We might need internet in Beaglebone to download different Linux packages or to update existing packages. This video demonstrates how to enable internet connection in Beaglebone black which is popularly used for iOT applications.

ping 64.233.169.104
#To show network devices
ipconfig
#To enable internet
sudo /sbin/route add default gw 192.168.7.1

If possible please try the steps once again.
Or if you are ready to lose the data you can do a reset and fresh OS installation and try these steps.
Unfortunately I don't have a bbb with me right now so that I would've troubleshooted your issue.
