Am I the only one who doesn't hate the graphics?
wow the the attention to detail with the little drone thing deactivating the shields is amazing!! This game is really well thought out.
Nintendo should actually listen to what the gamers want *sigh* The 3DS and the older consoles are the only reason I'm still a Nintendo fan.
Besides Starfox (which was good but nothing too impressive) Most of the other games they showed were something we already knew about. They murdered Metroid by giving us a Metroid FIFA edition, Amibo crap etc. I wanted some surprises. I think Nintendo is buying some time with these games as they prepare for their next console NX
P MF ThatStrangeDoll I wouldn't be so disappointed with a spinoff title if Metroid was in it's hot periods but after 5 years they gave us this, fans are like "I DIDN'T WAIT 5 YEARS FOR THIS?" I'm not gonna sign that petition since I'll trust that Next Level Games will still make this a fun little title.
2016 marks as Metroid's 30th Anniversary so I hope Nintendo does announce a proper Metroid Game.
The Headless Guitarist understandable. but there probably wont be until at least 2017 according to some interviews.
P MF Petitions like these are pretty pointless, just let the game become a major flop and make Nintendo realize not to pull off a stunt like this next time.
chapinmc2 funfact. this is a reimagining of the n64 game which itself is a reimagining of the snes game.
The game is designed to run at 60 displaying full 3d on both the gamepad and tv. The graphics are going to suffer. Strangely enough, I have a PC, I don't play console games to be blown away by sub par graphics. Nintendo does deliver some gorgeously stylized games and I'll admit I'm sad this isn't more stylized but as an adultt who played Star Fox 64 18 years ago and was blown away by it, that wasn't the first thing on my mind. I just thought it looked like fun, remember fun? If this is a worthy sequel, which by all accounts it looks to be, I'll be happy.
Watanuki Productions nowadays games are all about how shiny/dusty/pixelated something is.
Watanuki Productions I'd much rather play a game that has average graphics, but runs smoothly than a game that looks super pretty, but runs like crap.
Idk, I was honestly hoping for some flashy looking stuff. I understand simplifying graphics to achieve a good frame rate for some games, but for something like star fox where there's the potential for intense space battles and ground warfare to be unfolding I'd just rather it look pretty. I seriously don't understand this obsession with going back to 64 art style and gameplay. It almost looks like an upscaled 3ds game in some respects as it is. As far as I'm concerned this isn't a legitimate evolution of this series.
Watanuki Productions This doesn't look like fun, it looks cumbersome. Like you have to work to enjoy it.
Anthony White who said anything about work?
Remember guys, you're looking at an unfinished product. Shigeru Miyamoto's reputation as a perfectionist means that by December 2015 and this game hits shelves, it'll be a superior experience to what you've seen here.
I'm going to hold judgement and wait until release to see what Starfox Zero holds.
It the looks bad closer to launch date then we can worry but for now let's just enjoy the fact that we are getting a real starfox THIS YEAR.
clay jack absolutely I'm glad and grateful to be getting a new Starfox game. Now I just have to not get too excited for five more months.
clay jack See I'd agree with you, but with 5 months or so before release I cant see a major graphical overhaul or change at this point. The last few months are mainly just polishing things up, not major textures or graphical changes. If they can change it to look amazing by then, then I'll be very happy, but so far it looks like a late gamecube/wii game in terms of textures.
My new idea is that this is from much early in development they wanted something playable at e3 so they whipped up a few levels for the event they went back to polishing the game, this build might be from like 3 or 4 months ago we just don't know.
clay jack I hope you are right. Cos if this is how it actually looks at the moment in development then thats extremely worrying. Platinum usually have such a good reputation for beautiful games like MadWorld, Okami (at least thats the same team that worked on it), The Wonderful 101, and Bayonetta 1 and 2. If this doesn't at least look as good visually as Bayonetta 1 I'll be disappointed.
having platinum games collab with Nintendo, makes this so much more interesting to me
i can't wait to see the final game!! thank you platinum games for helping out
I really hope this game's visuals improve greatly before it's release. Right now it just kind of looks like an HD Wii game.
I was expecting way uglier graphics by the way people were talking about them. But they look really good to me, especially in the landmaster level. I'm actually worried by the lack of action.
Rhidalgo789 Looks like a decent amount of action to me, Gyro Wing aside.
Cheeseman I'm not sure. It seems to me that they lowered the difficulty due to the motion controls. I hope I'm wrong.
Rhidalgo789 don't worry it's platnium games they always deliver the action
Rhidalgo789 I think this is because the levels are not finished yet
samfdigital Also probably because they are only showing early levels in the demo.
I actually like the graphics... I think that certain textures look outdated, but for the most part, it looks quite good to me.
Jt23 Yeah it works with the art style, I mean Starfox has never been ultra-realistic with the art style, they've always had a slight cartoon vibe to them.
eclecticmuso yeah looks decent. Totally
***** Yeah I've never seen the appeal of gyro aiming in games either, it seems cumbersome having to move the controller all over the place.
***** yeah. Only outdated textures on rocks, grass, mountains etc. looks overall decent otherwise. I'm not really too thrilled about the gyro aiming though
Jt23 Yeah I understand people's concern with the graphics, but I'm more worried about whether the gyro is required to aim, I don't mind as long as it's optional.
looks great
i want this game so bad ahhhh
Im ryusouta i have that comic cover.
The first mission in this video was so cool! I love the little robot thing and how his perspective is on the gamepad!
I love the timing of the "Game and System Sold Separately" as the Gyrowing drops the little robot. So far I'm digging the Gyrowing. Looks like it'll be a fun way to break up the non-stop action moments and give you some time to take it slow.
Hey people, please say nothing negative about Star Fox, or do you want that Nintendo close the comment section again? Please be nice to Nintendo... ;-)
Super Mino Thats so true i am so angry about Nintendo. I sleept and thought how could Nintendo be so kind to there Fans. The don't care about us, and don't listen to there Fans. I don't get it to look a Digital Event with Games which are seen so many times for what i watched this stupid Event, the did even release or showed us something great to be afraid to own a WiiU. It was only 2 Games one of them is so useless................
Super Mino You can say you weren't pleased with the E3 (It did suck in content) stuff but no need to be aggressive (use foul language)
Guys did you even SEE the new trailer for Xenoblade X?
gamerprince1999 Lol did you guys ever heard of a thing called sarcasm? xD
So many people want to see Krystal again, i hope we will soon too!
My body is ready for this game.
yooo that landmaster level so good
i wish all of nintendos E3 would be this good...
Lewt Shogun-Shien lol
Lewt Shogun-Shien that version of titania looks so awesome. the tornadoes in the background are a great addition too.
I got starfox vibes when I played wonderful 101. I hope this game will be as over the top and as long as that game. Just when you think it's over, you start a whole new episode.
Sending some Krystal support cause she needs it right now!! :|
I just want Krystal back. Remember the days of SF Assault/Adventures? yeah me too :)
I remember seeing Katt in Starfox 64, I knew who she was from command, but seeing her in a game I actually _HAD_ was amazing.
I really hope the starfox team adds combat mode like starfox assault when u can run around blasting enemies
FiRe x Prodigyy Agreed. I liked the ground missions in Assault, even though most of my friends hated the controls. I have a high tolerance for weird controls, but I understand where they're coming from. With a different control scheme/camera setup, on-foot combat could be great.
Josh Rose The Arwing Walker pretty much is your ground mission type gameplay though.
Idk its just not the same :/ imagine if they added online multiplayer
FiRe x Prodigyy YES, this man knows what he's talking about!
FiRe x Prodigyy I think the Walker is that which I liked but I get what you mean. Only issue I had with that in Assault was the clunky controls that can be easily fixed. The gameplay wasn't the issue, just the controls of it.
Nice explanation of this new #StarFox #StarFoxZero, I have my christmas game!!
LOVE those Starfox shirts and Arwing pins.
Direct-i looks and sounds so cute... I wonder what his/her English VA will sound like.
The little robot just melts my heart along with my gripe. Awwwwwwwwwwwwww.
It's these segments showing off the new gameplay features that make me really excited for this game.
I really hope that the game is long enough to really enjoy all of these gameplay options. (As opposed to there being, like, two gyrocopter missions, and that's it).
Looking great at 60fps.
Major problem I'm noticing with this is the lack of constant motion. Constant motion is a defining feature of the first two Star Fox games and is what sets it apart from most other shooters. You can plan around an exact scenario with constant motion, here it feels like any of the other MANY shooters we've had in the past 10 years. I really want this game to be the second coming, but I feel like the developers have kind of lost their way here. Transformation's neat and all but it should be like the landmaster and blue marine in Star Fox 64. It should feel consistent with the way you play the arwing, but with it's own slightly adjusted abilities (like the torpedos or hovering) . Stopping the constant motion and giving the player total free range to the point of stopping entirely breaks the designer's ability to contrive actual challenges that many games in the shooter genre lack.
Sorry, Nintendo. Just thought I'd bring it up.
The gameplay looks very different from older star fox games. But having to move the ship and aim in different directions looks like it could be super engaging!
Also, the coop mode sounds really fun!
Krystal to return in a brand new Star Fox! I want it to happen! :'D
Admittedly, "ROB Junior" would have made more sense than "Direct Eye." (When I think about remote vehicles on a tether, I think about the old Jason Junior ROV carried by DSV Alvin on the Titanic expeditions.)
Hopefully the Switch version will add Krystal-
The robot switches are an unnecessary halt to the action. It would be cool if there were a few well hidden ones that change the level in interesting ways, but for opening doors and taking out spotlights, lasers are quicker and more satisfying.
Star Fox Zero 4/10 "Graphics are 2010 and too much space!"-IGN
David T LOL IGN Ratings, Super Trippy since the beginning of time
Josiah Harris Who would have ever thought that a female that play's Pokemon made the most know meme!
David T lol
You missed your chance to say Zero/10
Enoch Spiro LOL
Game needed more Krystal.
My N64 is ready for this game
Krystal and Panther not being here doesn't feel right. I get that it's a "remake" but still. they are established characters at this point.
Nintendo. Just bring back Krystal please!
Thisll be my first Star Fox game, should be fun!
Nintendo is slowly moving towards having graphics as good as a Playstation 2. Way to go, guys, you´ll get there someday.
Mau Menzori I hope your joking, have you seen Xenoblade X?
eclecticmuso Yes, and that´s a good game. But if we see all Nintendo games as one package, this is just 1%. Their STYLE is not meant to emphasize graphics, just focus on plain old fun. But sometimes that alone does not cut it, people also want top notch graphics. That´s why I made my criticism.
Mau Menzori If people care so much about graphics they can play PC, people buy consoles for other reasons such as exclusives. Nintendo games typically emphasise gameplay over other elements, which makes sense as gaming is an interactive medium y'now?
eclecticmuso That´s somewhat what I said on my previous message, man. And I agree with you. Graphics are not the main point for Nintendo. MY OPINION about all of this, is that they should try to at least keep up with some better graphics, if they want to amass a bigger audience. Games evolve, and so does the players needs. Anyways, as long as you have fun in a game, that´s what matters.
Mau Menzori Yeah, well Nintendo has always done things their own way for better or worse, I love and hate that about nintendo. While sony and microsoft battle over resolution, textures and 60fps. Nintendo for at least the past two gens has been in competition with themselves rather than their competitors. Overall despite terrible sales the wii u is a good console, and the nintendo games have been great, it seems that nintendo has come back to their hardcore fans after realising that the casual gaming market base of the wii just wasn't sustainable in the long run. Now in terms of gaining mass appeal to ALL gamers, that's something that might take a while, or might not happen at all. Here's hoping the NX does well.
I dont understand why they took Krystal out, put her back in nintendo!
Can there please be someone at Nintendo who says its a bad idea to keep remaking Star Fox 64?? lol
krystal coming back would be a good thing too!
I get the feeling that more than 90% of people who say the graphics suck didn't watch the video to the 14:38 mark...
Graphic intensive or not. I'm definitely going to get this game. I'm just glad theres a Star Fox game.
Online, multiplayer co-op or pvp dogfights. Honestly that sounds like it would be amazing in Star Fox.
Also brings back great memories of Rogue squadron but modern.
Insert the under 301 views joke...
Zone Reviews INB4 how tough are yah
I'm kinda used to Peppy being in the Great Fox while Krystal is in an arwing with the rest of the team. Can we go back to that?
when are they making a new game?
i want to play as Krystal
when can we get Krystal back Nintendo? i keep waiting but still nothing :\
Can't wait to get this game
OMG GUYS I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING Star Fox was originally being developed for the Wii! But eventually stopped development until Wii U! Maybe the reason why the graphics suck is because they didn't want develop the game from the ground up on the Wii U when they already had some of the game done on Wii!
Something a lot of you complaining about graphics aren't really considering is, first of all the visuals look very much like a stylistic choice. It looks A LOT like a classic Star Fox game, in the level design and the enemy designs. But also more importantly, the game has two separate scenes rendering at 60 fps, on the gamepad and the TV. On top of that, the environments are quite large and expansive, with no loading or any noticeable pop-in. Considering all of that, the visual fidelity OBVIOUSLY has to be toned down slightly to keep the framerate rock solid at 60 fps. Nintendo is always focused on gameplay first. If the visual fidelity impacts their vision of the gameplay, then they tone it down.
There's thousands of decisions that go into making a video game. None of you know what kind of debates and arguments go on backstage inside of Nintendo, so it's kind of rude and unfair to rush to conclusions. If you're the type of person obsessing over visual fidelity, what are you doing playing Nintendo games. Nintendo is all about gameplay, and they flourish their games with fantastic art direction. I find the art direction in SF Zero quite nice. As a fan of the old games, not so much SF Assault, I LOVE that this game looks very much like a successor to the old games. The visuals look on point with the visual style of the past games. That brings the character and charm of the old games for me.
Krystal?
The Landmaster/Tank level starts at 14:38
The playstyle is something fresh and amazink again from Nintendo, the idea of the cockpit and the overview on the tv screen are really something I wait to play with, the story seems to be also a bit deeper.
The graphics, while having nice worlds and shapes looks too much artificial like in the N64 version. I like the style of the original Star Fox game on the SNES, it wasn´t super realistic, but realistic in it´s own way, very cool and sort of grown up - for all ages, if one would take the color palette of that style and redifine it, I think this game would be much more awaited.
Nintendo: You have disappointed Wii U gamers this e3. We want more, it feels like you are abandoning your fans.
C'mon, no one talked about that cute little Direct-i yet?
game wasn't horrible.. wasn't good either.
just give me krystal and something NEW
Where's krystal?
Given how the original Great Fox appears to be intact in the trailer, I'm assuming this is either a prequel or a reboot. Also, the way the Arwing transforms in the trailer makes me think of Star Fox 2
Looks awesome
I can't wait to use the Gyrowing. I hope there will be more levels with it.
It looks amazing, the motion controls are awesome, people shouldn't hat motion controls, that is the whole reason for the wii u. Want to buy it now! I am preordering this
.Nintendo has basically lost EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Warner Bros, etc. We have basically ZERO mature games to look forward to, and that is a huge blow to the Wii U community.
hold up, can you switch the game pad screen and the t.v screen at any time? if so that's awesome!
It looks way better at 60fps thankfully. Hopefully the final rounds of polishing will lead to some improved effects/lighting/textures etc.
Japanese Slippy sounds cute and kinda funny haha
Looks great
I think that Krystal should come back in some way. maybe an adventures style-ish spinoff that tells us more about the character without trapping her in a crystal lol(like what her actual powers may be or what they could become, ya know... something to expand on) while finding a proper way to fit her into the game through good storytelling.
Landmaster confirmed for A-Gear.
Man, WALL-E really let himself go.
The people in this comment section, they keep whining about the graphics, and how it looks it could be a wii game. Does anyone remember the skyward sword reveal that made it look like a glitchy, buggy mess? And then how it became one of the best zelda, wii, and overall video games of all time?
I don't think the graphics are bad but they're weirdly inconsistent. Like, the landmaster level looks WAY better than anything else.
I want Krystal and Panther back , their absence is a problem to me lol
The single only thing I hate about this game is the lack of multiplayer. (The same can be applied to Pikmin 3 and it's my favorite VG series of all time)
I like the land master and all, but I hope the sky form is limited. Why would I want to be a slow tank instead of a SkyTank. But I guess a good acronym would be Sk-ank as it's kinda cheap to the Landmaster which I just call, the La'd-master. The name kinda makes sense when you think about it.
Making Nintendo rated R!
Believe in our Lord and Savior Shigeru Miyamoto to make this a great Star Fox game ! #GoMiyamoto
i need more space duels!
Uh, Nintendo? Regarding a different game and it's subjects (Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam), if you do another Treehouse live of that game, I really, REALLY suggest you talk about whether Paper Mario series exclusive characters- like Rawk Hawk, Parakarry and Kammy Koopa- are showing up in the game, rather than making us wait for months.
"And as you can see"
I hope we have the option of playing old school control style with no gamepad, Bayonetta 2 let me play that way so....
The graphics are defiantly PS3 graphics at the least which isn't a bid thing but it could be better and this kinda feels like an hd remake of 64 which kinda sucks but owell I'm still getting this game. UNLESS you can't take off motion controls then I won't get it.....
PopperPenguin You can Nintendo confirmed it today :) or was it yesterday? Idk but i know they confirmed you can disable motion controls
Thank goodness I hate motion controls
Relatively poor graphics, sort of like an HD Dreamcast game with better lighting, but I can't wait for this anyway. Should be pretty fun. Hopefully there's at least splitscreen multiplayer, since there's no online.
Is it just me or does ROB's voice sounds like Krillin's from DBZ (same voice actress)
I wish I knew Japanese... D:
Nyamoto speaks like Spanish
I hope they leave the Japanese direct-i voice in as an option.
Animal Crossing board game = YAWN
Metroid Prime Federation Force = YAWN
Mario Tennis = YAWN
Zelda 3ds = YAWN
Hyrule Warriors 3ds = YAWN
Starfox Zero = looks fun.
Mario Maker = looks fun
Xenoblade = looks fun
Yoshi = looks fun.
Devil's Third = looks fun.
what more annoying than slippy? a japanese slippy
anyone else think there should be a deciphering mechanic when the Direct-i activates the lock pads?
I feel like every time you have to unlock something it ruins the flow of the game. Lego Marvel Super Heroes had a pretty good deciphering system when it came to unlocking doors. It even required a certain type of character to do it. Maybe if the Direct-i had deciphering mechanic on the touch pad it would feel more immersive.
Miyamoto you need to jump to next gen.
GAMUPRAY
Compared to Starfox 64 this game looks so easy and slow paced :/ I don't know whether that's just because it's an E3 showcase, but it doesn't look very appealing...
Crusty Bogan It's more because StarFox 64 didn't have much competition back in the day, but now....
just compare this to the Fast paced gameplay of Eve Valkyrie.
A good game with a good nae. Congrats, Nintendo. Your games are great, but you really need to work on naming them. (WII? Smash for 3DS? Smash for Wii U? Nintendo 64? All great, but with terrible names.)
Star Fox 0!!!!!!!!!!!! Whens it coming out?
CakePlays They just said Holiday 2015. I'm thinking it might have a date around Thanksgiving like SSB did last year.
kubricklynch OK, thanks
I'm sorry but i think that the just price for this game is 20€ or 20$, no more.
Repe I love Nintendo and I'm not picky about the graphics but Nintendo have to realise that has to give a minimum level in a new generation, I think it is common sense. This game looks like a Wii game or worst. I have the feeling that I am paying an old game to the price of a new one
Dear... it's so ugly... The WiiU can really do much better... So disapointed.
Ni los disparos dejan marca...
This looks boring. I was expecting an epic mashup of the best from Starfox 64, Starfox Adventures and Starfox Assualt. Starfox has potential to be the best sci-fi videogame ever..yes i said it.
