As a veteran im happy you did but sadly these so called charities to support veterans are a bunch of greedy scamming tossers. They have hundreds of millions of pounds yet do nothing for the 6000 homeless veterans but pay out massive wages to the top ones its disgusting
@@ianreid I am not surprised to hear you say that as there are a multitude of big charities just the same. I did wonder whether, if I scratched beneath the surface, that is what I would find.
A big shame too that everyone involved in organising the day (my Dad coordinates the bands at Cannon Street and it's his highlight of the year to do so) has their heart in the right place, as are those who donate generously to the cause. I have a feeling that those involved for years in organising such an event, like my Dad and the others who served alongside him, may not welcome this being exposed as by association they are being made complicit in this scam.
The way I see it, given that the RBL has the capacity to create such a large event and engage so much support and camaraderie, the potential is there for something more honest to exist...but this might take a little time.
Perhaps those not receiving the funds can find a way of being the squeaky wheel that gets the grease... (there has to be a way). In your position as a veteran, you will have a much greater understanding of the military state of mind both inside and serving, and then when you're tossed aside.

The reason the French are letting migrants cross is that by doing so they are exiting the EU. The EU only have rules about welcoming migrants in (talk to poor Lampedusa and Greece), but none about stopping migrants going out.
So Brexit made things worse by the sheer reality of leaving the EU.
It is almost ironic that many people voted for Brexit to reduce immigration (presumably from Europe) but it has turned out the other way round... one might even claim the quality of the immigration has deteriorated immensely: no more university researchers, Portuguese nurses etc, but now we get Albanians... enough said.
I seem to remember though, that illegals were crossing from Europe in the back of lorries when we were part of the EU. Btw, those professional types you comment on were here legally and can, during the normal process, apply to come to the UK should they want to.
