Who cares if there are faster cars out there than this glorious V12 Vantage. Just listen to the sound of that lovely V12. Not to mention that gorgeous styling. It's way better than that stupid Beetle GT2. And it's not like I hate Porsche, in fact I own a 944 S myself.
There is a man in England. Who works for a truck company, repairing trucks. Doesn't have a home, doesn't have an apartment. Or is super rich. But he has an Aston Martin v12 Vantage. He bought it with his own money. And he is my hero.
Just bought a 20,000 mile 2010 model. Just love the monster V12, manual gearbox is a delight and with 20" DB9 GT 20s with PS4Ss, it's a really focused hotrod. So great it comes with brilliant headlights, carbon ceramics and the optional 700 watt Harmon Cardon sound system (try Genisis, Afterglow)... Awesome bolide!
the V8 vantage has 420hp. it used to have 380hp but they upgraded it. Also porsche is really good driving machine but the Aston is also a delight to drive and it is also really beautiful, it is a piece of art.
That drag race was close enough for it not to make any difference in real world on the road driving conditions! I love the Porsche but in this instance I might just take the Aston:-)
On the road, the difference is tiny, yes the Porsche won by about a second on a closed airfield. On the road there is very little between them and yes the Aston every time for me.
What's funny is that the 09 Jag XKR went from 420hp to 510hp (in the '10) and it wasn't really made out to be that big of a deal. Yet they dropped the V12 in the Vantage also bumping the power to 510 from 420 in the V8 and everyone is treating it like such an epic achievement and now a true supercar.
True, but Jaguar just doesn't stir the emotions like Aston Martin, the name alone carries so much kudos that Jaguar can't hope to emulate. A reply 14 years after your post and the same is still true.
@@user-qq2mo1ek2r Geeze talk about a comment resurrection. Yeah Jaguar is still a disappointment. But also Aston has now passed peak design. The DB11/12 is a bloated monstrosity compared to the sexy chiseled DB9/S of this era.
@@vantage789 not at all true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you feel Aston has passed peak design then I'm afraid Jaguar has gone back to the horse and cart in design. The current and new Vantage are great designs, the DB12 stunning, I will allow you the DBX is not their finest but the Valkeyrie is epic in its engineering prowess once you see in detail how it was designed and built, it is incredible. Jaguar has lost its identity, all SUV and poor quality build and reliability.
The McLaren F1 is in the NA Supercar category as well. Don't think the Aston would have too much hope against that, either. How does the 0-60 compare between this Aston and a Gallardo, I'm wondering?
And how many turbos does it have? How many intercoolers? I know that you can get a 3.2 liter into 700hp territory. But it's also a V8 so that could also be why.
Check out this: evo 9 vs Aston Martin v12 vantage , the vantage keeps up pretty well considering the evo was a race car with 600hp slick tyres and all and the vantage is fully stock !
I don't care that the Aston Martin is a little slower than the Porsche. The Aston looks better, sounds better, and it's a heck of a lot classier than the Porsche. I would never buy the Porsche over the Aston.
The GT2 does have an unfair advantage though, it's got semi slick track day tyres as standard, I reckon if both had them then the aston would have kept up with the gt2, but I'm not sure if it would beat it though, but ether way, I would have the aston over the gt2 ANYDAY
The main reason that Aston lost is its heavier weight. Also, porchea has bigger pistons which makes every displacement of the gear way more powerful that of Aston's. I have been a mechanic for more that 25 years and I am familiar with these cars. Both are awesome cars.
Its not a fair fight. The v8 vantage is like a carrera S and the V12 is like the GT3. Prices for the aston may be aligned with higher model porsches but that reflects the exclusivity of the astons, not their performance. Also, a drag race isn't really a measure of a better car
i saw this car today at the gas station, funny thing is it was a country gas station and i almost pee'd myself when i saw it because i was so surprised,so much better looking and sounding in person.i love the vantage.
@cyclingguy3 I agree with you, I got to drive the Carbon Black V12, made a vid. Amazing car experience and this is coming from a driving event where I get to drive all the 2011 porsches on tracks all day. I wouldn't even look at the porsche if the Aston is available to me. That V12 can make you feel amazing downshifting and hearing it pop and gurgle and laugh out loud when you get on it. Im going to buy one God willing in a two months from today...
I'm talking about the Koenigsegg,I know top gears were made a long time ago since the early 20th Century, right.I was actually saying that Koenigsegg aren't that old they were starting in 1994.I mean that was 15 years ago and they are still in business.
This car is soo damn beautiful. Compact, elegant, sportive - and I love the interior. Among (more or less) exclusive brands, Porsche is a mass manufacturar ( ~ 90. - 100.000 units) even though I do admire Porsche engineering. It's just the fact that an Aston is so exclusive. Ulrich Bez has influenced this brand sustainably, especially the quality and the finish. He's never tried to change Aston's culture, rather is he contributing his impressive Know How as a former Porsche engineer.
@BonhommeHero I totally agree, plus look at the dynamics of both car. Both Rear Wheel drive cars only the GT2 has the engine at the back pushing down on the rear wheels, getting everything out of the engine. The Aston now has a big V12 in the front, which doesn't help in getting more downforce to the Rear wheels. But the elegance and grace of the Aston more than make up for the fact that the Aston can't beat a GT2 in a straight line. I would have the Aston over the GT2 every day of the week.
@sw1000xg You might reconsider if you've got a chance to own any of them. Performance doesn't only mean "Raw Power". It's a pleasure driving experience. Don't judge anything with numbers, try to feel it.
I agree, the entire Aston Martin line are great looking cars.. the best design out right now ( that others are copying ) without getting ridiculous, with something like a Zonda.. my other favorite.
@JeanFrenchCroissant well i can tell you've never driven one before, they handle brilliantly they do have good performance stats and yes it shouts look at me i'm the best looking car here the manual gear boxes are fine and the automatics(touchtronic2) are incredible also see grand tourer.
@RRVVWW73 they do not both move in a clockwise way. the left moves clockwise, and the right moves counterclockwise so they both move outward and then upward toward each other. Not to my liking. who would want rpms to move counterclockwise? it changes the natural movement that your eyes look for as the rpms climb. it simply messes with your head in my opinion
@cyclingguy3 Well considering that the Porsche has half the engine size it's pretty sad that it beat the Vantage at all. Honestly the Aston Martin producers need to start pumping more HP into that V12... and they can due to its size.
I love aston's car's they r soo beatyfull and they have class and elegance. I dream to have one of new astons in the future mayby when I will have 40years... I hope
I'd rather have the aston than the porsche. The GT2 will run rings around the aston, but... if you really like how the Aston looks, you will probably think it is one of the most loveliest cars ever in production (the DBS especially). I'd buy an Aston Martin because it does deliver plenty of power, it's delivers beauty the size of the sky. And soul? Honestly, I won't know. My last car was a Nissan GTR R35.That car was mental, the DB9 is alot slower but it is an Aston.Bucket list completed. 👍
This my at the top of my list.
The V12 Vantage is the perfect blend of 'power, beauty and soul'.

@e36mmm It's actually 6.2L v8 producing 500hp@9200rpm plus 2 electrical motors for additional 218hp
Plus, where are you going to fit a 6 liter V12 in the Porsche?
@jakewars it is a little jingle on imovie that comes with macs

V12 in Vantage is NA which means it's more controllable than the TT H6. Turbo umpf can kill when you press the pedal hard in a corner.
