Congrats on doing this with a single motor! My wife and I leave next week from Cape Coral, Key West, to DT.

Great video! A few quick questions....where did you guys put your boat in? I know it was a back up plan so where did you originally plan to put in. What about parking truck and trailer. We are planning this trip in a similar size boat this summer trailering down from GA.

So cool! We are originally from Georgia!! Recommend parking car and trailer at Garrison Bight marina in Key West and you leave out right from there. Need to get there early to secure a spot because there aren’t reservations. We just got back from our second trip and felt very comfortable leaving our Tahoe and trailer there. I think it was only $15 per day for us, goes by axles of trailer.

Also recommend coming back up through the Everglades. Neat scenic route!

How far did u guys actually have to anchor your boat off the beach? I’ve been planning a trip and keep hearing different things about this.

We backed up right to the beach but if you have a larger vessel you would need to anchor out.

You can tie up to the dock for 2 hours to load/unload and then move your boat to anchor off the beach. We tied off within 10 feet of the beach. Depends on how crowded it is.

How many miles was it from key west? How fast did you travel on average? How was fuel consumption? Appreciate any help.

70 miles each way, we traveled at about 28-30 mph. Averaged 2.7-2.9mpg. We burned about 65 gallons with some additional running around for fishing, snorkeling, and checking out some of the other keys on the way out. The way back was a little more rough, we had to slow down to about 23-24mph.

@Justin Rohrer 2 hrs there & 3hrs back due to head wind & a storm we skirted around.
