Did I miss something or did you not include the stuff the animals we eat, eat? Cause those cows that are bred for optimal milk yield and chickens that are bred for laying eggs eat a lot more than what they would find themselves in/on the ground, no matter the space they have...
Also, cows are raised on grass until they are ready for finishing on a feedlot. They spend about 2-4 years on pasture and then 3-6 months in feedlots. The amount they get on a feedlot can vary but it isn't as much as you would think even though it is intended to increase yield. The point is these people want to limit cost(in food) but increase yield(by giving enough food and medicine to prevent disease) and get beef processed for payday. Another point, a vast majority of ranch land is not farmable and would probably just be overrun by elk and deer without ranching(even though that happens currently WITH ranches).
Awesome video :) It opens your eyes and it's just crazy how much place you need :\ After I've seen this, I'm going to try to minimize the place I need :) It won't change much, but it's a starting point :\ Your videos are very informative and look awesome :) Very great work as always! :D When I scrolled up to look how many subscribers you have, I was very disappointed :( I expected 2 .5 millions, because that is at least the number you would deserve :\ I'm going to recommend you to my friends :) And now I wish you a good day! ^^ Bella
In the end it is a huge food energy loss passing edible grain through animals to get food for humans and a waste of land grazing animals. People need to learn to make their dietary habits good for the environment.
I just checked the food that I'm eating for 6 days. It totals to 8596 grams for a total of 14114 calories. 70% Fat, 22% Protein and 8% Carb. So mine is 1.4 kg per day.
Greg Foot here's my intake that I cooked for 6 days. I use cronometer website to track. goo.gl/photos/7XLSqvpquok7hrAs5. I usually cook for a week. And the reason being my intake is lower than 2kg because I'm on High fat diet (keto). Fat is more calorie dense.
oh wops, the 'meat' part was a mistype by me, i did indeed mean 'food' though, admittedly i do actually.. almost only eat meat (no vegetables) so that might be why i accidently wrote 'meat'
I'm a whole food vegan who doesn't drink alcohol nor use more than the necessary sugar (stevia) or oil (I barely use it), so at 5:50 I had only used about 1 parking space! lol. I feel good.
have a watch of the video on our sister channel @BBCEarthUnplugged asking What would happen if everyone in the world became vegan? th-cam.com/video/ytFwytWK1Bw/w-d-xo.html
Isn't this like saying that a ship can haul stuff cheaper than a truck? While the premise is true, the reality is not. How many grocery stores are on deep water ports? And how close do you live to one? And who is going to build a railroad track between my house and grandma's? According to him the avarerage person will drink about 28 shots of liquor a week. There are a whole lot of people under the age of 15 that don't drink any... It is programs like this video that teach people not to think. Matthias Y. Reich He says that they hadn't included that in the video.

This is very informative. Well done BBC
this was fun to watch and informative
Jonathan S. cheers Jonathan!
I loved this video. I came looking for learn more about the item and I did, of course, but I also loved the guy. Well done, well done.
At least the size of the amazon rainforest
People in the future:oh that’s tiny
Alson Lim it’s true is it not?
Wait, what about the food that our food eats? Like corn for cows. That will likely multiply the space
Awesome video :)

Thanks Bella - for the lovely words and for sharing us far and wide :-D
you too!
Right Jack, come here!
Finally learned what the atom symbol means! I can die in peace now
Wait! Just imagine box for Schrodinger's cow thought experiment?
How much of a parking space this box would occupy? ;)
nice vid greg
I have subscribed for the video
this is fun to watch.
BBC world news I know it is fun helps me to understand
You forgot the last type of food= Space Food :P!
Disappointed at the lack of the word "FOOD PRINT" 😂
No one gonna mention that blue lettuce. 'The disadvantages of green screening salad'
Your amazing
Greenscreens don't like salad tough it seems
I probably eat about 70 chickens a year
Legs are one of the cheapest sources of meat currently.
You should really switch to a set, a blue screen or learn to edit out the background from reflections and green objects.
In the end it is a huge food energy loss passing edible grain through animals to get food for humans and a waste of land grazing animals. People need to learn to make their dietary habits good for the environment.
"A hen produces double now" what's that? An item duplicator?
Don't worry greg I hate sea food
Play Scenes what?
What is the power efficiency of the human body? Amount of chemcial energy changed into thermal, kinetic, etc. energies.
very low
According to Morpheus from the Matrix, the human body generates more than 25000 BTUs, which is apparently more than 26 kiloJoule or roughly 7,3kWh

lockhrt999 wow that's cool. What do you use to log your grub intake? [And as I explained 2kg is a worldwide average]
So that's what those atom symbols are for
Fat people Apocalypse! Nice burger buddy
Nice blue salad!
hahahahah good point!
I blame Jack... (not you Jack Carver, our editor Jack)
Greg Foot But how do you know _I_ wasn't the one who eat your burger! Ha! :)
green screen mayhem!?
So just reduce beef consumption, other kind of meat are quite space efficient
So tomatoes are vegetables now?
I want to see, how they grow food to raise a 100 kg pig on 10 squaremeters and also providing livingspace for it. :P
I'm sure a chicken doesn't require 1m² of space. Aren't they caged all of the time?
We are attempting to reduce our "food print" by eliminating beef from our diet. Anyone else?
Wow, I thought the comments would be about the video not a war between vegans and non-vegans.
Tomatoes are a fruit btw..
poor Daisy's boyfriend
Hi Malton school
it's hoof-shaped.
So that's what the atom symbol means! Lol
Anyone else watching this for food tech??
If I eat too much of sugar just don’t eat anything! :)
Am I the only one to pick up that tomato is a fruit not a vegetable?
Simple, its because of the glutamato monossodico
what is the blue filling in his burger?
green screen error. Probably something like green lettuce
2 kilos daily? that sounds like a lot, specially for me, might have to measure that
Where do I buy blue sallad? :D
How to make everything!
Beef coMes from bees mate
we really eat an average of 2kg's of meat everyday? thats alot...
edit: i mean 'food' not 'meat'
EnderCrypt um, ~2kg of "food" not meat... unless you only eat meat...
EnderCrypt FYI, 'alot' is not one word. Rather, it is a lot.
oh wops, the 'meat' part was a mistype by me, i did indeed mean 'food'
though, admittedly i do actually.. almost only eat meat (no vegetables) so that might be why i accidently wrote 'meat'
EnderCrypt you've got meat on the brain meat. I mean mate. Or maybe meat. Who knows.
Greg Foot Woooooooooooow 😂😂
Red meats, and chicken. Fried chicken shrimp chicken all kinds chickens.
Tomatoes are fruit mate
The vegan promotion reminds me of religious indoctrination.
lamb > beef
in taste? Hmmm that's going to be an interesting one to debate in the comments...
I think Jack is dead.
I'm a whole food vegan who doesn't drink alcohol nor use more than the necessary sugar (stevia) or oil (I barely use it), so at 5:50 I had only used about 1 parking space! lol. I feel good.
👍
I eat rice
Imagine someone on a high calorie intake eg normal person 2000 calories me 4100
So it just takes up a fraction of the available land on earth.
idk wht he is on about :///////
Rlly
So why did we murder daisies boyfriend again?
go vegan
have a watch of the video on our sister channel @BBCEarthUnplugged asking What would happen if everyone in the world became vegan? th-cam.com/video/ytFwytWK1Bw/w-d-xo.html
aly then its your choice :)
no bitch
No, we are designed to eat food, not do spells to elongate your life like you somehow do
Isn't this like saying that a ship can haul stuff cheaper than a truck?
