I have model very similar to the M-427 and it still works. I'm sure Techmoan would love this video. I always wanted a Sharp Pocket Computer. But at that time I could not afford one. Now I proudly have an HP71B very similar but much more heavier and thicker.
I know the feeling; back when these things were "new", I was still in school and couldn't afford any either. I got a bit lucky with the 1403: it was basically on sale at the end of its life cycle in a local electronics shop. I didn't really need it then, but just had to get it.
Thanks! I am glad that the 1403 was new when I got it - it didn't need any restoration. But finding the printer unit was a stroke of luck. I recommend saving searches in ebay - every now and then something pops up!
Sharp couldn’t put a tape drive in the expansion unit ? 90s electronics design is a perpetual puzzle to me, innovative yes, seemingly almost deliberately difficult to use as well.
I think some models of these adapter or docking stations had a tape unit integrated. It was most likely a cost saving offering. Back when everybody had a tape deck to begin with, it was easeier and cheaper to use adapter cables. Also, most offices had dictation devices around for meetings. While it seems strange from today's perspective, I can see the resoning back when.
Your puppet is adorable and you do great content. Love it man!

I am very glad to see that your new e-clip breeding program is going well!
They grow up so fast and leave the house though... :P
Sir, I salute your dedication and restoration effort. Incredible! I own a Casio Fx-850P and still hoping to find accessories for it. *big smile
