    So many gems of advice in here. My personal favorite travel hack for clothes is to anticipate buying more clothes so I always pack light in that sense LOL.

      @edwardleefilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL. Dude this is facts. High key wish I didn’t pack even this much so I could bring back more clothes. I bought a few things over there

    One advice on clothing - upgrade it to some merino wool stuff and you'll see how much more lightweight and compact it will become compared to denim/cotton or hoodies you have now. There are some good brands like Icebreaker there with lots of options, including pants, etc.

      Which brands would u recommend?

    • @kamsable

      @@mariaineslucas3196 Ridge Merino, Unbound Merino, Aviator USA, Icebreaker that I already mentioned. Lots of options!

      I agree on denim pants as they’re super bulky per articles but I went all in on merino wool and ended up switching back to cotton for my shirts. After being a real zealot for merino, I realized the benefits were minimal/offset by the cost and mild itchiness.

    • @Kyle-if4jg

      @@mariaineslucas3196 unbound merino. Pricey but most pure merino wool stuff is. I own their long sleeves and crew shirts and they are crazy comfortable. I live in vail, Colorado 8200 ft elevation and they keep me warm on chilly days and nice and cool when the sun is beaming. I Love that entire brand

    Such a huge fan and I love this video! When and why did you switch away from the c70?

    • @edwardleefilms
      @edwardleefilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I actually still have the C70 but have been using it much less. I find the FX3 to be so much more convenient most of the time due to the size, dual native ISO, and AF. The C70 is really great too but just find myself leaving it behind most of the time.

    • @SebastianCristanchoYT
      @SebastianCristanchoYT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edwardleefilms yeah man true sometimes I find it super bulky as well, at first that’s exactly what I wanted - like a huge built out cinema rig - but in practice and for on the go / travel it is just a lot. The FX3 is so cool, I was looking into an R5 for the same reason but in my opinion the image doesn’t compare. Maybe one day I’ll venture down the Sony ecosystem too! How’d you find the switch over? Did you just get like 1 or 2 lenses to start off?

  • @cameratests
    @cameratests 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have a Huawei hotspot too! Did a multi country trip in 2018 and bought an unlocked phone, turned on hotspot with a EU sim and had like 30GB shared. Clutch option for sure.

      @@edwardleefilms Hey! I'm just wondering what's the difference/benefit of using a hotspot versus just putting the sim card into your unlocked phone? Just curious cause I've never used one :) Awesome video!

    • @cameratests
      @cameratests 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Biancastefano Edward can chime in more. For us it was battery life and heat with a phone. Nothing a power bank couldn't fix as well as turning off the phone occasionally. We literally used it all day and both my phone and my wife's were constantly connected to it.

    • @cameratests
      @cameratests 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to add one thing I forgot. Our hotspot has an Ethernet port. If we want to prioritize a connection on something like our MacBook Pro with an adapter, we can. Minor feature but can be really handy.

    Were you able to carry on both the Peak Design backpack and the Away carry-on? For an upcoming flight to Europe, I can take a carry-on and a personal item, but they both look larger than the max for a personal item.

    • @edwardleefilms
      @edwardleefilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I was able to. The PD backpack definitely get's big so I usually end up just putting both the carry-on and my backpack up in the storage if there is extra room. But I have never run into any problems with trying to bring both on

  • @xylo2007
    @xylo2007 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I never would have thought of doing a hot spot device instead of using the European SIM card directly in my phone. Is there anything specific that lead you to that choice? Just the ability to use it with multiple phones?

    • @edwardleefilms
      @edwardleefilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The ability to use multiple phones and devices is the main reason. And it’s just easier to change the sim in and out

    I feel that the issues with all these travel video is that recently a lot of the airlines are restrictive about weight (not necessarily about size). For example my 20L PD everyday backpack is quite compact however it is often over weight as some local airlines limits to 7kg. I don't mind paying a little extra but some airlines don't even have that option.

    • @velyvely6479
      @velyvely6479 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think thanks to social media they're realising we have learnt some tricks lol and many of us are doing one-bag travel so they have to charge us somehow! its insane that you have to pay to travel with a bag..

    What accessories (filters, hood, strap…) do you recommend for the X100V?

    • @edwardleefilms
      @edwardleefilms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just rock a filter to be able to put other filters on it (pro mist, bloom, etc.) Then also a hand grip to make it more comfortable to hold. Then a camera strap.
