In the absence of an official rule, I'd say you move it a discs length away from the edge.

I really want this game. Played regular Catacombs at PAX Unplugged, really liked that as well, but this seems like a shorter game, so I would probably play it more often

I have Catacombs but I have never actually played it. I did play Catacombs and Castles but I found the rules to be not very clear and it took a while to figure them out. This one does seem like something more portable.
