How do we get a reaction by you for HYNN's Killing Voice? Still waiting for ANY vocal coach to react to HYNN's Killing Voice. It's hard to believe that no vocal coach has reacted to one of the best female vocalist in South Korea; probably the best female vocalist considering she is only 24.
As 14 years old i'd say hyein has a great potential as a singer her tone pleasing too
Yes. Newjeans doesnt have a fix position, and that was a good thing because in my opinion they have good if not great singing and dancing skills.

@paige antiquera actually no. It's more done in a way where they don't rely on Main Vocalist, Rapper, Dancer to consider.
Basically they are way more flexible when it comes to line distribution and overall concept of the song and comeback
Ah thank you for pointing out the stylistic fry. Was searching for terms to characterize NJ vocal color. That fry and the range they stay in supports the concept: very accessible...songs high school girls can sing to with ease (not like the run filled Aguilera teen days, amiright?). Very appealing.
That said, I hope they try harmonizing in the future, especially on "Attention". I think their debut "it's live" they take turns singing the chorus solo, but it could be so nice for the whole group to support. Would love to see that growth!
P.s Might you have time to review Le Serrafim live? Same parent company, but different concept. To my mind, NJ's older, bolder "sisters". Ty!

They fry a lot because it's what's comfortable(working on low register) at the moment... Hyeins part where she 'disconnected' is impressive! She's not lacking, she can very well 'connect' it but she chooses to show personality. And the end note of woohoohoo is very well executed by hyein, not everyone can get that same tone even the best singers
I don’t think she has to be perfect now at 14 to acknowledge that she is a good singer. I don’t think the disconnect was intentional, but this is true live singing and she has room to grow is all.
@@JessieBanana fully agree. 14 is incredibly young and so much space for development - physical and emotional. She is doing very well in situation where most kids would crumble under the stress.
@@Katriinka I’d love for you to react to the video they just put out recording Ditto and OMG. I don’t know much about vocal music, I come from orchestral music, so I find this all so interesting. Why some sounds invoke certain feelings or add depth.
I really enjoyed this comparison! I like the live version a lot more and I always learn so much from Kat's analysis! I think that much more personality and vocal colors come through on the live version.

What makes New Jeans different from most of the other 4thG GG is the accessibility of that lower register, it is comfortable and almost conversational, but comes through clearly. It feels very personal and intimate. The other GGs have a lot of over-production, cinematic or choir quality, with a lot of change in tempo, style, genre, etc musically. It's not intimate, is made to impress. New Jeans is fresh, but comfortable as an old pair of Jeans. The retro Synth/Electric Piano, the minimalist instrumentation, often in mid-tone domination rather than high or bass, allows theirs voices to feel clean and friendly and close to you. This combined with newer style electronic mix intros (most noticeable on Hype Boy), and their energetic ,almost High School Cheerleader Choreos, with the throwback Synth makes them attractive to young and old.
The fry sounds so satisfying to me i like it.

About not belting or some things they chose for their song I really get you, as a vocal coach you really would love to listen them do belting and show off a bit more (and I'd love that too because I know they're able to do everything ^^), but it's more of an artistic-concept kind of decision to give their unique NewJeans vibe. I loved your analysis on their voices, it's really nice that people like you are able to explain what is happening, they are all vocals, dancers and visuals and that's just amazing for young girls like them because they have so much time to keep improving
Maybe I missed it scrolling through your videos, but AKMU Suhyun is another KPOP vocalist that should be on your radar. You could react to her Solarsido part switch TH-cam video with Mamamoo's Solar. Or you could react to some of her 'healing' performances during the pandemic on the show 'Sea of Hope' with Blackpink's Rose and Shinee's Onew.
Actually, now that I mention it, Onew is worthy of a deep dive as well.
New Jeans songs are refreshing. This song entry in Billboard hot100. They just debut last year.
New Jeans are so easy on the ears and eyes. They are so natural and very refreshing.
They're young enough to get a lot better. They already sound good. I would advise they use more vibrato on the last syllables of their singing. Their technical singing will develop more I'm sure.

Omg you need to watch and react to their latest video on recording Ditto and OMG!
It might be just me looking too much into it, but I think the official music video version might've opted to keep the airy sound throughout due to the plot behind the mv. Since the girls, or rather all of kpop, are meant to be illusory and not grounded in real life, the tone might've been chosen to emphasize how it's not real
Loving your reaction and explanation! Wondering if you can also peek at Park Jiwon and Hayoung at Lee Mujin Service. I always think they're great singers but so underrated. Would love to know your opinion about their vocal 🥰

In Lee Munji show, Hanni said that they didn't have any vocal coach to sing their song, so I think they just follow their instinct (?) making it not too good but not bad either 😂 i dunno how to explain it clearly but yeah... their voice is beautiful but their technique is not too professional
Since it’s a very big company they do have vocal coach. Hani mentioned that they don’t use vocal guide in order to avoid following the style of the guide in singing the song. This is very true though when i sing girl group songs, i sometimes follow the style of the original singer even without background vocals. It is just imprinted into my subconcious haha. For example when i sing red velvet songs, when all of them have different singing styles. I tend to change my singing styles mimicking them throughout the song :o i would go cheerful on joy’s parts, full power in seulgiand wendy’s parts, soft on yeri’s and straight up boss on irene’s 😅😅

@@kant.68 ok so as far as I understand, vocal guide is a person who will give NJs a guideline of how they can sing the song that the company give them. Somehow, I think it can affect the girls, like they may imitate of their vocal guide and lost their own color. That's why Hanni feel pretty cool when they don't have any vocal guide for both their debut and comeback song. On the other hand, vocal coach is like a daily teacher training their vocal... I guess =))) like someone who will teach them how to breath while singing, how to improve their voice and how to avoid crack and strain,...

@@kant.68 when they get a new song, there will be a vocal guide singing that song first. If you watch any produce101 series, you will see when they get a new song, they have other ppl singing their song for them first before recording it using their voice. This is what we call vocal guide.

The Unnies oldest are Minji, Hanni, Danielle, the maknae youngest is Hyein 14 years then Haerin who has cat eyes but i was so shocked when i find out who is the youngest maknae i thought it's Minji or Hanni they looks like 14 years but nope it's Hyein, i was so shocked she looks so mature, like 17 years and Hyein is the tallest in Newjeans

I think you should do a analysis of Park Jinyoung's vocals, he just released an album (Before his enlistment In March) And his vocals are so unique and nice! I'd love to hear your opinions and thoughts. The best songs to listen to would be the single 'Letter' and a B-Side song 'Our Miracle'

newjeans doesnt have any fixed positions except for main dancer! hanni was introduced as their “primary” dancer, but i also think shes their best vocalist 😁😁
I saw their interview with the manager, and they didn't have any vocal trainer because this might affect their voice originality. However, they still did great! They're very young and I believe they will develop their talent beautifully along the way.

Hello, a “no fixed position” gang here too… all through my years of being a kpop fan, “position” are something that i still cant understand why it exist 😐
I'm weeks late here. I love the song. This group is really introducing a new trend.
But.. they are far from perfect. This song sounds very beautiful but i would say it's post production. Very nice of you to compare studio n live performance. Because live is where it gets real. See that they didn't do choreo singing live. So that they could carry their vocals. If they did the choreo, it would be lipsync most of the time. That low register will die in their exhaustion. Even the jump n descend will disappear.
Im not saying they are bad. They are really young n have so much space to develop n grow. The tone they carry now will change by the age. We often see singers avoid singing their earlier songs because they were much younger n their tone was different.
They’ve performed ditto while dancing live before lol. Not a stable performance but I’m still proud of them because they’re rookies and doing better than a lot of older groups, who lip sync to the easiest of songs .
@@auxray5382 good to know that. I can imagine them singing it live unstable. But it is good if they make the effort. Im not asking for perfection, the effort is already gold. Years ahead of them, they can learn n grow so much.

I'm a Newjeans'fan i love them, did you know some occidental youtuber boycott Newjeans before they debuted and because of their CEO Min hee jin who was the marketing director of SM and now she created her own label: Ador. And occidental youtuber essay didn't want minors like Hyein as 14 years. Kpop target is teenagers
Their voices are very samey. Very pleasant, but none of them has a unique tone. Their songs are surprisingly forgettable. No grabbing hooks. No bridge breaks that revive the song. Yes, the music videos are works of art. But you have to have the songs.

I find that the songs aren't there yet. Maybe one day. I could have put "I find that.." at the beginning of the first comment. One of the reasons that people enjoy their performance here in Korea is they are all great dancers as well, showing 1990's pure Hip-Hop in their 'OMG'm which gives some nostalgia and vibes of that time to those in their forties or fifties. Their dance move in their dance practice video in OMG is marvelous.😀 Of course, I like their songs.
