I misspoke in this review. The Pilot VP’s nib has a black coating, not ruthenium plating.

I've always been amazed that they can get so many carrots into that tiny little nib.

I love my decimo. I would probably like the VP as well if it wasn’t so heavy. But that 10g difference is pretty substantial. But the weight difference makes it a deal breaker for me personally.
Hopefully they come out with a lighter aluminum version of the VP at some point.

I own the Japanese Market Capless (VP) Special Alloy, but tried a fine nib Decimo in mica grey. I personally loved the fine nib, the lightness, and the better proportioned looks of the Decimo, but the pen was a little thin for my tastes. I found myself grabbing onto the pen more aggressively, so my fingers kept sliding down the barrel, and the lack of strong clip indentation made my fingers press into the clip more than the full sized VP. I may try a Medium nib Decimo one in the future, but I’d like to give myself more time writing with my VP, and see if I would like to get a gold fine nib model in the instead. While I do find the VP to be pretty heavy, I can let the weight of the pen do all the work, unlike my Custom Heritage 92, which forces me to apply pressure to get even lines. It’s why I prefer the #5 soft nibs more.

@@chi-towncalifornia5916 I find I have the same issue with the grip on the Decimo. Someone commented it would be nice if Pilot just made an aluminum version of the VP. I tend to agree.

Hey. In what situations do people use reverse writing? Thanks!

Drawing usually. Outside of that it isn't really a thing for normal writing uses.

@@AzriAzhari typically reverse writing can give you a lighter and thinner line. Which is useful for sketching as well as writing on highly absorbent paper.

@@ForTheLoveOfPens Ah okay. I might try that on my Safari. I work with cheap paper, and you know how thick their lines are haha.

@@AzriAzhari yep! I rarely write in reverse, but when I do it’s usually because I’m out without a ballpoint and need to use cheap paper

I wanted to love the decimo, I thought the slimmer body was what I needed.
Got one in white, and nope. It is far too small for me. The VP imo, has the perfect girth and weight for its intended purpose. Aka, edc quick uses.
Sold mine, I do miss it sometimes. Ah well, some things are not meant to be, at the very least, I have the VP 😂😂😂

@@unknowncrash1 I tend to agree, I much more quickly reach for the VP. But everyone’s hand size and preferences are going to be a bit different, some will prefer the Decimo.
