Here is what Valeriy wrote about the creation of this song: “Around the late 90s (I guess it was summer of 1997) we went to Arshan with my family. Arshan is a small town of Republic of Buryatia, around 200 km far from my hometown Irkutsk. There was kinda a highway directed right to the mountain range which can be viewed in a distance (so delightful sight). And this highway had a little springboards one by one. That was fun to experience that jumps on the road while seated in my father's car driving pretty fast. And at that moment my father noticed a stork flying in parallel to us over the forest glade drawing my attention on this flying big bird as well. And that very fragment of my life caused the creating of "On The Stork's Wings."
As usual, the musicianship is just mind-blowingly next level. But then it's Valeriy, so are we surprised...? 😆 However, that bass line!!! For a keyboard bass, it's just so organic and natural sounding. That, more than anything, caught me by surprise. As always, Jeff, a great reaction video. Loved every second of it. 👍🏼
Finally the day has come!!! p.s one of my favorite songs ever! The mix of Marcus Thomas and drums and Valeriy on bass(keys) is sensational. And ofc Alex Hutchings. All in all, it’s an absolutely ridiculously awesome composition, played to perfection by universe-class musicians.
Great musicians, great arrangement, great song 🎶❤️. Thanks Jeff to present and to react to this piece of Valeriy 👍🏼. Once again, music from Valeriy together with other wonderful musicians from all over the world makes me believe in the good of mankind. I need moments like this 🫶🏻. Thanks again, best greetings to you from Germany 😎💚🌻
Great reaction Paisan. Valeriy tells the story that this song was born from the memory of a trip when he was young. His father was driving and a Stork was flying along side the car. Such great talents in a single track. Bravo All!!!
Ah! Finally, you reacted to this tune! I was shure you'd enjoy this one. For me, it's one of the best tracks from the «Album 2». Thank you so much for this reaction. Continue like this! Louis
Just keyword Stepanov/Miller. I remember when I thought Al diMeola was an inhuman guitar player . . . back in 1974. Then it became Frank Gambale and now there's Martin Miller. Valeriy is a world unto himself.
Бесподобно красиво! Технически безупречно! Потрясающе ритмично и в то же время мелодично! И импровизации вкуснейшие, - хочется их "скушать", и целиком!!!
Dear dear Jeff! You have this raw passion for something you love. Music, no matter what genre, it's magic like no other. You have brought me tons of joy and great moments and inspired me in my journey to discover new worlds of unfamiliar yet great music and talented musicians. You are YOU! And that is fantastic. 💋
Regarding VS' runs: Varleriy did all his early albums and singles live at the Kosnov Club in Moscow, often w/ Davidyants, Kornev and others you know. So, everything you hear in terms of technical skills he's done live in the past. Here's a 52:00 live set he did when Hutchings visited Moscow in 2015 at the club. Hard to fake the runs live and he's grown a lot since then. This is mostly Hutchings' compositions. If you have time look at some of the early stuff when Valeriy was recently out of Central Music School. He's also got a long list of material in Russian for the local market, a mix of his and other's materials and Russian covers. Some very interesting and several w/ his brother on bass or violin and a bunch with Guzov, his cellist friend who plays 2nd keyboard on some live sets at the Club for the world market.
I would personally love to see Jeff react to a whole concert. Or at least songs from concerts. One of my favorite Valeriy gigs is Live 2. But honestly I love all of them. Including the ones Hutchings did Btw link didn’t work
Hi Guys Thanks for todays video : ) I would like to say that You must react to go go penguin-glimmerings the one of new go go penguin songs. It is so wonderful in fact that every time I listen it I cry ❤
Finally! Long wait, but oh so smooth. All stars as always with Valeriy. Love the phrasing and tone on Alex solo! Oh, when are you going to do El Estepario Siberiano? Like this cover of Thriller th-cam.com/video/XsS9W26ALPU/w-d-xo.html
I had one Yt- reactor for Valeriy Stepanov song Believe in Yourself with saxophone player Eric Marienthal and drummer Steven Williams, and was successful, you should check out it out, please! Awesome! 🔥🔥❤️❤️ By the way.. Loved your DT special at the concert! Saw them live about a year and a half ago in northern Sweden. Ohhhh, drove Home in a maze...

Alex delivers one of the best guitar solos I´ve ever heard. And Valeriy and the others - don´t get me started. Wow wow wow

Marcus Thomas is one of the cleanest sounding drummers I have ever heard. And his foot pedal work is absolutely stellar.

I'm definitely checking these guys out. Awesome musicians. And I like a little cheese in my fusion :)
Welcome to a rabbit hole of pure amazingness. Valeriy Stepanov is the real deal. Hutchings and Thomas are great in their own right.

It is so hard to make comments that meet the level of this kind of musicianship.
Just keyword Stepanov/Miller. I remember when I thought Al diMeola was an inhuman guitar player . . . back in 1974. Then it became Frank Gambale and now there's Martin Miller. Valeriy is a world unto himself.
This is not a music. This is something ABOVE the music.
Impossible question... Valeriy Stepanov or Dirty Loops. 😎

Thanks, Jeff. Outstanding chops and a great tune. Love it!
I like the drummer's Snarky Puppy T-Shirt! And yes! I'd say he has all the "Pocket" he needs!

Believe the insurance on Valeriy's hands.... 😱

ah ah 😄 le pieds !
Marcus Thomas is second only to Gergo Borlai to me.
Small tom on the right. Bernard Purdie comes to mind.

As long as your digging on Valeriy Stepanov, you gotta check out his version of Herbie Hancock's Butterfly
Je ne peux m'empécher de penser à un bon Yellowjackets époque Robben Ford.
Serious question... Valeriy Stepanov or Dirty Loops.. Horrible question... 😎😥
What the co-lab that would be... Ohhhh... #boner 😊
These was a mandate drawn up forbidding this collaboration due to health risks to the audience (mostly in the form of seizures and strokes)!
@@StrateleStudios probably fatal.. Let's not... But still hope.. 😱
@@nightHawk66 we may have to wear special protective gear if it happens
Seriously, these two bands make me tearing... Love them so much, hope for great music is still on! 👍
