Per Scott Joss, "Among the treasures I found were these two items...the promo picture for the band, The Sidemen, and the letter Merle wrote to be included in our band promo material...We were the band that opened for all the acts that came to play Silverthorn Resort on Lake Shasta when Merle owned it in the early 80's...for some reason he really liked us...he, and various Strangers, would regularly come play with us during the weeknights when they were home from the road...
The Sidemen were, Randy Sloan (guitar, fiddle, vocals), Kevin Williams (bass, vocals), Henry Palkes (piano), Blair Camp (drums, vocals)...and me (Scott Joss). The time we played together is still indelibly etched in my memory...I'm sure if you asked any of them they would all say our time at "the lake" was one of the best...ever.
Sadly, we lost Kevin a few years back. Some of you will remember he played with the Strangers for a good many years during the early to mid 2000's..
