I remember getting my appendix removed back in march 2020 (I was about 20 years old), I remember being in so much pain (my appendix had ruptured) and was hands down the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, I could barely even walk because whenever I move my legs my lower abdomen would hurt so much that it felt like I've been stabbed or shot, I felt like crying but I for some reason I just couldn't and I even made a crying face but no tears would come down. So I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance on 3/17/2020 at like 7 in the morning, I woke up feeling severe pain in my lower abdomen. I've spent a week and a half in the hospital going though recovery. When I got discharged I still felt pain but not as much as before the surgery. For a few weeks, I had to lay down at a certain position so my lower abdomen wouldn't hurt, I couldn't laugh because when I did my lower abdomen would hurt (there were many instances when I had to tell my friends "Ahh!! Don't make me laugh!" whenever they made me laugh from jokes they tell me and what not lol). But man... what an experience lol.
so glad you are okay! how are you doing today? im currently going through the same thing (im 17) except mine didn’t rupture thank God. But ive been feeling pain in my side for 3 days so i said yeah something isnt right called 911 just to be safe turns out it was appendicitis got surgery yesterday and im currently still in the hospital in so much pain, cant walk or laugh either it hurts so bad just like how you described it, i cant imagine if i stayed home thinking the pain was nothing this couldve been a whole other story
I had my day of horror in Sept. 2020. Worst time of my life. The appendix had already ruptured, sepsis had set in, blood pressure was too low, heart rate was too high and I could barely breathe. I didn't think I would survive and the surgeon later told me it was really bad.
...when you’re having the same symptoms... I woke up with unbearable pain two days ago. And the past week or two, right below my bellybutton, it’s super painful like there is pressure on it
The scariest part is the fact that it can happen outta the blue to anyone of any age. I myself had 8 kidney stones and I would absolutely hate to tag on appendicitis with it..
I had a really bad tummy ache years after a planned surgery which was cancelled, the very next day the doctor told me “ I’m admitting you’re having an operation tonight” and I did. It happened so fast....
I am 13, and A few weeks ago I started getting very nauseous a lot, it slowly migrated to my right side in a stabbing pain, however the pain was on and off. After 3 ultrasounds, a CT scan, and a ER trip I was finally diagnosed with chronic appendicitis. Since it’s chronic not acute it’s not considered an emergency surgery since it’s not at risk of rupture (very thankful for the Lords mercy there) so we have my laparoscopic appendectomy scheduled in the next few weeks. For those who have had it removed - any tips?
I have just gone through all of that diagnosis too. Pain started in April. Here we are in July and I am seeing a surgeon on Monday. Like you said, the pain comes and goes, so no one takes you seriously (at least me) until I finally got my CT this morning
I’ve been having the same symptoms and had one ultrasound done which was normal by looking at your comment I think I should get my ct scan too as pain comes and go, it’s been more than a month and if it’s chronic appendix, Appendectomy is the only solution? we’re you suggested for antibiotics?
Hey Ismail friend , 2 days before I got diagnosed with chronic appendix , the doctor said you have a partially acute chronic appendix , since there is no any chance of rapture and he put me into the medications , and said me if your symptoms goes away after taking these medicines then its okay you don't need surgery but if it doesn't go away despite taking medicines then will go for surgery , since I have been taking medicine since 3 days but I'm also feeling a little sharp pain that comes and goes away , so I think I need surgery @@ismail_yaseen5430
Literally just got mine out 3 hours ago, writing this in the surgical ward. Laporscopic is the best way to go, I'm barely feeling any pain with no pain meds, just make sure you drink enough water afterwards. Best of luck to you
i just had mine taken out yesterday and i’m still in a lot of pain. i usually get SUPER bad period cramps to where i’m throwing up every month but this pain was lasting way too long and the pain was moving down to my right so knew something was wrong. very scary
Anyone else try to remember what they were doing at the time this was all happening? I was a sophomore in college and freaking out all week over a math midterm. Great story!
I feel for you. I felt mine lower right on a wed night pushed through till Friday at the gym and literally mid exercise doubled over and couldn't move... stubborn a friend pushed me to go to emergency. Friday night ultrasound and CT with contrast on hydro morphine... emergency surgery Saturday. Mine had ruptured 2 weeks before I had received surgery. My body apparently fought the infection so it purrfurated and adhered to my abdominal wall...rare case 5 day hospital stay. So ladies be aware and don't think it's just bad ovulation (what I thought wed night). Bruised triceps from all the dilaudid injections .... but home recovering healthy and thankful 🙏🏼
I just had an appendectomy two weeks ago. Totally the same symptoms and emergency. So weird how you just know something’s wrong, a total miracle I just knew to go to the ER. Even more awesome is how quick the healing time was, back to work in a week after laparoscopic surgery.
I just came across this video and listening to it when you talk about the hospital not having surgeons I thought of the time I was about 8 and got stung by a bee at my grandparents house and it started to swell so they took me to the hospital (this was the early 2000's pre GPS, carplay etc.) So my grandma comes with us to direct my mom to the hospital only we get there and it's closed for renovation, I'm like how can they close a hospital thank goodness this is not a time sensitive life threatening matter as we now had to get directions and drive to another hospital
I woke up 2 days ago with a cramping pain on my lower left abdomen and it was slightly down my thigh also, it hurt so bad that I was eventually screaming and crying. I ended up throwing up, that day but that's the only time I've thrown up. And the only way I could get the pain to stop was if I was sitting up on the edge of the bed. I ended up being able to sleep. The next day, the pain was very little. I could still feel pressure but it wasn't bad. So I thought it was just a stomach ache or food poisoning. I woke up today, 2 days later, with bad cramping pain on my right side. I ended up taking a nap, woke up and couldn't get up because the cramping was so bad. It ended up not hurting for a little bit after that, I went to a MedCheck and they didn't really give me any information other than to take antibiotics. I get back home, and the pain comes back. The pain was in my belly button and my right lower abdomen. And it hurt so fucking bad. I couldn't sit up. The pain is now resided and doesn't hurt like it was, but there's still pain Moral of this is that I am terrified to have surgery I am afraid it needles and have never had a surgery. I honestly don't know if I have appendiciti, but that's what it's looking like. I hope by some miracle it's not, and I just have a really bad stomach ache or something . The main reason I feel it could possibly bit be is because it started on my left side, I have no fever, and I've been able to poop.
Update: I had surgery yesterday. What I had wasn't appendicitis, but I have ovarian torsion. There was a HUGE cyst in between my ovary and fallopian tube, and it got so big it cause my over to twist on itself and cut off the blood flow. They weren't able to save one of my ovaries but they got the cyst out. They believe that when I first started having pains, which was 5 days ago, that's when the ovary twisted. So, I feel like this should be more aimed towards ladies. Please please please if you have pain like appendicitis or ovarian torsion, go to the ER and get it checked out, it's never too late to be safe. The pains I was experience was sharp, cramping pains, started on my lower left abdomen and felt some pain in my leg. The next day I didn't feel very much pain, but I could feel pressure. The next day after that, there was cramping pain on my lower right abdomen and sharp pain in my belly button. This is why I thought it was appendicitis, but it was all just my ovary being murdered by a giant cyst :'(
So actually a lot of the smaller hospitals just aren’t equipped to handle major things like that so that’s probably why they didn’t have any surgeons there. I agree though it’s pretty weird I just know for me whenever I have needed to go to the ER my mom who is also a nurse always makes sure it’s a hospital well equipped to handle most things because things can change so quickly. But then the downside to these more equipped hospitals is that they are much busier. But yeah the hospital you go to really does matter sometimes. Glad you made it through ok :)
