Fine talk. I just can’t accept the bit about being punished for eternity. We have empathy for ones who are imprisoned and tortured for decades, as in Guantanamo Bay. We cannot imagine the suffering of such ones. Would a God who is the very essence of love, as described in 1 John 4:8, condemn his human creation to an eternity of far worse suffering. Surely the “Lake of fire” , as with all the other symbols of the book of Revelation, is just that - a SYMBOL of complete destruction. Wouldn’t condemning someone to an eternity of suffering amount to worse than what the devil has brought on mankind - suffering and anguish? Surely a God of justice would just take incorrigibly wicked ones out of existence.
