  • Hey Trappers!!! In this video we look at the different brands of number 11s. I go through what I feel are the strengths and weaknesses of each brand. This way hopefully it'll help you make a better choice for yourself on your lines.

    Yessir
    I quit fiddling with the dukes
    I have and bought the dollar
    some odd baseplates and
    welded them on and put a
    bead on the crossframe.
    Those jaw tips that won't bend
    get a bubble tip as well.
    Then you never have to worry
    about them again.
    In all fairness, I had to repair
    some Victors in the same
    fashion. And always at least
    one good mb swivel
    Thanks for another video.
    Looking forward to many more

    Great information Dale. I want to keep my eye out when I got ot PA this fall to see if I can pick some up. I'd like to get a non-resident trapping license and maybe make a few sets during deer season. Footholds were banned here in NJ 39 years ago. 😡

    Dale what is a good bait for catching coyotes in the summer?

    • @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531

      As far as a bait goes Paul a lot of guys really like my predator buster in the summer and fall. It's a liquid bait so in your country you won't have so much problems with fire ants. For lures they like my Aces and 8s or wolfers Choice or Long Liners Pal.

    Great No. 11 tutorial Dale.
    I’ll add that the old Blake & Lamb 11’s (B&L called them No. 1 Double Spring) are a great trap too. The originals were similar design to the old Victor with the pinch pan. They changed the design in later years to a bolt on pan. They were also available in Double Jaw.

    Always good info. I bought a bunch of old victors and others off a friend that no longer traps due to age, he is in his 80’s, I’ll have to go thru them and start prepping some for my line. Thanks for sharing.

    Where is a good place to buy some #3s and #4s double long springs? New or used.

    • @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531

      Alex check with Cumberland's Northwest trap supply company in Owattana Minnesota. They carry a full line of new traps and supplies and a lot of used traps too. Or you can always check at the state and national trappers convention too

      Yes Greg you're right I did. I meant to mention those. They have the same weakness as the old Victor, the pan. Thank you for watching

    Great topic Dale, I love the #11 bridgers & Sleepy Creek my self. The only thing thats stopping me from using them anymore is my hands are too weak to set anymore.

    • @billadler9660

      The older i get, the more i like snares. But, my second choice would be #11s. They have been around for atleast 70 yesrs and my only regret is that i would have realized their value much earlier in my trapping ‘career’’.

    • @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531

      @billadler9660 snares a fantastic tool for sure Bill. It's too bad they don't fit in every situation. And yes a lot of trappers are like you. They don't understand the mechanics or the value in good double long spring traps
