    CX maybe lagging behind the rankings but honestly, it’s one of the most stylish airlines out there. The lounges are gorgeous and components of the hard product (amenity kits, bedding, even the menus) are chicly designed. The seats might be an older design but they’re great still. Give them time to recover - I’m looking forward to how they will ramp up their offering in the near future.

    • @pflaffik
      @pflaffik ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True. Commenters who complain over dated seats arent flying business or 1st anyway, just the usual keyboard experts with strong polarised opinions that those who actually fly in those seats cannot relate too. Anyway, I prefer CX food selections over other Asian airlines, however i like some sweet liquors after dinner and Thai business class had by far the best but i like Cointreau too, which CX serves. Tip for CX 1st class savings: Check one way prices from CDG where you have a connecting flight from HKG, for example to BKK. On good days its half price compared to CDG-HKG only.

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha... to be fair... I do complain about their dated seat... especially on the TV. After refreshing the entertainment system, the TVs in Business / Premium Economy on the 777s are just too old to handle the new complicated system and they are super irresponsive... :(

    • @rm6700
      @rm6700 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarcoPoloClubFlyer that’s why I like your reviews. You are very objective - you call out things that don’t measure up but are constructive. The first class seats granted need to be refreshed with a new design but if CX updates all of its business class cabins with the Ferrari designed seats and all the bells and whistles that come along with that newer design, it’ll be brilliant. I don’t need a closing door - it’s okay I guess but one passenger said it tends to look like claustrophobic call center cubicles, and I can’t seem to get that out of my head.

    • @rm6700
      @rm6700 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pflaffik I agree with you - I think a lot of people are swayed by the overwhelming positive reviews given to SQ or the new business class cabins with closing doors. For me, it’s the entire experience, and CX lounges are just so chic - StudioIsle really did a great job and whoever oversaw the concept had great taste. The food selection as well - spoilt for choice. I actually recently flew SQ and was excited to try the new KF lounge - it was not good. There are other places that look chicer in Changi (like the seats near the giant LV store), and the food in the lounge is inedible. Really disappointed. Food on the aircraft was just okay leaving SG, which is strange - I would have thought it would be great. Haven’t tried Thai though.

    I just came across your channel and I subscribed. I really enjoyed your Video and it was nice to see, that you brought along some treats for the crew. I always do the same when I'm flying. As a formerly Purser I know how much it is appreciated by the Crew, since it shows them that their work is acknowledging . However, may I suggest if you do subtitle your Videos in addition to VoiceOver, it might be useful to leave the text a tad longer, so one is able to read the full text without pausing the Video. Once again. thank you for sharing this experience with us.

    Your accent sounds English nor American. It's weird. It almost sounds like you're forcing a posh accent but fail. Is this how you normally talk? Or just putting it on for your video?

    • @SO-rq3pm
      @SO-rq3pm ปีที่แล้ว +7

      don't think he did it deliberately, but it's quite a typical accent among rich kids in Hong Kong. BTW, though anyone can do flight review, the fact that he can be a diamond member at such a young age means his parents are wealthy enough to send him to the best schools abroad and travel in business class (at least) so frequently. Hope he understands how lucky he is and be humble and helpful to those who are less fortunate. Earn first-class flights one day using your own finance as a proof of a grown up.

    • @hilpha
      @hilpha 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      As he's speaking English as a second language (first being Cantonese) one can imagine he has picked up different accents from other kids at international school in Hong Kong.

    Cathay's first class seats reminds me about the house in the 90s. Although they are dated compared to the modern options, they are spacious, comfy, subtle, well-ordered, aged but got class. Of course, modern options are well more refined, hi-tech and gimmicky, but it doesn't mean that the old one are significantly inferior by comparison. Hopefully Cathay's new first class in the future can carry those goodies into their design and somehow back from S-Tier again. Good review btw!

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love how you describe it as reminding you about the houses in the 90s, haha. I hope they can get some innovative products in the next few years... Honestly, the Business Class seats on their 777-300ER look really a bit old with very irresponsive TV...

    First, it is great to have an operational upgrade in First. It seems you really enjoyed it. Second, it is great to see the FAs behaving more natural and genuinely hospitable bringing those CX experiences from the past which made them mx favourite airline to fly. I hope in my next CX flight to encounter such hospitable FAs remembering me the past glory CX had.

    Hey 😊! Noel Philips another trip reporter on YT just did a video on Cathay, he said it was horrible, the airline was tired, and the food was sub par in business class. Your video looks completely different in first class and much improved from what Noel experienced. The staff on the flight sounded amazing. I guess my concern with Cathay is that it looks like their flights aren’t consistent since COVID. I love how you have the flight log and you gave her the macaroons ❤. Btw nice sweater!

      I saw that vid, and I think he was so biased from his previous CX trip, when he vowed “never to take a Cathay flight ever again”. The crew was super nice on his flight, but he complained about everything. About the CX rest rooms being small (when in fact it’s a bit bigger compared to other carriers), complained about announcements being in several languages (umm, isn’t that a good thing, so that everyone could understand what’s going on?). Granted, food can be a hit or miss, but he sorta was set out to be negative about the whole experience. It was a short flight and he complained about the lack of amenity kits or a comforter - other regional carriers do it like that as well.

    This is an experience which I hope Cathay bring to more of their flights post-pandemic. They are understaffed and have much pressure on the ground and in the air post-pandemic. This flight crew are the perfect example of personal, professional and relaxed service which makes the flight a true experience. I flew HKG to TPE in Business and had a different experience to you but if this is evidence, they should be back on the rise. Great video and look forward to the next one!

    Have you encountered a Filipina cabin crew on Cathay Pacific or not? When the A340-600s were around you will encounter them on JFK-HKG rare cases HKG-MNL with A330-300s 44 seats business 267 economy or long haul B747-467s. When it comes to Taiwanese Mandarin speaking crews they can understand your Written text since Both Hong Kong and Taiwan use Traditional Chinese characters.
    Regarding B777-367/ERs they beat a B777-3F6/ER on HKG-MNL. You should try Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Class or Fiesta Class their economy class product to Manila and compare them to their Cathay Pacific versions. Commenting from EWR and customer of the Airline for 21 years since my first flight CX904 MNL-HKG

    As a Diamond Plus member of Cathay based in U.S., I wouldn't say the punishments to those crews are not harsh at all under the common law system. They literally deserve it. If Cathay is a US-based airline, those crews would certainly face a much severe punishment than simply getting fired since THIS IS DISCRIMINATION.

  • @divenkey9458
    @divenkey9458 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Discriminating against passengers is absolutely unacceptable behavior. This is a fundamental requirement and personal conduct as a flight attendant. Of course, you may think the punishment for such actions is excessive because you haven't experienced discrimination this time. However, if you face discrimination next time, you will have no right to complain either.
