Professor Ala led Session 1: Current Approaches to the Management of Wilson Disease
Professor Ala leads the Adult Genetic Liver Disease Programs at the University of Surrey Guildford, Wilson Disease Center of Excellence and he is Professor of Hepatology and Consultant Hepatologist at the Institute of Liver Studies at King's College Hospital, London. He is Chair of British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) Rare Liver Disease Special Interest Group and leads the Wilson disease SIG. He was awarded the Sheila Sherlock Royal College of Physicians Fellowship at the Center of Excellence for Wilson Disease, Yale University to work with Dr. Michael Schilsky and build global clinical and translational research collaborative links including UK, Europe, Asia subcontinent and the USA. He is co-investigator in the WDA Patient Registry study. Prof. Ala is the newest member of the WDA Medical Advisory Committee (MAC).
