What if I don't want to hold the stock , but I want to only sell it , can I still book losses?

I have account in zerodha. 2 days back my Intraday/ speculative profit was Rs 84479, Short term profit was Rs 571656 and Long Term profit was Rs 14580. I booked Short Term loss of Rs 100977 yesterday. Today when I click the Tax harvesting link, it is showing "Tax-loss harvesting opportunity doesn't exist". Why is it so, what should I do. Regards, Mrs Rehna Ghosh

      Hi Rehna,
The main reason for this can be that your stocks are no longer in losses. The current price is higher than the purchase price and hence you cannot book losses as you are in profits.
Another reason can be that when you had checked 2 days back, the market would have been down and now the market have gone higher.
Try adjusting the profits again long term carry forward losses from previous years if any (and if declared in ITR). Else see if market goes down in next few days making your current price lower than purchase price.
Hope I have been able to answer your query. Keep watching and sharing with others if you find my content useful.

Instead of selling N shares first and buying N shares back again tomorrow at different price, cant we buy N shares first at today's price and then sell N shares? This way it will be done in one day only. Is that correct understanding?

You can use any approach - sell first and buy later or buy first and sell later.. btw, I had recommended doing this within few minutes 😀

@@savemoremoney-nishant Yes. I asked for confirmation. Thanks for this nice trick which does the job in one day only.

@@anupthakare6679 Hi, if i sell and buy the same day in delivery, will that not be considered as intraday by the system and the loss or profit will be considered as intraday and not against capital loss? can you please clarify

@@livelife9436 yes it's considered intraday so buy it again on the next day or any coming days forward with the loss bearing price to book loss
