    One pro of having a service dog: if they have a vest with pockets, you can smuggle your snacks without breaking a sweat 😂

    I work at an AMC in Texas and I would like to tell you some things that the crew will do to make you the most comfortable with coming to our movie theater.
    1. It is the ushers' (sometimes the managers') job to clean the theater.
    2. We will generally ask the required questions and another one: How can we help for you have the best experience possible?
    3. If we need to, the crew will (or at least me) help you get yourself and your dog outside by making sure no one comes near and interfeers with you or your dog.

    Unless it's a Fast and Furious movie or something Disney my boy is pretty much sleeping the WHOLE MOVIE. Oh and when we watched a Star Trek marathon at a drive in last week. He is fully alert and watching the movie on his base cleft yoga mat

    Thank you so much for this vlog. I've yet to go to the movies with my Service Dog, Zoey. She's been great everywhere else, but I wasn't sure about seating, crowds, and what to expect.
    Your experience helped us a lot, and now I feel more confident in going on movie dates with my +1.
    Not gonna lie, it became more pressing to know, when someone asked me to go to the movies with them.
    Zoey and I went to a bar on crazy noisy music night, and she laid on the floor and almost fell asleep; so I have a ton of confidence in her.
    Thanks to you and Bugsy for keeping us all informed and entertained. :)

    The movies is where I have the least amount of trouble with my dog but on the other hand the grocery store is the most trouble i'm thinking on getting the no touch no talk no eye contact patch*

    Thank you so much for your vlog. They are really helping me out. I'm starting the long and expensive process of working towards getting an SD, learning how to train an SD, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can NOW about it and what I'm letting myself in for. So, I really appreciate the effort you are putting into this. It's nice to hear from someone who has some direct experience.
    If you ever get a chance, I love amusement parks and my husband and I go to Disneyland every year. I could really use some tips about what to do at amusement parks.
    Also, are there any places you would NOT take Bugsie to? Besides midnight movies premieres and Black Friday (which I avoid like the plague anyway because I'm a sane person. XD)

      You can train your own service dog. Pet-co really helped me with training. Because, I couldn't afford places that sell them to you. Train them as a Service dog for you.

      Dont take him anywhere that might be a hazard to the dog. I don't like taking him to very crowded places where he'll get stepped on.

    You don't babble! My SDiT and I went to big hero 6 as his first movie, and he did great. There was a dog cartoon at the beginning that he talked back to, but after that it was fine. The movie was empty, so it was ok. Yesterday we saw "into the woods", and he was scared of the witch, but rested when I whispered it was ok. Our hand signals come in handy in the theater!

    I have not yet been to a movie with my sdit but am hoping to very soon. I think it may be beneficial to choose seats in the row where wheelchair seating is available or closer to the exit but still out of the way. obviously don't take the wheelchair seating if you dont need it but often there are seats along the same row

    absolutely love this video, I struggle with taking Walter to the movies, people step on him, he gets up in the middle of a movie and eats peoples nachos (doesn't help that he's a black dog in a dark theater) and after an hour he growls at me because he doesn't want to be in there anymore, i'm definitely going to try your suggestions next time

    I have terrible anxiety, and shake no matter where I go. But, if someone hurts me I will have a panic attack, however someone hurts my dog well, they might as well book their hospital bed there and then (last time I ever go out late and with no human to help out)

    Ok so this may sound like a weird question haha. my service dog does great at movies, he just sleeps through the whole thing. However, he snores. Loudly. Usually if it's an action movie or something that is really loud, no one can hear him, but other then that it (in my opinion) is quite obvious. Do you have any tip to stop his snoring? Or should just not even worry about it?

    Sam (chihuahua SD), is calm at the theatre. Sometimes she will sleep other times she's on alert, I get triggered easily so she is constantly comforting or staring at me. I'm used to it. I usually sit in the very front and will allow her to do DPT until the movie starts because I'm so anxious or she will tuck away on her mat under my seat. Yucky floors at my movie theaters. I haven't had an issue but I do go during morning hours.

    • @colormezebra2841
      @colormezebra2841 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shelby Hohler it is not called DPT when a Chihuahua is on your lap. They aren't heavy enough to perform that task correctly. So it would actually be considered an emotional support purpose (Anxiety calming) not an actual Service Dog task. Check out ADA website for this.

    Hazel (my Service dog) She sleeps through it all no matter what movie i go see or she just looks around being bored. i never had a problem with her (one of the few lucky traits i have with her) i've had problems with access at movie theater before Which is annoying and frustrating but hey its how it is! most times i go i'm wheelchair bound. so the extra time i ALWAYS have to do. but thanks for the tips

    In terms of mutt muffs etc. the volume of sounds in a cinema are near enough damaging to human ears, so tbh I would recommend using them for dogs, no matter if you dog will sleep through it or not- it's better safe than sorry?

    I've only had one weird experience w my service dog at the theatre. It was the max movie my mom me my son and my dog and one other person across the room were the only ones in the theatre and she grumbled a times which is an at for when someone or something is approaching me but I looked all around and never seen anything. It was weird and kinda creeped us out lol we were like is someone hiding in here waiting to ambush us. She's never done this at the theatre before.

    (I'm writing on my husband's post, we kinda share.) I am training my own service dog, she will be 2 years old June 6th. Her name is Koda and she is also an Australian Shepherd like yours, that's what brought me to your TH-cam videos and I am really enjoying them. I have a lot to learn. I haven't taken Koda to the movies yet, a little concerned about how she'll behave. She's an angel at restaurants, quiet as can be. Sundays at church, she's unpredictable and whines off and on sometimes. She used to be quiet there also, don't know what happened. At home watching movies with the sound system turned up, she sleeps through it. I really would like to try to take her to the movies. What would you suggest? Zandra Nilsen
    PS:How do I become a Facebook friend? Do you still accept friends?

    • @razzleberrycat
      @razzleberrycat 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thor Nilsen Has your church recently changed or updated their microphone/speakers for the pastors, etc? Could there be a technical glitch causing a mechanical whine too high pitched for you to hear?
      Are you experiencing more stress at church than you used to? Could she be attempting to alert you to a reaction in yourself?
      Or it could simply be that she's had enough of church and just doesn't want to put up with it anymore for whatever reason. Of course they aren't "service robots", and no dog is perfect. :)

    I'm new to this whole consept of ESA's. You have an ESA right? So if you have an emotional support dog and not like a service dog for hearing or something like that could they still go with you? I was just wondering the different limits that they have compared to service dogs for other disabilities.

    • @Dogsonapath
      @Dogsonapath 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, she has a service dog. ESA's are not allowed in public places where pet dogs are not allowed. ESA's basically have zero public access like a pet dog. The only advantage is that landlords can not kick you out in the U.S for having an ESA .

    • @savannahkinser7756
      @savannahkinser7756 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      An ESA is essentially a pet that provides emotional support (love, calming ect). Basically everyone’s animal is an ESA. ESAs do not have public access rights and can only be in dorms, homes ect and can fly (with paperwork) and are not tried to preform a task.
      Service dogs are task trained to migrate a disability. The handler has to have a disability and the service dog is trained to preform a task to help/ less the effects of the disability. Service dog training takes months to years to complete and costs a good deal of money. Service dogs have public access rights and are allowed anywhere the public is allowed.
