I am a server at a restaurant we have an inside quote, that we are technically one step up from prostitutes. We are definitely service workers. This movie hits anyone who works at restaurants so hard, because the context of the absurdity is true.
I'm a dishwisher who works in the restaurant business in my area too. I know how it is at times and know how pretentious the whole thing can be. There has been many times where I wanted to quit and find another job due a few reasons. We're definitely service workers like you mentioned and sometimes, people don't appreciate the hard work we do.
I'm an ex server. I over stand. I'm not saying I would die for my job, but I understand. Food service is a brutal job, always trying to please people whose entertainment is to brutalize the staff. I am surprised that there aren't high rates of suicide in the food and beverage industry. 😢
@@cusegurl66 On the other hand, the rates of substance abuse in the restaurant industry are very much above average. It's not suicide, but it's self-destructive and can lead to suicide later on, even after one leaves the industry
@@rodgill9376 did my time in a kitchen, from dishwasher to breakfast cook. Had trouble getting clean dishes. Told the dishwashers, they weren't 'dish dogs', that they were the most important part of a kitchen. Food can't go out on dirty dishes. They did much better.
Anya improved punching her costar when her character finds out he knew she would die if he brought her. She was originally supposed to just weep but Anya was like, nah fuck that, he catchin hands for that😂😂😂
Fun Fact: the cheeseburger scene is the only time that someone is eating real food (the food through throughout the film was props). Everyone was so hungry that John Leguizamo ended up ordering burgers and fries for everyone. And I so ended up making a juicy cheeseburger and crinkle fries after watching it for the first time!
It was real food It was just cold much of the time They did tricks to make it seem fresh The only person who had to eat everything was Nicholas Hoult He said the worst part was the different oils that he had to eat in the bread less bread plate scene A legit French chef was brought in to make all of the meals for the movie and to help Ralph Fiennes get into that mindset
I felt touched by destiny because I decided to make myself a burger and maybe check on a movie and a review for this movie popped into my recommendations so I was cool and dang did my burger tasted amazing with this film
The cheeseburger scene has never made sense to me because they chose to include 6 words, "There are no substitutions at Hawthorn!" They did not have to include this line, but they did. Why? For a character like the Chef, this would have overridden any and all fond memories from some distant past.
anya's character, an escort or whatever, knows how to become the person that her clients want and that saved her life. in the chef's case, she played the unsatisfied customer that just wanted to eat and wanted the chef to cook something so simple as a burger, and in turn she made the chef feel what he felt before all the pretentious bs. anyway what a nice movie, great reaction as always!
The way both y'all were dying for that Burger! 😂 Don't blame you, cause that thing looked tasty AF 🤤 On another note, hope you guys bounce back quick from being sick 🤢 The last thing anyone wants to do during Christmas season is be down with a bug, it sucks being sick.
The irony is that after I watched the movie the first time, I wanted a cheeseburger so badly, that I ended up having one of my co-workers make me one. The music didn't help lol.
Hey guys, I love your energy and your reactions. I was a waitress in college, and for a little after that. I remember how some customers treated me, and other waitresses. The chef was a nightmare, too, lol. "Chef Boy R Demon", so funny!
Almost 30 years ago I had a meal at a long gone restaurant that stays with me even now....mmmmm drooling to even remember it. "Celestial Chicken" was the name of the dish, and it featured a chicken breast stuffed with lump crabmeat and topped with Hollandaise sauce.🤤
What I loved about this movie is that it doesn't do that "The villain is actually making a pretty good point" thing that a lot of movies do with their villains. Everything the chef does in this is wrong, like definitively WRONG. As you guys said, none of the guests were "innocent" per se but none of them were so guilty they deserved to burn alive and that was what gave it it's impact, the villain was just INSANE and not just insane but realistically, quietly insane. Up till the end of course.
Being insane doesn’t mean you’re wrong. The movie is a critique of capitalism and the rich, and while Fiennes is definitely out of pocket, he didn’t find that space on his own. The pretension and justification of the rich treating poor people like crap contributed to him ending up there. The whole point of the movie is that Anya Taylor-Joy lives because she sees the value in reasonable consumption rather than in excessively consuming anything the way the rich might. She only takes what she needs and what she can reasonably pay for with her own labor, and it creates equilibrium.
when i first watched this movie, i started watching it just for the burger scene, i genuinely thought it was just a weird and cool food movie, after the first suicide i was in constant tension, love it.
No. I don't think the soue chef's are brainwashed. The chef profession is a very cutthroat career. These people gave up friends, family, relationships, hobbies, joy and so on. These people are simply broken. As bad as these guests are (excluding Margot) the kitchen brought on its own misery by continuing this particular path. These people have nothing to go back, and probably believe there is nothing to look forward to.
OMGGG FINALLLYYYYY !!!! IM SOOOO HYPED FOR THIS REACTION !! seriously, guys, thank you so much for the joy you bring me and all of us !! Congratulations on everything !! And I can't wait to see more of you !! ❤❤❤ ALL LOVE FROM MOROCCO 🇲🇦 ❤️
Which is why they wanted Daniel Radcliff playing an exaggerated version of himself as the actor. He wasn't available, so we get John Leguizamo playing basically Steven Seagal.
I always love how you guys get SO INTO anything you're watching, no matter what it is.When I saw you had a reaction to this movie I just had to watch and I enjoyed every second of it.
I am aware that some reactors were confused about why Felicity was there so allow me to explain. Felicity represents everything wrong with the business and how customers act. She, unlike Chef, came from a rich background and also unlike Chef, she never had to work for it since everything was paid for her. She also flat out admitted to stealing from her boss, which why would anyone need to do so if you're rich and making more money than most people. Unless if you're just a greedy person, which is the type of person Felicity is. Also note what while we all can agree that Chef Slowik is indeed the main villain here, he's not the one who set this whole thing into motion. That was all Katherine. Which is pretty wild and sick. She's the real villain in this in my opinion. True, Slowik did try to sexually assault her but her plan to kill everyone, even those who had nothing to do with it, really shows that she's just as fucked up in the head, if not worse than Julian. Least Julian admits that he's a shitty person lol.
There are always cult members like Katherine willing to go to the extreme to impress their leader. I'm not sure she would've come up with such an idea if she had never been exposed to Slowik and his intense cult of personality for years.
Many people also miss why the actor is there. It's not simply that Chef Slowik didn't like the movie. The actor betrayed his art. He knew it was a bad movie and participated anyway.
@@JeshuaSquirrel That and while Slowik may have grown disillusioned with his art, he still gives it his all. So he finds a fellow artist half-assing it like Leguizamo's character did on that film utterly offensive.
"I've had food that was so good that after every bite you have to like savor it and just appreciate what you're tasting." "Like that double-stack burger from Nifty Fifty's?" 😆🤣
Ralph Fiennes (Chef) is an absolute legend. He's a world renowned stage actor, Lord Voldemort, and one of the most evil Villains in Neeson's Schindler's List... multiple time Oscar nominee. He's brilliant in this role!
I love the theory that they served the old bacteria filled meat they focused on in the beginning for the cheeseburger so they still “got” Margo at the end
That movie was off the chain and I enjoyed every minute of it because I've never seen anything like it before. The only other thing I have to add is that I was right there with the two of you about that cheeseburger he made for her. I wanted one of those myself it looked so good. If I ever get the chance I'm going to make a burger and fries meal just like it and eat the hell out of it savoring every bite. Damn, y'all some fools with that "baby oil" skit. Had me rolling and gasping for air.🤣 Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.
I loved your commentary on this and it was really interesting to watch you guys get surprised as everything unfolded. I think you guys should definitely give The Society of the Snow a chance next

Anya Taylor Joy ( l heard Emma Stone was originally going to do this role, what a disappointment that would have been) was incredible. I couldn't stop starring at her EYES, f*cking gorgeous, especially at the end on the boat, when she's looking back at the fire, and her eyes go from deep rich black to RED!
What do you guys think of that cheeseburger? Didn't they set it up earlier in the movie that if the meat wasn't prepared correctly, that it can send an embolism into the brain and make it pop? And when she bit into that burger at the end there was a weird snapping sound.
I can’t help but think that being in a bad movie wasn’t the only reason the actor had to die. It he wasn’t trying to become the next foodie celebrity he wouldn’t have been picked!
