  • Wondering how long vermeil chains really last before they fade or show signs of silver underneath?
In this video, I give you an 8-month update after wearing my vermeil chain regularly.
I’ll show you how it’s holding up, and I’ll compare it to solid 14k and 18k gold pieces to see how the colors match up.
If you’re thinking about investing in a vermeil piece or curious about how it holds up compared to solid gold, you won’t want to miss this.
Watch until the end to see if vermeil is worth it for your jewelry collection!

So tempted to get a vermeil rope from Harlem bling. But I also love Hawaiian rope chains as well but it’s real solid gold. Price is high but it does last longer. Might have to save for the solid.

@@kurtsam5972 haha that’s awesome! Love that! Guys I got it up just in time. Hope it helped on your decision to get vermeil or not. I’ve been loving it so far. I think it’s a great bang for your buck, especially if you just want to try different sizes and styles for a bit before plunging big bucks in the solid gold 👍🏽

The vermeil is fading a bit but not to bad I can see it verses the new piece, and clearly with the real gold stuff. For the money the vermeil stuff is not to bad. Personally I would just get a silver piece and be done with it. But I’m like you I have that gold fever. I generally wear one of my 4mm rope chains. One with a cross and one with a st Christopher pendant. I’d like to have bigger chains but just not in my budget right now. Jewelry is a terrible investment. It’s only worth the value of scrap gold. It’s overpriced art. But like I said I have the gold fever too 😅
Just have to wear what I can afford.

@@ShinyKnife thanks for the feedback! Well yep, it still looks pretty similar to the solid 14k gold. Main difference is that you have to be a little more careful with it and keep an eye out for that silver peepin out. So far, 2 pieces are going pretty strong though 7+ months. And that’s without being as careful with it! So it just depends on what you’re looking for.
Nice! That sounds like a solid every day piece 👌🏽. Don’t be ashamed of rockin that right now. As you could see, I had that 6mm, ended up putting it for sale because I wear the smaller ones more often. No need to do too much. Gold is gold.
And there much better investments for sure, but also much worse things you can waste your money on than gold. And regardless, the scrap metal price still goes up! 😉

@ yep your right gold scrap does still go up in price. I made a mistake in my comment my chains are 4mm rope chains not 3mm. I know what you’re saying about worse things to invest in. I have quite a few guns and you can only get about half the price of what they’re worth if I was to sell them

@@ShinyKnife oh 4mm? even better! definitely not too small then, so don’t ever worry about that, trust me. That’s what I wear when working.
And that’s a nice hobby. I have a few too. Mainly pistols. Those are more of an investment in… well my safety 🤣.

@@awteen ooof.. you bought a hollow chain my friend. What’s the gram weight? Hollow chains are almost worse than vermeil. When they crack (which they usually do) they’re a pain to fix, if it’s even possible. Not to mention, you usually way over pay for the gram weight of the hollow chain.
But if it’s solid, hook us up and tell where you found that!

    • @awteen

@ i’ve had my hollow chain for four years work out in it work in it no problem with it at all. It’s an easy fix. All you do is take it to the jewelry store. If it breaks not that big of a deal it’s still gold. who broke your that wore a hollow chain lol.
