Weeds been legal in Colorado since 2012 and it's been great for me. As someone who suffers from chronic pain, it has been a godsend. It's super controlled here, you gotta be 21, can only buy an ounce at a time, how it's packaged and sold is under strict regulations and the employees who work there take it very seriously (you even need special licensing to work at a dispensary.) It's pumping a ton of money into the state and even though these businesses are under strict financial regulations (can't have bank accounts because it isn't federally legal), these companies are flourishing. Even celebrities are jumping on board to make some profit. I hope Canada can benefit from this as much as Colorado has.

I live in Maine where it’s legal, but we don’t have retail locations and you can’t exchange “anything of value” for it until these retail locations are set up next year. Delivery services have this loophole where you pay like $75 for someone to deliver a “free gift” - so you’re not paying for weed, you are paying for the services of a person to bring you the weed. I've driven high, drunk, high AND drunk. The difference between them is driving high takes too long to get anywhere and driving drunk the road won't stay still. Also people from the U.S. where it's legal in your state, does driving high count as driving under the influence?
It's iffy. obviously they put it out there, drive high get a dui. but you'd have to be REALLY fucking high to have any course really taken for it. But it's definitely possible to get a big one if you're not careful.
Here in Colorado they take driving under any influence very serious. So it's a DUI under any substance, even prescription meds can get the cuffs slapped on. Also the courts here prosecute to the full extend of the law for a DUI so we're talking a day or two of jail time (or 30 days of house arrest) on top of the other court ordered punishments.

It is a bigger problem that you "drunks"(were I to mimic the earlier generalization of pot heads) are contributing to an extremely unsafe atmosphere in various, and often expansive, niches of society. So, before you decide to lump your city's trashy and substance-abusive culture together with everyone who smokes pot(including those who dont do it for the high, but for its medical properties(including those who dislike the high and have no other option)), just think about how many lives booze has saved or prolonged versus marijuana. If you decided to read this, here's a little story: When I was a Sophomore in High School I was a part of the stoner group. This group was opposed to substance abuse beyond Marijuana and really got into why it ought to be legal for everyone(and also why it should be legalized the correct way). Well, I fell off from the group with a couple of PC nerds, brothers, and we shared enough common interest that I showed them the Two Best Friends Play Skyrim Machinima. The first one, which was brand new. We, being stoned on occasion, would literally die of laughter at the videos because they were SO DUMB. Matt and Pat, to us, seemed to also be high on that dank kush. I actually believed that until I started watching TheSw1tcher for a while, then realized that wasnt the case at all. They're just entertaining. So that kind of anchored me to them, knowing just how funny they are. Shame that weed is seen as this cumbersome and taboo sin, reserved for only the lowest in society... kind of the opposite impression made in 2018 as was made in that Machinima episode. Huh. Also, I smoke due to a stomach disease which triggers some auto-immune response on the inner lining of my stomach, causing bleeding and secretion of white blood cells(pus). I could take Opioids to manage my symptoms, and necessitate other drugs to manage the detrimental side effects of taking them, but weed is the jack-of-all-trades and allows my stomach to relax, those responses to diminish, my appetite to return, for me to sleep, and for me to live. I basically owe my livelihood to weed. I hate getting "high". It doesn't feel even remotely close to what an infrequent smoker experiences. Instead, I just get a bit groggy and lose out in productivity. I don't perform tasks worse, just at a decreased rate. I apologize to everyone I've ever offended with my stupidity for that, though.

BC is crazy dude, its become a quick monopoly for grow sites and alot of dispensaries are being pressured out of their buildings by the government - some are being forced to shut - some are just being pressured to in order to created more of a vacuum and alot of store are going under because of it. also prices are being increased immensely for a grade of weed that will probably be lesser in quality. i think people were a little to prepared in the BC provincial government and had money on the brain because they industrialised that shit fast as fuck boi

I've driven high, drunk, high AND drunk. The difference between them is driving high takes too long to get anywhere and driving drunk the road won't stay still.
Also people from the U.S. where it's legal in your state, does driving high count as driving under the influence?
It's iffy. obviously they put it out there, drive high get a dui. but you'd have to be REALLY fucking high to have any course really taken for it. But it's definitely possible to get a big one if you're not careful.
Here in Colorado they take driving under any influence very serious. So it's a DUI under any substance, even prescription meds can get the cuffs slapped on. Also the courts here prosecute to the full extend of the law for a DUI so we're talking a day or two of jail time (or 30 days of house arrest) on top of the other court ordered punishments.

With all due respect, I think you lot have meme-levels of knowledge about MJ. Maybe it's because you live in a melting pot of humanity, or maybe it's because once upon a time you tried a weed and were not impressed, perhaps with big expectations. But, the manner in which that discussion went, with a big generalization that pot heads are less intelligent, is unforgivable. I would go so far as to say that you three know absolutely nothing about weed apart from hearsay and anecdotal stories about people you knew. You do not give it the respect it deserves, along with everyone involved in Canada's legalization process; the medicinal value has been all but forgotten in favor of harping on people, who are destined by their own nature, to abuse subtances.
Weed doesnt make you dumb unless you smoke it sporadically/on occassion and therefore do not build a physiological resistance to its negative effects... the same is true of literally any potent substance. Abuse occurs once a person starts making lifestyle compromises in order to stay high, and those people certainly do not represent marijuana users as a whole. You guys bring up the moral contradiction in this legislation without accepting why it is an issue; booze is sold on every other street corner and contributes to many documented cases of domestic violence and disorderly conduct. It is a bigger problem that you "drunks"(were I to mimic the earlier generalization of pot heads) are contributing to an extremely unsafe atmosphere in various, and often expansive, niches of society.
So, before you decide to lump your city's trashy and substance-abusive culture together with everyone who smokes pot(including those who dont do it for the high, but for its medical properties(including those who dislike the high and have no other option)), just think about how many lives booze has saved or prolonged versus marijuana. Is that even possible? Probably not as long as Montreal has its druggies, and give a completely asinine reputation to the substance(which it doesnt deserve as I have probably pointed out).

If you decided to read this, here's a little story: When I was a Sophomore in High School I was a part of the stoner group. This group was opposed to substance abuse beyond Marijuana and really got into why it ought to be legal for everyone(and also why it should be legalized the correct way). Well, I fell off from the group with a couple of PC nerds, brothers, and we shared enough common interest that I showed them the Two Best Friends Play Skyrim Machinima. The first one, which was brand new. We, being stoned on occasion, would literally die of laughter at the videos because they were SO DUMB. Matt and Pat, to us, seemed to also be high on that dank kush. I actually believed that until I started watching TheSw1tcher for a while, then realized that wasnt the case at all. They're just entertaining. So that kind of anchored me to them, knowing just how funny they are. Shame that weed is seen as this cumbersome and taboo sin, reserved for only the lowest in society... kind of the opposite impression made in 2018 as was made in that Machinima episode. Huh.
Also, I smoke due to a stomach disease which triggers some auto-immune response on the inner lining of my stomach, causing bleeding and secretion of white blood cells(pus). I could take Opioids to manage my symptoms, and necessitate other drugs to manage the detrimental side effects of taking them, but weed is the jack-of-all-trades and allows my stomach to relax, those responses to diminish, my appetite to return, for me to sleep, and for me to live. I basically owe my livelihood to weed. I hate getting "high". It doesn't feel even remotely close to what an infrequent smoker experiences. Instead, I just get a bit groggy and lose out in productivity. I don't perform tasks worse, just at a decreased rate. I apologize to everyone I've ever offended with my stupidity for that, though.
