Many years ago I was working in a woodworking shop operating a very large belt sander. When running the machine, the operator would build up a large static charge quite quickly. One day I decided to be very careful to avoid grounding out on anything to see how much charge I could hold. The floor was wood and I even stayed away from the screws in the floor. I made it all the way from lunch break to afternoon coffee-break without grounding out and I decided to get rid of the charge on a friend. I came up behind him and held my hand toward the back of his neck. A bright blue bolt of lightning came out of my finger tips when I was still about a foot away from him. That was the funniest thing that I had ever seen! Unfortunately, my friend didn't see the humor in it. After a little cooling down period, we were still friends.
What I find absolutely amazing in this day and age is that when you REALLY dig into many many things, particularly with respect to medical issues but also in science in general, the answer is ....... well, we really don't know - but our best guess is ....!
@ScottiesTech lol I always wanted one of those too! In 1980 they had a small helicopter in the Beverly Hills Toy Store in Beverly Hills, CA. They said I could fly over roads I normally drove on, closest thing I've found yet.
For anyone else that also went Googling for grubble, the word seems to be Graupel. "Graupel, also called soft hail, hominy snow, or snow pellets, is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets in air are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2-5 mm balls of crisp, opaque rime. Graupel is distinct from hail and ice pellets in both formation and appearance."
Wow, I didn't know airplanes were basically faraday cages. How insane to think how BAD it is that we are sitting INSIDE of it... with hundreds of Bluetooths + 2.45 GHz + 5 GHz transmitters ON.
I was in the aviation and I tell you this video would be a great value to all pilots... Pilot’s textbooks do not go that deep into static dischargers! I love it PS: It seems you are not selling the tanktop for men in your store... too bad I was planning to buy one.

Scottie, you did a review of the Q link 3 years ago. Would you please do a quick update on whether the benefits you felt continued, and if you still wear the Q? Thanks.
Static will discharge from a point easier than any other shaped surface a large flat surface or a round spherical surface will hold onto the charge, key principle of a diode
Maybe I should find an old airplane to live in rather than try to build a Faraday cage. Seldom on my phone which is good. Havent flown in a long time. Thx Scottie!
11:29 - Kinda confused here. I thought the ground(earth) was negatively charged. One more question: Is statically charged static electricity(either way the same thing as negative ions such as in some air purifiers vs positive ions? Thanks
@@ScottiesTech Is statically charged static electricity(either way the same thing as negative ions such as in some air purifiers vs positive ions? Thanks
@@ethimself5064 No. A static charge can be either positive or negative, and is also stationary (static), but an air purifier (air ionizer) emits a flow of negative charge.

Good morning Cletus and Scottie! Grabbing my coffee and ready for the new video!🖖🏻

Fascinating
You explained that really well, thank you 😊

Exactly. And I LOVE that because that's how we discover new things and then I finally get my Jetsons flying car!

Charge is relative, so it appears confusing, but it actually isn't.

Reminds me of the Twilight Zone the movie, the cloud creature destroying the airplane engine whahaha...
I thought I was the only one who'd remember that!!!! I wanted to put that creature in the thumbnail... :)
Creature was a gremlin appropriately, a remake of an episode of the original TV series, starring William Shatner.
