Congrats to the new players chosen George Bell, Cortez Ratima, Billy Proctor, Wallace Sititi, Pasilio Tosi and recalls for Emoni Narawa, Patrick Tuipulotu and TJ Perenara very well deserved. This is only the squad picked for the England/Fiji games I expect to see players like Ruben Love, Peter Lakai and Hoskins Sotutu chosen for the Rugby Championship and end of year tour.

I think Scott said it when he told media he chose the loose forwards for being good on both sides of the ball and mentally tough. Satutu goes missing when he gets bullied, just watch his games against Crusaders. Apart from locks, that’s a good forward pack. Best front row I’ve seen in a very long time

A lot of people are surprised about some of his picks but this is him building a team for the next World Cup I’d say
Some pretty odd picks to be honest. I think it leans too much on experienced players. Not sure about the schedule this year, but they need to look at new blood sooner than later. The locking picks are crazy tbh, they need another specialist now. Foz made the mistake of not getting certain players in there earlier, hopefully it won’t be repeated by Razor. If they get back to a winning culture though then it makes it easier to bring some of the untested guys in I suppose.
IMHO...The ABs haven’t played since the last World Cup whereas England have played as a group in the Six Nations & then against Japan on the way to NZ. As Razor said, this is a squad for the upcoming 3 matches. All due respect but playing Fiji in San Diego, I would expect the ABs to win with any (reasonable) team & San Diego will be used as a bit of ‘bonding’ session so the ‘squad’ for the first 2 games against England was basically chosen as the starting 15 & the 8 on the bench. Those 23 would be have been picked on experience & availability to best beat England. The remaining 9 are covers based on potential injury in the next 2 weeks. The introduction/development of new players will be done in both/either the Rugby Championship Squad or the End of Year Squad. This is the first step of many in the next 4 years when a few players will come & go based on injury, form, tactics etc.
@lovemysport7902 that's a fair assessment and you're right about it probably being a horses for courses thing. I still think Jason Ryan influencing that locking selection decision too much though. Bit of a worry too that after another year of SRP they still have problems at lock and centre.

Great to see that crusaders bias starting early. Hoskins played a whole super rugby campaign and finals while Blackadder played 1 game. I mean even George bell got in like come on at least not be too obvious.
