wow really appreciate that coming from someone in the film department. I have not had any training, and did everything start to finish in a couple of days. If I had other kids at school who actually knew more it could be even better. I do have another version slightly better than this, but not really different enough to post them both. After geometry, I plan on getting back on it.
yeah, i hope to be able to continue making them too. The toughest part is finding good places to interview where there are not 300 people opening and closing doors, or walking in front of the camera! Also I'm trying to stick to a similar formula of having current students, staff, and graduate in each episode, so we'll see how things pan out.
@monkeybrosky hey thx for your question, you don't need to be able to read music. This is not a traditional music degree, this is more of a studio tech job, I think they have a music theory class that teaches you how to read music, but its more focused upon teaching you to record sound/music first. Any experience you have prior to coming will only help you!
you're quite welcome. I totally understand wondering what the heck the school is like. The behind the scenes tours are useful, and helpful, but they are also sometimes misleading. Good luck to you!
@PeterSiouxsie69 the cost is broken up into 3 payments over the 2 yr program, every 7 months you have to do new loans. Although there are a lot of situations different for everyone on how much that amount may be, but in general its in the 20-25k range per loan amount.
wow 5,000 views! thank you everyone! I've learned so much since I made this first video, but the Full Sail curriculum keeps me too busy to follow up on it. I still plan on doing more though!
you're use of "for producing music and things of that nature," is a little vague, however yeah they pretty much cover the whole gambit. If you're asking more along the lines of managing bands, they offer a degree more for that as well. There's a music business degree, entertainment business degree, show production, recording arts, and they just started an audio engineering degree I believe online that focuses more on music theory & music creation in that sense. Check out the Full Sail Website!
@OfficialVictorTV depends on you my friend. They have 3-4 degrees all related to doing that sort of thing, recording arts is more of behind the scenes studio work, music business is more managing yourself or a band, they recently started an audio engineering degree which I believe is a lil more traditional in theory behind what makes good music, but I don't know for certain. Best to call the school and speak to one of the reps! They are nice :)
there is now 2 recording arts programs being offered, an associates program in recording engineering which is currently $35,700, and the BA degree in Recording Arts which is currently $72,775. Keep in mind Full Sail does not work on the semester system, so that is your total cost including books. (not housing or cost of living though)
@Deanluis Well Deanluis if you would have read the disclaimer you would have noticed this project was done during my 2nd class at full sail, and was using the most basic equipment without any special bells and whistles. It was just something I shot and put together in 2 days. The point of going to school is to learn sir. It was everyones 1st time doing anything. We are digital artists mostly, not film students.
@EMMAN6120 well the schedules change every month depending on how big your class is and when you have labs. Everything is on 4 hr blocks. But you will have class 8 hrs 5 days a week. The school is open 24/7 so you never know what your hrs will be until the start of each course. You have no control on when it is, unless it choosing your lab hours, and even then its up to your instructor how he splits up the class. This place is awesome, but you really got to take it serious.
@OfficialVictorTV indeed this school is basically like a full time job, school 5 days a week 8 hrs a day, including weekends sometimes. The hours change every month depending on your classes. Truthfully- (unofficially, they are changing the program to be 36 month degree instead of 21 starting after the new yr.) its still the same stuff being taught for the most part, but only 1 class a month instead of 2, but still 8 hrs a day, so you could possibly get work then.) otherwise yeah 2 busy to work!
@sweetkishy to be safe, it's best to contact a Full Sail Adviser, you can reach someone here fullsail.edu/about/contact When I attended, there was not much of an entrance requirement for most programs. Some more than others. The main thing is to just be passionate, and want to learn because its pretty hardcore. You also have to be proactive, because nothing is handed to you, but it was a great experience. Best of luck!
@MrOmeMan well i don't know what the review said, but you can't please everyone here. The one thing I wish they had was some kind of filter for who they accept, because you'll get lazy people come and complain about the school, or someone get pissy because they want to be Pdiddy, and that does not happen right away, it takes time and hard work. This is a school for really passionate people who want to work hard. Its not sugar coated!
@RainKingRecording I used to live in Nashville and did some work out there too, and I feel like this school is better than the 2 schools I checked out there before I moved here. Its all what you make of your time. Thank you for your opinion!
@DjAlienMafia This university is really good about teaching you how to record and mix music. They don't teach you to make a specific type of music, but you do have classes that teach you to use the software and hardware needed to record your own music, or for other bands. Its very fast, you have to work really hard here. Any experience you have before you come will greatly help you! i hope that answered your question!
hey thanks, I've been attending like 12 yrs! HAHA totally kidding, I'm actually really new. I'm in my 3rd month. I like it a lot so far. You are possibly in the ginormous class we've been hearing about coming through soon.
Hey I would like to know whats the class everyday schedule like for Recording Arts, I heard its random, like 1am-5sm then 11am-3pm. Is that really true.
@judit4424 Actually, as of Jan of '11, the school has changed the way they run. If you start now you can choose to go through the old way (21month) or they started offering a 36 month program where you only take 1 class at a time, so it would only be 2-3 days a week 8 hrs a day. That would free you up to be able to have more of a life, and work on the side if you needed. Good luck to you where ever you go!
@PeterSiouxsie69 I would also like to add the school is good about offering different scholarships. I'm applying next month for my final scholarship amount, but so far I've been blessed with a couple good ones!
I plan on attending full sail in 2012. I will be moving to florida in 2 weeks. How do I know if this school is for me? I think 8 hours a day is too much..... well, I really want to go to this school. I think I can Handle it? Does anybody Know any other Audio Enginnering schools?
Thats cool.I start Sept. 28 and I have a friend who just started on August 30th and his class had like 75 students! I really dont wanna huge class but I guess I have no choice. Do you have twitter or anything so that I can keep in touch with you? Thats if you dont mind.
@Robynasdf123 do you know that this is a Recording Arts Program right? as in, you could go into the Music business as Music Producer... not a Recording Engineer, thats a different program...
ey wassup? from what i hear is that full sail takes up the majority of your day and no time to work..is this true? because im only 17, last year in HS and is highly considering going to full sail for recording arts, financial aid is tough i know that but trying to have a stable life with a job and attending full sail is hard. and on top of that takes away pieces from your social life. so basically all that i said is it true and whats the requiirements to go here and what are the cons?
@DerrickRodriguez Well I can't tell you for sure yes or no, i'm not in the program, I just made the film. However, I can tell you if you are super passionate person, and dedicated, this school pushes you beyond what you think you can achieve. I've only met 2 people ever who graduated from here, who did not find success in what they were pursuing. Not everyone is famous, but many are doing what they love. There are other choices out there, but this is a good one I feel. IF ur serious!
@EASTSIDEDELI wanted to amend my comment because I did not take into account for things like grants or scholarships, and was only speaking directly on the total cost of tuition. It' quite possible to have this amount cut way down, which is what I was referring to about scholarships above.
@faderfab Full Sail is legit and has a growing reputation. I've gotten job interviews and freelance, just because I went to Full Sail, and I graduated less than 3 months ago.
I really wanted to go to this school until I read a terrible review from one of the instructors there... now all I want to do is stay as far away from fool sail.
yeah I would encourage ANYONE who is wanting to attend to have a good 6 months of savings put away t a minimum, because you won't have time to work and go to school here.
No other school will accept transfer credits from this school. If you really want to be serious about Recording arts, go to the Surrey Tonmeister program in England, its government run and not privately own so you know its legit.
This school is a joke. I'm making a living doing this for real in nashville and when you compare full sail to other schools it really sucks. Way way way over priced too.
wow really appreciate that coming from someone in the film department. I have not had any training, and did everything start to finish in a couple of days. they seem to always be changing and adding new stuff here, other than the crappy class hours, its been amazing for me so far!
yeah, i hope to be able to continue making them too. The toughest part is finding good places to interview where there are not 300 people opening and closing doors, or walking in front of the camera! Also I'm trying to stick to a similar formula of having current students, staff, and graduate in each episode, so we'll see how things pan out.
I hope you can keep making these. Cant wait for a Digital Arts & Design iSail Podcast.

@EASTSIDEDELI the recording arts one right? jus to double check, thanks
@POINTBLANK0106 to my knowledge their are no "additions" per say to go into that program, just a strong work ethic, and love for the craft!
Hey thanks for the comment and for reffering me to your video :) it helped a ton :) thank u
hey thanks, I've been attending like 12 yrs! HAHA totally kidding, I'm actually really new. I'm in my 3rd month. I like it a lot so far. You are possibly in the ginormous class we've been hearing about coming through soon.

@DerrickRodriguez not really this schools music program is based more towards music production.
@PeterSiouxsie69 I would also like to add the school is good about offering different scholarships. I'm applying next month for my final scholarship amount, but so far I've been blessed with a couple good ones!
at this school is there recording like for producing music and things of that nature if anyone can help??
@OfficialVictorTV yes for sure!
@judit4424 Thanks for taking your time to write back. I think I will go to Full Sail University after all :)
What kind of work would you submit to get into a program like this
I plan on attending full sail in 2012. I will be moving to florida in 2 weeks. How do I know if this school is for me? I think 8 hours a day is too much..... well, I really want to go to this school. I think I can Handle it? Does anybody Know any other Audio Enginnering schools?

I am a Hip-Hop and R&B artist. Would this be the field I'd pursue?
expensive how? cuz i want to go for music. how much is it?
will this help me one day open my own record label?
but also be a big time producer? lol but will it contribute?
im really considering majoring in recording arts at
full sail university
I LOVE FULL SAIL but the school is expensive i have to wait a few months to go back because i need to save money
@EASTSIDEDELI wanted to amend my comment because I did not take into account for things like grants or scholarships, and was only speaking directly on the total cost of tuition. It' quite possible to have this amount cut way down, which is what I was referring to about scholarships above.
@totalyawsomedude yes it sure will!
@totalyawsomedude For sure man, thats exactly what this program does.
this is my first choice!
@faderfab Full Sail is legit and has a growing reputation. I've gotten job interviews and freelance, just because I went to Full Sail, and I graduated less than 3 months ago.
@OfficialVictorTV kool man thanks alot! (:
