Poignant, truthful and an accurate reflection of whe re and how we got to where we are... and while not prsytletyizing, but suggesting that we continue to share with each other,.. and leave the RHETORIC BEHIND. WELL SAID PREACHER1 WELL SAID!
Rev Moss, I do not know you and in fact prior to this video I had never heard your name. I have watched this several times. I have to tell you, I'm stunned. I have never seen that type of courage in a pulpit. While many Black Clergy are busy pimping poverty and preaching fire and brimstone you take a stand. This is what is missing in the Church. Real men. Real warriors. I am not of the church. But if I were, I would attend yours. Bravo Sir. There is hope after all.
I admit that I had lost faith in the religious community because of how they treat people who are not likened to them. This is a well thought out response regarding the debate between civil law and religious doctrine. I applaud you Rev. Moss III. You're a shining beacon of humanity.
Dr. Moss only those standing can't be stepped on! Thank you for helping us by sharing real gospel for The Bible said, love thy neighbor as thy self ... How can we be true believes of His Word and not love as Christ loves, how can we know It and not live it! Thank again for not allow others to step on us, but respect us!
I JUST finished saying the same thing on FB. Oooooooo, that letter has me pumped up! Let's focus on real issues and keep the government in it's proper perspective. " Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's."
Bless you Rev Moss! You covered much ground and outlined a path for true Christians to follow...based on fact, not on rhetoric. Love, Gregory from Salt Lake City, a married man raising a family with love.
Thanks God for Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III for your words. I left the baptist church due to uncultivated, narrow-minded, and uneducated ministers and pastors. Church and State are separated. I like how we deciphered RIGHT and RITE. Again, I can tell that Rev. Dr. Moss III is highly educated, informed, and cultivated. Now, that I am Catholic when I attend church, the entire service is centered around Christ. We are celebrating his death and his resurrection. Peace be with you all !
I'm an agnostic atheist but I love what he said. I hope that all people, not just religious, will follow the ideas of tolerance and the necessity for discussion he advocates.
I truly appreciate this Reverend, and more so, the fact that he's a real black man. There was no conditions on showing love and respecting your neighbor. Jesus loved everybody unconditionally and said that's one of God's greatest commandments. If there were more black churches like this, many black gay people wouldn't feel so unwelcome and taught that they have no dignity, and would be more willing to listen to God's true word of love and community building.
Dispite the negative rhetoric coming from some Black Pastors, we will support our brothers and sisters. Pastors who speak out against equal rights for everyone are guilty of Judging which tells me that they really don't understand the fullness of God's Word. Since the beginning, God gave man 'free will'. We can make choices some good and some not so good. It is God who will be the judge...not man. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Period. Thank you Pastor Moss.
PREACH!!!!! Favorite excerpt: "Gay people have NEVER been the enemy, and when we use rhetoric to suggest that they are the source of all our problems, we lie on God and cause tears to fall from the eyes of Christ." Amen!
This is what all of us as preachers and members of Clergy needs to stand up this Sunday and tell our churches. I couldn't agree with him more......As a Black man, As a black Preacher I stand in solidarity with on this.....
We have been challenged before. Dr, Martin Luther King Jr. fought against Blac k Pastors' attacks. But...we moved forward. So, once again, we're are faced with division. If you remember your history, We did overcome.
Pastor, your letter was beautifully written. I want to thank you for addressing this issue in truth and recognizing that the separation of church and state does not mean the destruction of any faith in the United States. Thank you for looking at the issue in its entirety with love.
Wow, Dr. Moss. Tears roll and I listen to you express the heart of truth. Wish the volume was a bit louder and hope that this goes viral across cyberspace. All religious leaders; especially protestants, view this one. Bless you, sir.
Sometimes you hear a word that brings tears of joy to your eyes. I am so empressed to know that there are some of us who are strong enough stand for what God has commissioned us to do...tell the truth. God bless you Pastor. Yours in Christ, Rev. Dr. Jordan Davis
