Also to add ekko and powders relationship, in the game they teased about their past when they interact with each. One of the lines were from ekko saying “i had a crush until you started talking to the gun”. So not only was he friends with her as kid but he did like her. Also the enemy by imagine dragons and JID video did kinda foreshadow that vi inspired both ekko and powder when they were kids. When she showed them fighting moves, vi used her fists and powder used her fist and feet. That was just like when in act 2 when powder was blowing steam in the boxing area to try to beat vi’s score. As for ekko in act 3 vi said “so you just come swinging?” Ekko responded “gee i wonder who i learned that from.” Meaning that vi did teach them both how to fight but both ekko have they’re on styles to their moves. And their are a lot similarities between the three, dyed hair, grow up in undercity etc. but interesting powder ekko had the same teacher but ended up on opposite sides.

@@artxroyalty I’m not sure. Like there’s a lot of background of them being kids that we don’t fully know about. Considering how powder went back forth on trying to be jinx and being her old self when vi showed up, it could’ve been a similar thing with her and ekko during the time skip. Like it does seem like jinx at this point has been trying to deny her old self and just trying to be this persona of jinx. Even though there are moments where slither parts of powder always seem to slip out. Maybe ekko reached out and she kept getting conflicted who she was and what silco kept telling her to be which was jinx. Like when vi came to see her Jinx said “ stop calling me that, it’s jinx, powder fell down the well” like she wanted to convince herself. Maybe part the reason she had that look on her face before she set bomb on ekko and her was because of her old feelings for ekko. Plus the music video flash back always had them together

Aisha, you should really look into all of the LoL games. I don't know if you're a gamer, but if you are, I'm sure you will find one you like. I beat The Ruined King RPG and have started Conv/rgence, a platform side scrolling action game where you play as Ekko. Both are great fun games, but I'm really waiting 2XKO the fighter that Riot introduced at EVO Japan last year. Fighting games have always been my favorite and 2XKO (formerly Project L) is looking absolutely amazing right now. It's supposed to be released sometime next year.
I cried at that part too hearing him talk about involving his kid in the process and how proud and happy he was, it was the highlight of bridging the rift for me

Being French, I indeed see a lot of familiar elements in Arcane.
Piltover's Jules Verne-style design looks a lot like Haussmannian Paris, with touches of Art Nouveau in the detailed designs. The fashion reminds me of the Belle Époque era, mixing elegance with extravagance.
The characters' exaggerated facial features and the parkour scenes also feel very French. The unique character designs remind me of French comic book art.

Fun fact but the stadium they showed that held a previous World's competition is the exact same stadium they will be using for the final day of Worlds this year. Which also take place in November this year. When Arcane season 2 is set to release..... in short Worlds this year is expected to take place probably within a week or so of Season 2's launch.
I mean, it makes as much sense this time as it did last time - World's finals is a perfect place to hype the show just before releasing it.
"What scene is that from?" Theories are that this image of Cait and her dad looking sad with flowers is from season 2, as are a few other tiny glimpses of storyboards and things dotted throughout

One of Ekko's voice lines to jinx in LoL is, "I had a crush… until you started talking to the gun." Also, interestingly enough, there was a flashback scene between Jinx and Ekko in an episode that took place between Act 1 and Act 2 but was cut out in Season 1, but I believe that the scene may be added back in somewhere in Season 2.
I just wanna say - you're definitely not alone in crying during these (especially this one)! I certainly tear up every time too. I think at least for me it's because you can see just how much passion they all have and how beautiful the entire process is, and you deeply feel everything they have done and everything they went through to make this absolute masterpiece. The last episode especially had me in full on tears and still gets me to cry every time because you can just *feel* what they are feeling.
And also you are absolutely right. Watching this documentary and then rewatching Arcane is something *extremely* special, and I highly recommend it. It's like you think you can't appreciate the show any more than you already do, but of course it proves you wrong every time. Not to mention, rewatching even without the documentary, you'll realize something new every time. The hard moments somehow hit even harder now that you know the full scope of everything that happens. This show has *insane* rewatchability. I've rewatched it 15 times now and I am still finding new details every single time.
For me it's very remarkable that the animators are allowed to put their own ideas into it which contribute a lot. In the video, the animator mentions that he came up with certain attitudes for Ekko. Another example is the scene where Vi is walking out of the brothel and sees Caitlyn talking with the other woman. And the special facial expressions of Vi. Amanda Overton who wrote episode 5 was very pleased with it, especially since there was no indication of it in the script.
9:30 Just in case nobody else has mentioned, VA’s are brought in really early in animation so that the animators can lip sync properly during the animation process. However, VA’s are usually brought back a second time once the animation is finished for pickups and ADR, so if any lines need changing or if they need a new take to better match the tone of the finished animation they can perform it again.
I love the detail that the only perfect circle/sphere in the show is the gemstone. Truly gives it an otherworldly effect, like it’s alien to this world and impossible to understand. Makes all the scenes where Jayce flaunts it or Jinx tosses it around feel so much more uneasy.
The dad referencing his kid for the Ekko/Jinx sequence absolutely brings a tear to the eye. And seeing how closely it actually looks like his son running with a sword just makes me tear up. So happy you're reacting to Bridging the Rift!

This next episode about the music is my favorite one... and I'm not even that big of a music lover! I am a lover of professional passion though, and the music episode is where we really get to see Christian in his wheelhouse. His enthusiasm (and background) for music is really inspiring.

I understand. I am an amateur writer and after I watched this show, I wanted to breath it in, because it is a master piece in story telling and I want to learn all the secrets to improve my craft.

Also, in this episode you briefly see the 2019 world championship finals that Fortiche was brought to, so they could get a sense of the scope and scale of who they were making the show for.
It would definitely be worth you having (and sharing?) a similar experience. Whether you post a reaction to it or not, you should check out the 2019 opening ceremony to get a sense of where - and what - LoL was/is at the time they were spending hundreds of millions of dollars creating this series.
And best imo if you do that *before* getting into other stuff like cinematics or like the Worlds Finals that coincided with Arcane's release and features Arcane. Watching the same world finals Fortiche watched will absolutely give you an interesting context and perspective for whatever else you react to after Bridging the Rift.
If you decide to follow this advice and go that route, the video you want is on the League of Legends YT channel and is called "Opening Ceremony Presented by Mastercard | 2019 World Championship Finals".
This must be a dream to watch for anyone working in art and animation.

JB Blanc, the voice of Vander, also voices some characters LoL proper, mainly the champion Braum. I love how some VAs were hired for their larger range yet some from the game remained to prove they can do more.

@@artxroyalty if Braum does get into an animated show like Arcane, like the ones Christian confirmed are in the works, I do think they'll keep JB! He has the range, as shown in Arcane, and Braum has a very different personality and delivery than Vander. Could be a while before we get him tho. It's likely that the next Arcane-esque show we get will be focused on Noxus, what with Mel's family being so heavily involved and her mom becoming an in game champion, so the Noxus champions will probably be next up. ( Tho I bet Riot can find ways to bring in characters from whatever region they want given how good the writing in Arcane s1 was. )

13:30 because ingame jinx Didnt really have that vulnerable emotional side to her just yet. The game VA was probably only really good at the crazy manic loud voice
I was familiar wtih the actor who plays Jayce. If you ever watch the TV show LUCIFER, he plays Lt. Dan. Of course there's Shoreh Aghadashloo who plays Grayson and is known for her part on The Expanse. Rigging is fairly basic and the more complex the model the longer it takes. How many bones do you need, what way does it move, how does it deform the other verticies.... For the hoverboards, I'm thinking they were riding skateboards or something. The show has more painters than animators. They really did do all the dialog in advanced. Longer than I would have thought but they might have been delay and had to do some extra sessions for new or changed scenes.
I won't complain about waiting 2/3+ years for more content, but I truly believe that we could drastically cut down on the wait time if TV/Movie/ streaming companies would be a little more brave and less cheap when it comes to producing content. All new show should be greenlit with a minimum guarantee of 3 seasons. It the creators/writers/actors/animators/fx teams knew from jump that they would have at least 3 seasons then they could get to work on S2 and 3 right away, possibly before S1 even airs. If S2 is almost in the can and production on S3 is already started when S1 is aired, then it shouldn't take so long for the next season to make it to the screen. I know there are always other variables(the pandemic was a big one for everyone), but this could drastically cut down on wait time between Seasons or sequels.

For the love of God be cautious out here, there was a major leak at Netflix and the first five episodes of Arcane season 2 are online.
I imagine they would look up videos of snowboarders to reference ekkos hoverboard movements etc.
It's so great to watch you get as invested in the show as I've been for the last two years, it just makes me really happy. It's like sharing something you love with a friend😊
I can also recommend an interview with lead animator Alexis Wanneroy on youtube. I was reminded of it while watching you, because at one point they touch upon references for the hoverboards😉
And also that one shot of Caitlyn that you you didn't recognize where she's on the couch with her father is actually a little sneak peak at season 2. It is speculated that it's from the aftermath of Jinx's rocket😢
The RIOT guy who messaged you is in one of the last episodes I think. He does sound design and it's actually crazy how creative they got

If I had unlimited resources, I would print out every frame of Arcane and use them to wallpaper my home.
Massive disclaimer that I have no experience with animation at all, but if I were to take a crack at how they possibly animated the Firelights on hover boards, I could imagine just using normal skateboards or surfboards as reference for the stance and movement. In theory they just need to be balanced on them.

Regarding animation, alot of talk has been happening in the anime community around animators and how the companies press them for time, which results in sub par animation, er either unfinished animation, or animation that we the audience and the animators KNOW could be better IF they had the time.
But yea all this stuff is really interesting, I really do wish I learned how to do some of this. I was thinking about downloading Blender and watching youtube vids to learn a little.

@@artxroyalty yes, ma'am. For me, at least, the last song of the series captured the essence of the entire plot, not just Jinx's and Vi's. It captured the pain and suffering of Zaun under Piltover and the Chembarons (Silco and co) and how this years of suffering has forced Zaun to exert chaos to reach freedom.
