The outdoor shots really bring out the slight bling on the bezel, which surprised me. I recently picked up their Engineer in black mop, and that blew me away. I’ve just picked up the v3 of this in full black with Sellita SW200 now in the 11/11 sale. Great review thanks.
@@garmin1488 Serica had problems with previous Soprod movements, but they got out of it by the bottom. They have improved Soprod movements COSC certified.
Am I the only one childish enough to mention the hot dog and dingleberries at 12 o'clock? I know it's on the Serica as well, but that's all I see when I look at that dial! 🤷🏻♂️😂 Maybe you should come out with your own watch company called "Better Late Than Never". All the watches will run an hour behind! lol The IXDAO is a decent looking watch overall. Great review as always brother!
Just picked up a black dial Selitta off ebay for a bit of a bargain. Very impressed with it so far, finishing, weight and aesthetics are spot on. Band is a bit difficult to put on initiallly but one of those things you'll figure out the technique for over time
In case there are any Proxima fans out there that are into this design they have come out with their version of this watch and I think it's worth a look the dial isn't printed and the bracelet option is a regular three link oyster style and it's selling for 233$ Anyways just thought I would mention that Thanks for sharing another great review my friend and Be well 👍
What’s good about you TH-camrs is that you are not afraid to make a fool of yourself. You are ready to tell anything and everything to make clicks. Of course this thing looks like the Serica, but from far, very far away and I who has a ‘'real’ Serica, I would never buy that I can tell you, even if it is between 6 & 4 times cheaper depending on the movement chosen. But it’s good for Serica because it proves that they passed a pass, it’s the good ones we copy, not the bad ones.
What's good about you watch snobs is that you'll pay through the nose for stuff, just to have a brand name on the dial. If you'd actually had hands-on experience with this one, then you'd understand that it's a really impressive piece... And according to some people, actually better than the original, due to the issues that had with the movement, when it first came out.

You can say all you want on this subject but the problem number one is this: all these Chinese companies that make pure copy by making employees work at shameful rates do not do much credit to a so-called communist country. In reality, it is quickly realized that all these countries which announce themselves so close to the small people are actually the worst in their way of treating workers. The day that this company you love so much will make original watches by paying normally workers by getting their fingers out of the ass, then I would say bravo and I would buy because I’m not racist. But for the moment, I am not impressed at all, it is all too easy for them.

So, they must make excellent quality pieces, otherwise they wouldn't use them, would they? The only difference is that they charge a huge markup to the customers. Whereas buying directly from the factories you don't have to pay that markup to fill the shareholders pockets.

I was thinking about picking one up but then I realised something I had missed for a long time - why are there minute hashes from 40 to 60, instead of 60 to 15 or 60 to 20? That kinda does my head in! I know the Serica has that, but that doesn't make it any more normal. Strange indeed.

Just been looking and found the original brand only goes back to 2019 so I'm wondering if they did a copy and paste of an actual vintage diver made by another brand. . Anybody know?? Double twelve bezels were quite common in the 70's. This watch looks very good but I reckon it will drop a little in price. I'll keep my eye on it.
Watches always tend to look more reflective in these reviews than they do in more natural lighting conditions. That's why I always include outdoor shots too.

Having seen a comparison, I must say the IXDAO is a better looking watch than the original and has less troublesome movement choices. How secure is that clasp, it looks like it could unclip if knocked?

It's not quite as nice as the Serica (size is wrong, stupid red text, needless date window) but for the price you can't complain. I'm in a quandary, I wanted to buy the Serica but the crap movement issues put me off, but I'm usually against chinese knock offs too. I'm tempted by this but I might just have to avoid both. Hmmm. That's a really great looking piece, and finally the quality seems to be sorted with version 3. I wonder by how much this has affected sales numbers of the original brand. Probably now it turned out to be a strategic mistake to design a watch with no branding on the dial. This makes it particularly easy for the homage brands.

But the fact that this is the third interation of this one, and it fixes the issues people had with the previous ones, in terms of design elements. But, as far as I know, Serica haven't sorted out the movement issues still. Whilst charging a lot more, just rubbed people up the wrong way.
Serica did switch the movement on the updated COSC version of the 5303, going from a Soprod Newton to Soprod A10. It supposedly fixes the lack of consistent hacking and wobbly crown of the original. That said, reading the posts of Serica initially paying for repairs for the wobbly Newton then switching to claiming it was intended behavior was quite questionable. Doesn’t help strengthen the case for buying the Serica.

I don't personally, no. I have quite a few watches with the PT5000 movement now. Some of which I've had for a few years. I've never had any problems with any of them. Yeah you're right they are both clones of the ETA 2824.

My mind is blown that this is version 3 of a watch that feels like it just turned up yesterday. Compare that to the Swiss where you wait an entire year for the next Baselworld or Watches & Wonders, and all you get is a slightly different shade of a ceramic bezel, or a stupid meme novelty like Kermit the frog in the date window. I was really thinking about this deeply the other day and what is great about the Chinese is that they can all homage the same designs which means there's a lot of competition between Chinese factories, and competition in a free market means rapid improvement and competitive pricing. This is what we are seeing here. The problem with the Swiss now is that they all own their own designs meaning there's no competition between the Swiss factories/maisons for a particular look, so they've all gotten lazy! Not just lazy, but greedy too! The Swiss have lost me. In the last 6 months I've become a big Chinese watch fan (a bit late to the party but yeah I'm here now). I can't wait for more people to get on board with Chinese watches, and take the Swiss down a peg or three, because they seriously need it.

Swatch dispensed with the services of Selitta which would have pretty much put them out of business. However they then discovered the design patients (not copywrite) had run out so they were legally allowed to produce versions of many of ETAs movements.

I hate the font they are using on these new versions for the date. The detail that make me just want to spend more for the real one

The watch is delivered with the test certificate, so each watch is individually tested.

Yeah I think they've nailed it with this version. In hindsight doing a sterile dial wasn't really a good decision from Serica.

Did you bezel loosen up at all?

My V2 arrived with a dead movement and the store ignored me as soon as I questioned them about it.

I completely agree with you there.
The Swiss don't copy each other designs because they actually respect Copyright law, unlike in China where originality is an unknown concept.
