This one is an instant classic. Call me crazy but that last chorus with the transition between James' voice and the melody is one of Metallica's most memorable moments ever. And since you mentioned it, I do not think those portraits are representative of someone, because I read both this and the Shadows Follow video were done in 2 weeks 😅 fucking insane if you ask me.
Those pictures could represent images of the past and events he cannot let go. Lots of shit happened during his childhood, and I also made the connection to the first 18 years of Metallica, which brings it up from KEA era to the start of st-anger creation, and all the drama that happened in between.
Actually, since he did it in two weeks, it's almost certain he made these portraits from old black-and-white photos from the 19th or early 20th century, and he edited them so their faces are distorted and animated like you see in the video. That's what they look like to me and obviously that would be the easiest way to go about it bcz many of these photos are royalty-free and you can get the whole thing done in a day. Besides, none of them look like any Metallica family members I've seen.
I listened to Room of Mirrors 100 times since Friday. My conclusion is this is the best Speed/Thrash Metal song Metallica's done since 1988. Then I realized this song reminds me of Battery! This is old school Thrash Metal done in 2023...
@@raphaellall6270 I don't exactly agree on that though. Wherever I may roam I do believe is a bit better. But that is my opinion. But I agree with the rest you said. This song has been on repeat since release day
This one is my fav of the new album..I am a massive 'TallicA fan and Maiden fan..you were spot on with the dual harmonies. Love the Classic Mac in the back too!!
And don't forget Maiden. That harmony part (even twice, before and after the solo) sounds a lot like Maiden. But it also reminds me of Metallica's mid/late 80s stuff, where they used quite a lot of double harmonies.
me too. I've been saying that since I've heard this song the first time :) Singing in that one part is almost exact as Garage Inc. Merciful Fate and riff too... Nice :)
Since the first listen to this track, i got the vibe. It's not to comparable to any other Metallica song, but they have something that make him a great fucking song.
Cool reaction. I just got album Saturday May 6 got CD with tshirt album cover with songs on back of the shirt at Walmart for $22 can't beat that. $10 for shirt. Album is gd AS can be by them in 2023 TY Metallica for making new music at 60 I'm happy as can be at 55 to hear it. Been fan since 84
My favorite off the album. I think its mainly because its the shortest song after Lux Aeterna....To be honest most of the other songs are too long and bloated. But this one nails it.
@@ikymagoo man I was really upset when I realized they took Richmond off the schedule as a Virginian. They don’t come anywhere near me! Lots of different types of ovals on this side of the country.
@@MrMOGHammer lazy player no thought or memorable solos for a long time now. The whole band can release crap like this after a 7 year gap . And they are are happy ?? Metallica fans are sheep .
Totally agree. Lazy also comes to mind. The whole album smacks of how I would go about writing my first songs. Developing a riff is one thing but get on with it. You gotta realize I hold all bands from the Big Four to a higher standard. This album makes me think they used all the tracks that didn't make it on the last album or two.
Green Day have a lot of guitar harmonies and double bass? Besides JOS do they have a lot of 7 min songs? If you can’t get down with this song maybe Blink 182 or My Chemical Romance will have a new album out soon.
What do you expect? 22 yrs old for eternity? They are in their 60's. Life move on, a lot of things happen in that period of times. They adapt and create music based on what they want and what they feels about it. Oh god, they still can play better than most of us. Yeah you, better than you
definitely their weakest album in their discography. I think they should make a 12-track album that is only below 35 mins (with fastest bpm at 240 bpm)
One of my favorites from this album but shoot this entire album is flat out freakin awesome!

Yeah the same thrash bulshit that has been Beat to Death like a dead horse for the last how many decades?
*Spit Out The Bone has entered the chat*
Spit out the bone imo is not as fire as Room Of Mirrors is. The harmony of Room Of Mirrors is way better and emotional
@@brianthienpondt698 Brian, exactly! Again I say, I think this is Metallica's best Thrash Metal song since the 1980s...

The vocal repetition is called a theme. Great reaction!
Thanks
Emphasis on a theme. Also heard on If Darkness Had A Son. Temptation.
Shadows follow video is out now as well. Best song for me. Anyway. Nice reaction
This song is a banger
Best Metallitrack since ages imo
I love the album.
One of the most interesting songs on the album, not typical, many cool bits here and there.
I've enjoyed your reaction videos. As long as they are reaction videos for each song, I'm in. Then it would be cool to do a review afterwards! Thanks!
Love this tune!
Appreciate your reaction man. You keep it real. I don’t like hearing “music theory” analyses. Too much yap. You stay on point.
Great song. Fantastic harmony section. That's what we old school fans like...😁

Interesting
Are you oldschool.. Then you listen to Overkills new scorched album!!!
Fuckin amazing!!!!!! Heavy as fuck.. The riffs and drums... Wall of sound
I’ll give it a listen

Man how about that texas race though speaking of Indy car
that race was awesome! Long Beach was good too just in a different way, Indycar needs more ovals!

I still hate half the load album but this album has grown on me.
The wah pedal is fine but every blinkin song ? What a lazy guitar player .
It’s not every song, but close
Actually playing a wah pedal requires another limb to use while playing guitar. And it’s not as easy to do right as it seems.
