It is odd she chose such an old song. Like yeah it’s a bop (this version anyway) but it does sound dated.
It has some vibes like Kesha's TikTok & Die Young, Katy's Teenage Dream, and Taylor's I Knew You Were Trouble. No wonder this fraud Jojo Siwa stole this song from early 2010s.

I'm sure most of the people that hate on the song when Jojo sings it.. Mostly like has some kind of underlying homophobia.
@@mar-ui2sr Ah yes, because all female singers sound the same and give identical performances.
For everybody asking “what’s so different about the 2 versions” not much with the lyrics, but if you notice anything, just listen to how 2 artists (Brit Smith and Jojo) are singing about karma coming to bite them back in the ass for some messy actions. We have Brit who has that power, that ump in her voice. She knows what she did, she knows that her actions have caused pain and are coming back to her. Yet she still accepts her actions, making a point that her karma has gotten her and she won’t let either sides win in this story.
Jojo’s official version for one, doesn’t even showcase her more raspy and lower toned voice because she fights to keep this higher tone within her music despite her shifting gears on her target audience. Which would be fine if she could sing higher, but she can’t. Yet, her forcing it through auto-tune, alleged songs that were used to enhance her high notes and her voice, and pitch correction has all caused her official version to crash down. When Jojo sings about karma, she sounds childish, she sounds like she isn’t even facing this karma that has supposedly come to get her. She sounds…scared, as if there’s still uncertainty in her mind about this karma. And honestly, it could’ve been a good take on her version if her setup for the plot was different but it wasn’t.
Even the vibes of these 2 versions were far from similar. Brit’s gives you this 2010’s vibe, a high fashion/runway era, to put it simply, a song for the club. Yet it could still be enjoyed as an emotional experience with how mature Brit’s voice is, she has that power to make this song fit into various vibes while still getting through to everyone that karma’s a bitch. Jojo’s gives this edgy, almost horror movie vibe to match the music video, she added in some intense moments but the way it came off to her viewers was obviously cringey. She tried very hard to turn her karma into something supernatural, while karma easily could’ve just been a memory, a person, or herself. She tried too hard to focus on elevating her vocals to fit the tune of the song that she fell off when it came to giving the song substance, it’s as if the whole vibe of karma got tossed out for some horror-esque moments in the music video.
Personally, both songs aren’t amazing lyrically, Brit’s works more because she was meant to release this in like 2013, so her lyrics would’ve went over greatly. Now? For Jojo? Not so much. But in terms of vocals, the artists themselves, and the whole vibe of these 2 versions, Brit’s version easily has that superiority. There was just more thought and creativity that went into it than just “I needed a change of scenery and this was the way to do it.” So, I will be rightfully listening to this version and enjoying Brit’s amazing take on Karma, with Karma’s A Bitch
A big difference is jojo can’t sing

I wouldn’t know because I was born in 2012 but the songs I grew up listening to that were hits in that era sounded somewhat like this.
As a former gacha kid ...The gacha community would have gone GAGA over this.
I mean overall, I usually don’t like to automatically declare ‘facts’ on things right away. But I solely believe this version blows Jojo’s version way out of the water.
You can already hear right off the bat that This lady’s vocals is rich with personality, thanks to the vocal fry. And was musically directed in a way that had more substance. A consistent beat, it sounds more grounded a bit natural. All in a way where you can ACTUALLY take the singer seriously as she sings about herself. Even the little things like Brit’s less high pitched voice factors into this. I swear this would have been a hit of a club song back in the day because it builds up to get you hyped when the chorus plays out. And something I would gladly listen to over and over in full volume.
JoJo’s cover felt like all that substance was taken away? I don’t know why they decided to cut out that beat, It feels so empty. The instrumental just flows on and on, She just…Sings? Does that make any sense? If her version kept some of the vocal sfx, it might have been a tad bit better.
From the impression I’m getting, the way Jojo sings softly at the beginning, can be taken as something of reminiscence or even regret. Or someone of uncertainty.
Brit Smith comes off as strong, certain and assertive. She knows what she is saying, and she doesn’t back down from it. But you would be more inclined to believe more that she is calling herself out and scolding her past bad behaviour. I think this sort of tone suits the song more, especially with the lyrics.
I Agree With You 100%!!!!!!
100% agree
Your description couldn’t be more accurate.
@@officialfrozenboy I don’t know if you knew about this. But I also found out some people, I don’t know if their trolls or actual JoJo Siwa fans, say that this version sucks and that JoJo’s version is more better because it’s Modern. And that Brit’s version is outdated.
Which while I get opinions exist. That argument is really Odd. Considering that JoJo’s version has been considered by many as Generic Dance Pop. To me
It’s not the worst. I still don’t like it. But it’s still Generic. You can find many trending songs that sound almost the same in vibe and instrumentals.
And which Is pretty funny. Because if you look at some other songs modern songs these days, you would see that we are trying to mimic older trends. We want Nostalgia back. The Early 2000s Trance, the 80s city pop, all that other stuff.
I don't think it's vocal fry that makes her voice more interesting: it's the lack of unnecessary autotune and the fact that unlike Jojo Brit is actually talented vocally. Jojo is not a singer and her voice is autotuned to heck. She also sings the song mostly in the same vocal register meanwhile Brit's vocals have more variety. I think what you meant by vocal fry is actually vocal growl by the way, because Brit does do a bit of that in the song (I don't think she did vocal fry but I'm also Finnish and very used to vocal fry so do correct me if I just missed it). Brit does not have a lower voice in this than Jojo Siwa either to my ear: they both sound similar in pitch I think. It just all comes down to Brit having more experience in singing and not needing autotune
Jojo needs to atleast tell everyone who wrote it. This girl deserves the credit!
Edit: I read that some guy wrote it and after miley cyrus rejected it Brit got the song. Still, I saw an interview where jojo said she wrote it so that's just weird lol.
Brit didn't write this song
Agreed, but Miley was the one who wrote this song I believe, but gave it to Brit then unfortunately resulting in Jojo buying the rights to this song..👎🏼
@@ComfyBee no ... Miley didn't write it ....let's be clear the person who wrote the song is credited in the song itself, the person who wrote it, got credit already!
Miley did write it look it up
Regardless who wrote it jojo doesn’t need to give credit to anyone as long as she’s not claiming she wrote this song, she bought the rights and can use the song lol
