Super Castlevania IV for me is the best Cvania. It's not perfect, but it was serious and brutal, with amazing graphics and music.

Although I have a deep love and appreciation for the original NES game, I think this is my favorite of the linear Castlevania games. It’s atmosphere and sound is unparalleled. I like that it’s easier than the first 3 games. My only complaint about this game is the amount of slowdown. You can tell the devs were so excited about the new hardware and crammed a bit too much visually into the game. The SNES really struggles with it. Seems to be a common thing with those early Konami SNES games though.

4:55 Of course the boss wouldn't be called Frankenstein. Frankenstein is the doctor's name not the monster's. Excellent video though, SC4 is the best of the series IMO and one of the best SNES titles. The music in haunting and gives the whole game an eerie feel. Absolutely love it.

Super Castlevania IV is my favorite of the platformer Castlevania games. It did many things that were really good: Being able to swing whip in any direction, the level design felt more tight and refined and the soundtrack is incredibly good. Some of my favorite songs are the first level theme, the submerged city, the library and the remixes of the classic NES Castlevania songs that are in some of the levels of 4. SCIV might be a lot easier then the NES games to some people and some may dislike it, but to me it still provides a good challenge. People gotta remember the original 3 especially Castlevania 3 on NES are super tough for most people. Castlevania IV is one of those platformer games I can go back to and replay again and again.

While I love this game, I always preferred Castlevania 3.
It had a spookier, more mystical atmosphere.
I loved the branching paths, variety in the levels and recruiting characters, especially Sypha the sorceress.
And while Super Castlevania's control was far superior and a welcomed addition, I missed its predecessor's challenge.
I always wished they kept all the elements that made Castlevania 3 so great but of course with updated graphics, sound and control.
Would've been cool to add a few elements that worked from Castlevania 2 too, like visiting towns in between some stages, buying and selling weapons, armor and items, but keep the game broken up into multiple stages rather than one big stage with different areas, and no revisiting cleared stages and towns so you're always moving forward.

    • @karllogan8809
      @karllogan8809 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Or instead of towns there could be a (hidden) merchant in each or every other stage you could exchange points with for weapons, armor and items.
And other NPCs you could do favors for.

tbf the Japanese version isn't considered a remake by it's creators any more than the US version - it was just meant to go back to the basics of the original (to quote it's director) to be a more direct instalment but was considered a sequel. Back then the series wasn't intended to have a linear timeline and Simon Belmont had been depicted simultaneously as a man in the middle ages and an actor in a 1950s movie, so the timeline not making sense was part of the set up in a way.

SofN music while good is bit too aware of itself as a game being consumed by a player, rather than music depicting this inner world on it own. If that makes any sense? Like having modern a day guitars in sections kinda works to inject our real reality and history in to the game. Where as in SNES its primarily influenced by and sticks to Baroque classical music and instrumentation, again mostly. The music wasn't trying to meld modern day, it was creating a what if interpreation of the classical style for this world.
In short CVIV music was better in that sense than SofN for me.

The title asks a question dude. And you haven't even seen the video. And you compare a 32bit title with it's foundation pillar. SotN is better, but not in any way. You can wonder almost aimlessly for hours in that castle. And to follow the story you need to play previous titles, which gets confusing. And some puzzles were near impossible to solve.

@@Veins1 You do not need to play previous castlevania games to enjoy the story, and the puzzles were not impossible to solve.

I guess it's cool if you're not into challenge, love hoarding pointless crap you'll never use, and think flipping the main map upside down counts as level design.
Seriously, though, SotN a gorgeous, sloppily designed game that's overdue for a critical re-evaluation.

A fellow man of culture, I see! I also have a video about Super Castlevania IV! It really is an excellent game. Probably one of the best of all time!

The first playthrough is too easy
U need to beat the game in highest dificultys with New planed Monster
But for that u need to playthrough at least once
