I've only had one of those black Luxardo cherries once, at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin, it was an Irish take on an old fashioned, called a Bow Street Fashioned, made with Jameson whiskey (the distillery was on Bow Street). It was pretty good.
Longer and longer, it seems! We've been working on this for 3 months, but of course not full time. For this one, the research maybe 30-50 hours, writing 30 hours, images and animation another 30-40, recording voiceover & editing, then editing the final product, maybe 10-20? We don't track our time, which is maybe for the best because now that I write it down it seems a bit overwhelming! We have two people working on it in between our 'real' jobs.

@9:24...That street is pronounced "How-ston", not pronounced like the Texas city. Bartenders were rock stars in the 19th century. The most famous of them wrote several books of recipes and memoirs, and provides pretty good evidence for that bartender named Black who tended bar south of How-ston, an area referred to as SOHO.
Yes, we've been informed -- I guess the name functioned properly as a shibboleth, since it made it clear that we haven't spent much time in New York! And yeah, I talked about some other famous bartenders more in my early videos about the word "Cocktail" itself.
I lo e how mich detail and work went into the research, but i really came to hear about the cocktail and im 30min in have basically just learned where some words came from. I would really like less about stuff that does not pertain to the actual drink.

@@Alliterative Curious, but how do you do the animations? What software do you use to draw and navigate over the connected items map?
I put the images together in Inkscape & animate with Sozi, then we screen capture that & edit it together with the voiceover.
