Hi mate, thanks for making the video. I was one of the guys that asked. It has answered some of my questions, I knew you had the older 1290 SDGT. I wouldn't buy the 2018/9 as it is something only a mother could love. It was comfort and power I was interested in and you've answered that. I've had a 2017 1290 SDR and I loved it but it just wasn't plush enough on the suspension where as the 1290 SAS is, but the brakes, the power, the build quality was better than the 1290 SAS which is what I have now. I had a 1190 adventure before hand and loved it, but I thought I wanted something more sporty. After spending over £10k, I have realised I maybe don't. Thank you once again 👍
I swoped from a 1290 s to a 1290GT but I am struggling with handling of GT a on bumpy tight UK roads that I didn’t on S. So any thoughts re this ? Great video thanks
I 100 percent understand where you are coming from, when I owned both the GT was not on the same level as the adventure. For its size the adventure was such an amazing bike and was so plush to ride. For me the adventure was on another level
@@deadbugdavey1744 thanks I’m thinking of getting new S as the only reason I sold my old one slights tall and top heavy I had done nearly 40000 miles on it but more money 🤔🤔 Thanks and. Enjoyed your report Safe riding
I never did tune it, I'd certainly recommend it being tuned but the bodis APPARENTLY does not require a tune afterwards. Soon after this I was in an accident and I sold the gt soon afterwards. I would always say tune any bike if you put a full system/decat on, the low rpm fuelling usually suffers
morning dead bug, just a short question.this summer I'll be putting down a wedge on a new bike.the two I have in mind are the 1290 super adventure s or the 1290 gt.its one or the other.i know you've not yet ridden the new gt,but in your opinion if you could only have one bike which one of these would you pick.my riding is every day to work and back, weekend fun rides and taking it on me holibobs once or twice a year.but no plans to take it around the world if you know what I mean, any chance you will be taking the new gt for a test ride . I've taken the new gt for a test ride but not yet had the time as yet to take the adventure out
I sure will be taking the new gt out for a ride mate. It will be interesting to see what the difference is. For me, and I do similar types of riding that you speak of, if I had to choose I'd probably sway towards the adventure. The riding position and comfort is alot better on the adventure for me
Hi all, I don't comment on videos, but I wanted too say I have a 2017 SDGT 1290. I have it for about 4 months now with a tad over 6,000 miles now. I live in south Florida so I ride year round. I love the thing, as you maybe able to tell by the mileage have accumulated so far. I was not looking for a new bike, but I was looking at bikes to wast time and see what was new, Gold wings and the 1600 GT BMW's, then I went to my nearest KTM Dealer (50 Miles). Just to look at the bikes, I spoke with Mike the sales Manger, I was not liken what they had. Adventure S and R, way too tall for me. I was walking out, but Mike was really trying to make a sale, so I said, okay, whats your most expensive bike? He took me around a corner and BAM there she was, I was in love from the moment I saw her, I got a fantastic deal and took her home that day. I have taking her out, almost, every Sunday. Most of those rides lasting 8 or 10 hours. It is not a bike for everyone, she has issues what Bike doesn't ? She is not cheep to maintain, that's for sure. Two recalls Master cylinder, Fuel pump and Throttle body inline hose, a broken mirror that was replaced under warranty. I am on my 2nd rear Tire I went with the Bridge stone Road 5. Because the roads here are hot, long and flat. The Angle GT's that she came with are fantastic, but I want a few thousand more miles. I hope the Bridge stones will give me that. This August I will take her to Montana Via The dragons tail and Sturgis. About 5,000 Mile round trip. Now you know why I don't reply to you tube Videos. LOL. Cheers Ya'll.
Thanks for the view and comment mate. It's always nice to hear from someone who loves riding! I feel rather jealous that your able to ride so much though! Ride safe
I'm coming from a gsxr1000. I rode both ktm's as well as all the other adventure bikes. The gt won hands down. I'm literally putting the gsxr on eBay today so I have the deposit for the GT
@@t2rew not ridden it yet, won't be too different from mine but the dash is lovely, light is really good and they finally put the cruise control on the correct side! 🤣
Thanks for the follow-up video! I really appreciate you taking the time to do the video. I will hopefully be able to have a go on both of them next month at the MotoGP in Austin. Oh, quick question how are the panniers on the GT? Can you fit a full face helmet? Thanks again!
The panniers do fit a large full face helmet yes, but it seems to depend on she'll shape and the vents. It is a bit of a squeeze that's for sure! The helmet has to be put in upside-down fit it to fit, but if you are a medium or lower it should be fine
@@geneshaw1234 they are very different as you say. Just because the engine is the same does not mean that much, as you now know they feel very different. The gt is definitely the more sporty bike without a doubt. Both are amazing bikes in their own rights. Are you going to make a purchase?
Thanks bud, yes I noticed the settings were off for a couple of my videos at this time. I've since changed camera so I have a better fov too. Cheers for the view and comment
I know, unfortunately it was over exposed for my last 4 videos that I recorded on the same day. I didn't notice but all should be good now. Thanks for the feedback and view

More than welcome mate, and thank you for asking for the video! I got my settings sorted now so hopefully no more bright videos!
Correction: Suspension recalibration is HUGE on 2019. Deal maker--or breaker. Though I understand the pre 2019 can be reprogrammed.
Tom Traynor I asked my dealer about updating mine, he didn’t know anything about it ? Not sure if this is true.
Anthony Murgatroyd Hoo boy. Dealer NEEDS to know about it.

Good explanation between the two and very well compared thanks a lot 👍

Looking forward to trying them both. No local dealerships have both bikes in stock so I'm still checking around.
Love both bikes but unfortunately the gt is having a few issues at the moment. Will have to do a follow up video now
