    I've noticed in analytics these videos in particular are viewed pretty regular. If anyone needs help I'm more than happy to give it a shot. If needed I'll take mine apart to help

    Thanks for the support. I emailed the Rainbow site with a simple question and they referred me to authorized servicers/dealers. And as you mentioned, I still had questions about the connections after searching the net. One difference on my Rainbow is that the switch had plastic clips holding the switch rather than an adhesive so I took the top off containing the switch, removed the screws and pried the four clips back to loosen the switch. All in all, the diagram answered my questions....and provided "support" better than Rainbow.

    wanted to say a big thanks. I am also a visual person and saw the six wires with my four wire replacement and was a little nervous. Great job my friend, got it going without a hitch..

    Looks like you were riding the struggle bus in your last video lol it was also very entertaining for us 😂😂😂hahaha… the diagram was very helpful! thank you!

      There's probably a few videos with me on that dang bus but sometimes it works out. Had I known so many people would be looking for this information I would've done a start to finish repair instead of explaining with a cartoon diagram. Hope it helped out.

    Thank you for the video. I just wanted to change the cord on mine, but didn't want to damage it while taking it apart.

    • @TheOldKid
      @TheOldKid  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I changed the cord on mine a month ago. When I made the video I had just put it back together and I shouldve gone through all the steps taking it apart and showing the wires and connections. It would've been a lot more helpful. I really didn't expect it to get any views but since its something people look for I think om going to make a complete guide to be more helpful and easier to follow.

    Thanks so much for taking the time to break down these details. Life saver! I got our vacuum working again. Keep up the good work

      You are very welcome. Im always fixing stuff but rarely think about recording it until I'm done. Now I'm trying to make a point to document it because there is a chance someone may find it helpful no matter how minor it may be. I may even start doing some video at work. The project I started this morning wouldve been a good one but its almost finished now. Thanks for taking time to watch. If you run into something else needing fixed and stumped let me know. Could be something im familiar with or ill get a solution for you

    Thanks for the video. After watching the video, I was able to replace the switch on my Rainbow SE. I didn't hear you mention what the extra 2 wires are for. I see them in your diagram. There are 2 wires that go to the motor and 2 wires that go to the external plug. When cutting them off of the old switch, just keep the ones that come off of the same end of the switch together and connect both of them to one of the blue wires. This plug powers the carpet brush attachment. Hope this helps someone. Thank you for posting this video!

    my replacement switch doesn't have wires attached it has 2 connectors closer to the on side and two closer to the off side. which side is blue and which side is black?

    • @ailouro
      @ailouro 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      found it.
      for anyone else who runs into this
      the blue side is the "off" side.

    So if you aren’t replacing the switch but just want to try and clean the switch do you have to take it apart?

    • @TheOldKid
      @TheOldKid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you can pry it out. Probably best to try and cut the silicone that holds it in place. Since I was replacing mine I wasn't worried about breaking it but I was able to pull it without any damage. I dont know if it would be worth pling it to clean since there's not much on it to clean. The connections are covered pretty well

      @@TheOldKid I soaked the switch in contact cleaner while switching it on and off. Let it dry, plugged it in and it turned right on. It was full of dust from the static electricity it generates while running. Probably a temporary fix but it did work. Thanks for the video, the only subject on TH-cam that doesn’t have 2000 videos. Thanks brother

      @@jasonphilbeck5693 glad it worked. Mine had gone completely out. It wouldn't make contact anymore. Didnt have time for a more detailed video today either. Ive been disassembling a camper furnace trying to figure out that problem. Pulled one of the blower covers off and three tree frogs and dirt dobber clump fell out. My guess is that's my blower problem. Ill know tomorrow

      What kind of switch do I buy to replace the switch? Can I get it a Lowe's or will I have to order from rainbow?

    • @TheOldKid
      @TheOldKid  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tondawatson3531 you'll need to know your model. Look up your model number then order the switch from Amazon. I don't think it really matters but it's always best to buy model specific
