this was so painful OH MY GOD i am currently playing through the original FF7 on my stream (almost done with disc 2) if you want to follow my journey there: twitch.tv/alanamisako for my full ff7 remake streams: www.twitch.tv/collections/pbBzKiuAARfUaA
@@bukojoetheslapsoils8273 i LOVE the original so much. i was afraid i wouldn't like it because of the graphics and gameplay, but i find it so charming and emotional
@@AlanaMisakoGames I remember playing that as a kid. My brother and I were already amazed with its graphics. I don't know why some say that FF7 graphics didn't age well, but there's something very special about the designs especially the towns for me. The minigames are so great too and that's what I find lacking in most games today. Older games are just so playful. XD
This game is so well written out the more questions you answer the more questions you have its a 3 part game and let's just say sephiroth is trying to REMAKE the events of the original FF7
The VA for Barrett really nailed it. You can hear the anger and loss in his performance. And the joy of finding out about Marlene felt genuine. So underrated
Apparently, the VA loved playing FF7 when it came out & Barrett is his favorite character. When he was chosen to voice the gruff, tough, lovable, gun-armed giant with a heart of gold, he was absolutely over the moon & wanted to do his favorite character justice. You can tell he put his heart & soul into it.
@@sakurakittynoir1400 I am very much looking forward to Barret and Dyne, I've been looking forward to that story arc since the remake was even announced.
Yeah, these are definitely the heaviest chapters in the game: Hey, did you have fun getting your massage, fighting houses, dancing and crossdressing in Wall Market? Good! Here, have a low-key horror segment featuring the restless souls of murdered children and the mechanical horse demon that keeps their souls trapped in this world! Also featuring Aerith's life-long trauma revolving around her fear of abandonment! But wait, there's more! Mass-murder! Destruction! Seeing people you've grown attached to die pointless deaths -- one of them while blaming herself for deaths she unknowingly had no responsibility in regards to! Fun stuff! Now, let's talk about Aerith's depressing secrets and background! Hey, it seems Barret is in denial about everyone else being dead... Let's confront him about that! :D Anyway, can we take a moment to appreciate how incredibly well Square does cats? Like, Stray is a game in which your playable character is a cat, and despite that fact I still have to say that that cat is still not as well-made as Wedge's kitty.
Jessie's death really hurts... in the original she dies and there isn't much attachment but in remake they really made her lovable. I miss you Jessie Rasberry 😭 and what makes it even worse is that she died not knowing that the bombs weren't her fault
well..that's the thing...in a way...jessie was responsible. One of the best things from ff7 is that the resistance group ARE terrorists. They kill sindra soldiers who are doing their jobs, and blow up infrastructure. Arson will lead to escalation and potentially put civilians in danger. ff7 asks us: "oh you wanna be the rebel well here ya go, you get struck with great characters who are fighting for good, but they are creating more problems potentially. This is what real rebel groups are like." Most fictional works like star wars last jedi tend to gloss over that most rebellions from small groups aren't pure hearted heroes and there ARE consequences to their actions. Barratt is a terrorist who doesn't see at this point of the story that what he is doing may not be effective. He sees the world in black or white terms and any benefit from sinra is to be ignored. I wont give spoilers for alana gaming but needless to say barratt will be examined in the upcoming sequel. Jessie was one of the ppl who served barratt who carried out such missions. Now as for the bomb itself, yes jessie prob didn't intend to cause this big explosion that killed civilians. BUT Sinra WOULD NOT have thought of that tactic if avalanche didn't come by with their bomb. Even if they did think of that tactic, avlanche's presence gave them the believable story to do such an evil act. I am not saying Jessie, Barrett, and the others are immoral . They are heroes who are fighting the good fight against Shinra, an evil force that must be stopped, but they must deal with the guilt of causing suffering. ff7 really asks us to consider their methods. Its why jessie at her death says "i deserved it." Its why biggs, wedge try talking to cloud after the 1st mission about what they had done. Its why barrett acts all macho, and tries to get everyone to follow his lead-he must ignore his conflicting feelings and get his group complicit.
I love this game I love to see more FF games I love your stream you are a amazing person I meant it I love your channel I love to see where you go into the future
In case anybody hasn't played the OG and sees this comment about the plate crash cameo SPOILER Seeing your reaction to Cait Sith and from what I've seen from your OG playthrough I gather you are not fond of him, right? It imakes me sad when I see new players getting into ff7 and not warming up to him at least by the end of OG, since he is my favourite character:( he has my favourite character plotline and I think a lot of people misunderstand it or stop paying attention to him after he steals the keystone. People who hate him are the reason I tend to not enjoy engaging too much with ff7 playthroughs

This chapter really personifies why Aerith is my favorite character. This chapter and 8 and 9.
