After a few years of saying “I’ll look deeper into Quareia and Josephine’s work once I come to a good pause point in my current work”, I recently plunged in. She is one of the most amazing occult writers I’ve ever read, and often leaves me almost startled with how clearly she can explain deeper spiritual concepts. I don’t know that I’ve ever read any magical author with a written voice as charming and accessible as hers, and would recommend her work to literally any magician.
@Jess One thing that truly sets her apart in my opinion is the sense of trust she instills. Even if I don’t agree with everything she says, I find that I trust her sincerity, I trust her experiences, I trust the process she lays out. Regardless of one’s path we really are blessed she shares her wisdom.
Josephine McCarthy could write a pamphlet about cornflakes and it would be utterly riveting - I so love her pragmatic and practical writing style...and all the little bits of dry homour sprinkled inbetween 💙
Josephine’s book is amazing and the example layouts were the most helpful part. I would consider Josephine’s book better than the Duquette Thoth tarot especially if you are not working the golden dawn system.
Josephine is completely genuine and an adept of the highest integrity and clarity. Her course in Quareia is brilliant and free if you access it online. Her books are bargains in relation to other esoteric fare yet seem to be more practically valuable to the practitioner. I can't recommend the Quareia card deck enough. This book, which is the only one of hers I haven't read, is the next purchase. Thank you Josephine and F.F.!
Well, I could leave a long and detailed comment about how much I love and use that book. But I'll just say, my divination practice pretty much centers around that book, the rider deck, and the LXXXI magicians Deck and accompanying book. With them I can see anything. 👀 and everything if I choose. ❤
Hope yer thumb gets better soon. Thanks so much for putting me onto JMcC. Lucky to have such great teacher (although she'd probably say the best teacher is Experience!). Will get this asap to compliment the Quareia coursework.
Thank you for the review, I have ordered this book from your link below. This will be my first book from JM and cant wait to start reading it as I love the Tarot and also Astrology.
Great stuff. Looks much more up my street that old Vince Pitisci. I was impressed with my initial readings into her Quareia system. Any plans to review Loeb's Rota Mundi deck? Or his ugly AlcheMystic Tarot? Though repetitive, the former isn't a bad little package. Especially for learning and instruction.
I should append my clumsy comment to say. Vincent Pitisci's work is great also. His approach, with no interest in metaphysics, demystifies the tarot and is great for beginners with qualms about occultism or anything too complex. He also has been a great help and inspiration this far on my short journey.
Well done, dear FF! I endorse all the words you just said about Josephine McCarthy: I couldn't agree more! She is really amazing in all regards! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Crowley's Thoth tarot, Lon Milo Duquette's Tarot of ceremonial magick and for divination classically it would be the Marseille arcana. Personally I have found them very effective at evoking the deep soul forces within that map out the entire cosmos in an accurate manner to work with beings ruling these planes we exist in and exist within us.
Hello FF I'm just getting started in my esoteric im saving money so I can buy the golden dawn and the middle pillar. When do you think I can get started in tarot? Thanks in advance
Some books are obviously a bit nicer than others, but anything Josephine McCarthy puts out is a must buy for me.
