Very good list! I'm 17 and live in Germany and unfortunately it's extremely difficult to get some of these books (some of these books are extremely difficult to get here, whatever, have a delivery time of 1 year +/-, are extremly expensive or the shipping costs are more expensive than the books combined). But well, it's definitely a success when I get my hands on one of these books and can read it, it's always a lot of fun. Thank you for the recommendations!
Also, some books I'd personally say should be required reading for any filmmaker though they're not related to film: Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Letters from a Stoic by Seneca The Peregrine by J. A. Baker The Poetic Edda Eastern Approaches by Fitzroy Maclean Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy Every Man For Himself and God Against All by Werner Herzog Also, Show Your Work by Austin Kleon. A beautiful little book that's helped me out tremendously.
Great video Jiayang, I've read most of these but the others I didn't even know existed. Thanks! I second sculpting in time but also watch every Tarkovsky before reading the book to get the most out of it.
❤❤Love you all the way from Rwanda, Africa. May consider giving us the list of film schools which offer full scholarship to international students like I. ❤Biggest Fan❤
