payed 100-150 and the stupid door bell . This ain’t the PlayStation network where we can play online for 50 per year so why the heck am I going to pay for storage ? It should be free and included with the damn doorbell .

    • @roberth5706
      @roberth5706 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I understood from a Nest video, when inserting the wires into the Nest dongle connections (the pill shaped things) you squeeze the ends and it opens up slightly for an easier insertion.

      I'm not sure what you're talking about. I followed the instructions Nest provided to the letter. Wiring this doorbell was extremely simple, so I don't get your comment at all.
