Decelerator is used to regulate power to avoid spinning tracks. Spinning is loss of traction, loss of productivity, needless track wear, and extra fuel burned for nothing.
With my ears ringing I wished I could. Still do! I really liked the lod low speed engines. You work them in 2nd and get them good and hot, they'd really do some digging.

Good old 8. Ran one a lot with a ripper ,no cab and no muffler, working cuts, clearing and pushing pans. She'd snort!
