Harry Baker - Impossible

A poem of hope in a time of despair.

Originally written for an event about climate change, it feels like it holds a different relevance in these uncertain times. This was performed on March 16th just before all non-essential gatherings were cancelled in the UK. I don't know the next time It will be safe to perform in a live context but I believe the words in this poem now as much as when i wrote them. I have included the intro for some context but feel free to skip to 1:25 to get straight to to it. I'm not even sure if the poem itself is fully finished but this is as far as I've got and i wanted to put something out there.

I've found myself most mornings during lockdown listening to beautiful soul imbuing music and shedding tears - tapping into the deep emotion of appreciating life - your poem however takes me somewhere even deeper, it is beyond words, you take the soul to an inspired, transcendental magical place. If I could have greedily one more moment with my father it would be to play him this
It would have made his soul smile deeply
He was an accomplished writer who had left school at 12 with no education and the odds stacked but played with words like loose coins in his pockets and gave me the sheer joy of words and poetry
He also had the elder and the child wolf story printed out and framed up on the wall as I grew up .
I’ve had it on mine since he died and my young children now wonder, reflect and discuss it themselves. I’ve never heard anyone else mention it and then you, who I hugely adore suddenly uploaded this
I didn’t think I could be more entranced and captivated since the ted talk of hearing sunshine kid- my first born is neurodiverse and ASC (with a warm personality) and then you pushed impossible some more and made me well up and joyous again when most needed
