I like how this is said, there's something special about a soundtrack when you *always* get some form of a visual mentally from the first few seconds. and of course, John brought it back to life for us as well
Kakariko Village is not only nostalgic to me who played Ocarina of Time during my early days of gaming, but its music is what I call peaceful. I would always visit the village just to hear this song
I have played Zelda for 35 years and classical guitar for 25 years. This is without any doubt the best and most fluid kakariko village on the classical guitar!
These videos feel like you went on an adventure when you were 10 years old. It took a while but you completed it and life went back to normal. But you met all these people, heard all this music, and remember all these things about it. Now hearing different songs and seeing videos of that adventure reminds you of being a kid. I think my brain can't discern the difference between the real life experience of being a kid, and playing Ocarina of Time back then.
Music is so powerful in the way it can trigger distant memories. I think video game music is even more effective as it ties the music to something more tangible. Cheers to the memories! 🍻
@@JohnOethGuitar I agree, i think ti's because a movie doesn't feel like an experience but a video game does. So it's like listening to a song on repeat on a vacation and not listening to it after. It's kind of crazy.
It's pieces like this that make me want to learn how to play classic guitar... but then I watch how it's done and realize that it would take many more years than I have left to do so. Thank you very much for sharing these beautiful arrangements.
your dynamics are incredible, the way he moves his right hand to capture all the colors in the music, every classical guitarist knows how difficult this is... amazing
Mine, too. I grew up with the N64, so the game and soundtrack hit a special nostalgic spot. I'm working towards a Zelda album but I still have a good bit to go.
@@JohnOethGuitar that album will be amazing and if it’s something you plan to put out for people to purchase, I’m definitely gonna be one of em, your guitar skill is amazing and the fact you play video game music just adds to the awesomeness! Again keep it up man, love the videos!!
I love this. I'm surprised it doesn't have more likes. It's so beautiful yet very calming. Even the ducks enjoyed it and that is saying a lot of things for how great this is. ❤️
Great rendition! I played through OoT for the first time ever this past winter. Kakariko village is one of my favorite musical pieces in the game. This is amazingly done!
Wonderful as always, brother! ❤ Would you mind telling me how you capture your sound like this, cancelling all outdoor noise? I absolutely love the atmosphere of your videos and always wondered about this...
@@JohnOethGuitar thanks for the fast reply! Wow, my mom was close cuz she also guessed Nevada. I went to Hawaii with a former girlfriend in 2018 and indeed it was beautiful! We went snorkeling in Oahu. I also wanna say that I've been binge listing to your music and put a lot of your stuff in several playlists including one for my mom. I LOVE it! It inspired me to bring out the ol' Flamenco Cordoba GK Negra of mine and man, it's been such a treat to play! I'm not as great as you but our style is similar. I'd love to learn how to play chords and melody at the same better. I hope this doesn't come across badly, but I have a channel where I've posted some music. If you're interested, my song, Every Now And Then James Marshall Fox, is one of my better pieces. I would massively appreciate any feedback! Lastly, I hope you and your wife are doing well and have a great year and get overwhelmed with peace and healing. Cheers! 🙏
@@JohnOethGuitar Oh! I just thought of a song recommendation for you. Would you consider doing an arrangement of something from the Kirby games? I played Kirby's Air Ride with friends as a kid and I don't think I've ever heard any guitarist play from it's OST. Would be cool! Anyway, when is the best time to catch a livestream? Would be cool to get more involved in your community -Marshall
This is super well done! If you dont mind me asking, why did you hold off on recording/releasing this? Ive been playing this arrangement from your tabs for a while now!
Thanks! Mostly just due to quality control. I arranged it a while ago, but i wanted to return to it and change some subtle things that would make it flow better.
Hi John Thank you for sharing your youtube channel with me this morning at the park. You have been truly gifted. Will see you again as I walk. Take care and God bless!
Have you by chance changed the pitch of the audio? Or downstep tuned the guitar? I know there is a capo, but the pitch of the note doesn't seem to line up visually with how you are playing, unless there is something wrong with me haha (very possible).
1:33 awww! Those cute ducks in the background!
Classic calming song. The music always gave you a hint of the kind of place you were at.

Yes. That and being eaten alive by chickens.

So beautiful and soothing. The lovely ducks look like they enjoyed your music. I'm glad they weren't angry cuccos!
I really appreciate the slight changes you made in the arpeggios. This is a classic tune but you made it sound new. Beautiful!
Love the shot with the ducks going by toward the end. Fit the mood perfectly. Great cover, John!
Thanks, man!! If only they were chickens haha
amazing job! thank you
So soothing, I would love more Nintendo covers
this is so inspiring
Very sweet take on that emblematic Zelda track John
Love how smooth and effortless your playing always is. Great scenery too.
This song remind me chilhood and home back! ❤
It's wild how music can trigger the most distant memories. Have a great week!

My favourite after Lon Lon ranch, I love the ducks coming to listen in the background. Happy cucos 🐔
Lon Lon Ranch will come in the future, hopefully. It is also one of my favorites.

John, love you 🎸
I justgot a copy of Ocarina, so I'll probably be learning to play some Zelda songs on my mandolin and harmonica soon
Oooh that sounds fun!
Great job 👍
Hey John, beautiful arrangement! My mom and I were wondering if you recorded this in Hawaii but that mountain reminds her of it.
Thanks!
I wish! This is shot in Phoenix, Arizona. My wife and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it was the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

@Foxymus I've just upgrade my setup and plan on streaming soon. I think I'm becoming under the weather so it may be more than a week.
When will this be uploaded to your Spotify because this needs to be added to the Playlist I have on repeat every day
It definitely will eventually. I may put it up as a single in the near future. Thanks for listening!
@JohnOethGuitar I hope that near future is this afternoon 😆. Seriously, this is awesome and has inspired me to dust off the the old git picker

Which Guitar Support have you got there? It looks really minimal and clean, I like it.
This is the Gitano guitar support. I think it runs for about $35 and can found on Strings By Mail. Cheers!

This is Drop D capo 3, if I recall.
Do people in public recognize your songs?
Rarely. I had someone recognize Sight of Spira from Final Fantasy X recently. They chilled and listened for the whole shoot.
It really sounds like a doo wop ballad
Wonderful playing... Now shoot the sun with a arrow!
