For a batman fan it's a brilliant film. Don't expect Marvel level comedy as this movie is expected to be dark and what the Batman fans love to see. Apart from this, the films cast as well as director and cinematographer has done a great job at execution of this film. Just go for it 👍
The Batman movie is not meant to be funny. It's a serious movie. Marvel movies have brainwashed us so much that we think every superhero movie should be funny. This movie is a masterpiece of its own.

Martin Scorcesse talked about Marvel movies in particular. He dint talk about superhero movies in general. So the Batman cannot be used as ammunition against Scorcesse
In his New York Times opinion piece, he was clearly targeting franchise films. This is too, considering it's two sequels and two HBO shows are already greenlit, I'd say this one fits the bill. His quote: "That’s the nature of modern film franchises: market-researched, audience-tested, vetted, modified, revetted and remodified until they’re ready for consumption.". Tell me most of it is not true for The Batman. His main concern is that "Franchise films are now your primary choice if you want to see something on the big screen. It’s a perilous time in film exhibition, and there are fewer independent theaters than ever." This film is part of this equation.
Exceptions cannot be held up as arguments against the general trend, right?
You can't say that "Sultan" was good so every masala movie of Salman Khan is good
Movies like Joker, Zack Snyder's justice league, The Batman and The suicide squad 2 are a genuine attempts to push the cinematic form or atleast maintain the cinematic standards but they are still exceptions.
These movies have a deep impact that you start to know the names of the technicians who work behind it.
There are far more people who can tell you the names of directors of movies like The Batman, Suicide Squad 2, Joker than people who can tell you the names of directors of The F&F franchise, the fifty shades franchise, the Dwayne Johnson Franchise, The Ryan Reynolds Franchise, The Kingsman Franchise or the Transformers Franchise. Because every follow up movie to the first movie in the respective franchise has the same, mundane, monotonous, boring, tired, lazy structure

I never said that DC movies were masterpieces. Kindly take some time and read the comments again. I am just stating that from a filmmaking perspective DC is leveling up and trying to do very different things. I know Shazam, wonder woman and Man of steel sucks big time but all these three movies have a very different cinematic style. Shazam is a movie that takes a comic route, wonder woman takes a very melodramatic route and Zack snyders movies in the DCEU is out and out serious drama.
But when you look at Marvel movies, they seem to be applying the same formula over and over again. (Especially with the jokes. Something serious happens and there is always this character that makes a joke in a serious situation, and with movies like Black widow, shang chi, loki, NWH, there are a lot of explanatory dialogues rather than scenes that effectively communicate with the audience (like the scene in Shang chi where he says that he escaped from his father, the scene in black widow where they keep explaining how the assasins are trained and what they do and the scenes in Loki where they explain how different timeliness work. We don't see what happens, we just see the characters talk about what happens
The effective movies show us and don't tell
😭DC finally has another masterpiece from probably their best lead character alongside Joker. Kudos to the makers.. Batman has lit up the screens through the gory depiction of a wounded character 😎. It's a treat for fans
Batman is THE best lead character period. Nothing compares to a well told Batman film. The tone and content of his lore fundamentally allow for the most compelling story possible from a comic book character.

Yeah, warner bros forced them to make marvel style movies with Aquaman and NOT zack snyder's justice league. It's a relief they are going back to the roots that is unique from marvel.

Robert Pattinson deserves Oscar for his performance as batman
Absolutely loved the film. 3hrs really felt like 2 here! The cinematography and music is some of the best in recent memory. I might be in the rare club of people here, but I really didn't enjoy the Salena Kyle character. No spoilers here, but to think about it if her character actually was taken out, don't think it would matter to the story at all. Those who have seen it, just think about it. Her subplot feels like a distraction every time she's onscreen. I almost wanted her to get on with it so the movie would actually move forward. Also, that (you'll know when you see it!) line she delivers definitely made me roll my eyes because it was absolutely forced!
Probably I'm the only one, but other than this, it is such a treat this film! Can't wait to watch it again!
I also had a gripe with the cat women character as she was too friendly with Batman unlike how Catwoman was always picturised as someone who is not reliable!! 👍

@@macdeep8523 Spiderman no way home was a total cringe fest! Last two spidermen returned, but the conversations between them were 🤢... Even the most emotional scene when may dies, there was nothing to feel! It was good for a nostalgia to see actors from previous Spiderman movies but other than that the whole movie was so disappointing that when i came home, i binge watched Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill vol: 1&2, and that's when i felt like what it feels after watching a great movie!

Above all top-notch work from director Matt Reeves and best acting by our The Batman, Robert Pattinson.

Batman doesn't have superpowers, he has gadgets. He's a vigilante/detective, not a superhero. Can't use this to argue against Scorsese (who, in any case I think, was talking about Marvel movies)
He's definitely a superhero. He doesn't need powers to be designated as one. Scorsese's argument was for franchise films, which this is too.
To chutiye Aquaman, Superman, Wonder Woman kya Chacha Chaudhary comics ke characters hai? Ye detective/vigilante hai? Why is only mcu movies being attacked? Mcu gets more criticism because it's more popular and successful. Mcu grabs more eyeballs and hence it gets more criticism compared to superhero movies of Dceu which are in fact worse than Mcu.

@Raman Sharma The Batman has 2 sequels and 2 spin-off TV shows coming. If that isn't franchise, I don't what is? Batman IP has been a franchise commodity since Adam West days. However the thosr films being good does make them an exception to Scorsese's argument, and bring out the core of the argument: that big cinema is pushing out independent cinema. No one's saying these films are inherently bad just because they're franchise films.

Marvel movies are childish and overrated
The Batman is not your typical superhero film, but its a clear drama thriller and it does hold you till the last minute. In short, its one of the best DC film. Robert is fine actor and he performed bruce wayne okay okay, but as a caped crusader he's something more than that. It can call as excellent. USP of this film is its Music; direction; story; acting, all in the descending order. Matt reaves provides us a bit too long film with a slow first half but in second half, oh boy, they nailed it. Bruce don't know the concept of batman in this and he's trying hard to understand it which is great but riddler was on different level. I should just two steps less than late heath ledger. Film should reach 750 Million and am sure it will. 8.5/10.

I just went on to read random people's reviews that show up when googline "The Batman" and most of the 1/5 stars ones literally can be summed into "Too long. Too dark. Little action. Boring. Fell asleep."
I swear, this is exactly what is wrong with free speech and internet nowadays. You get too many people that don't know jack shit about anything talking bullshit. And they act like they're not even tho when they just write a 5 word sentence and pass it as criticism.
I can take the criticism, I've read/watched actual reviews and some were elaborated and well explained(without getting into spoilers) but for fucks sake... Saying that a movie is "boring" is not a valid argument. Boredom/Entertainment are literally subjective emotions and cannot be used on a review, because a review is supposed to be(or try to be) objective, or at least put the bias aside.
"Boring" has been used as a description by many top critics. While I agree that the subjectivity of what consistutes a boring film exists, it's usage is still out there. Subjective emotions have always been part of any criticism cause films are supposed to elicit emotions.

It's a fresh take on Batman character. A good crime story and detective drama, but not near to TDK. It's still best super hero movie.

Film is unusually lengthy. But yes robert Pattinson shines in the role of batman. Hope to see more entertaining batman series.
First of a trilogy needs character development. It's a young batman still in 2nd Yr is learning. Showed perfect by the director.

WB pictures are so confusing. DCEU was expanding beautifully with its own type , and since it was not matching Marvel's success they hesitantly axed Snyder, let that awful-terrible WW84 happen and now they are back to what was initially supposed to be the tone of the universe cause even at their poorest critical reception with Bvs and their new found success with ZSJL and Peacemaker at HBO max, the dark/rated r , blood and gore brought in an audience that they thought would come, only if DC followed Marvel's footsteps. Meanwhile they discontinued the continuity of the original plans, made Super-man a literal supporting cast, left me with so many questions and cravings post ZSJL , AND to add to the insult ,the horrid Whedon cut is the cannon, after everything !!!

i agree The Batman is a great movie for many reasons. But stick to reviewing american movies lol you and your team are horrible at understanding / reviewing indian movies. unfortunately corruption in indian society goes even as far as you wannabe celebrity critics too
