Blackwell traps Cassie and Diana in a circle spelled with dark magic so they can't escape. He reveals his real plans is not to help kill the witch hunters, it's to build a circle filled with dark magic witches. Cassie and Diana try to escape but the spell is too strong for Cassie's dark magic alone so she forces Diana to activate her dark magic so they can break the seal on the spell and take down Blackwell.

They did too much too fast and the plot got so convoluted... They really should've slowed down and had the events of season 1 span over at least two seasons. Season one should've been more of them learning about their powers and their history, trying to master it, etc. Make their main problem throughout the season witch hunters. Then in season 2 introduce Blackwell and the concept of dark magic, etc. Then maybe season 3 introduce the other Balcoin witches. I really liked the show but I know a lot of people who stopped watching because they felt it was just getting ridiculous.
Matt Hutcherson I hated the John Blackwell story line they could’ve just made Cassie and Diana sisters without all of that and also it wasn’t just views apparently production cost was too much was also a factor of cancellation which is stupid to do a show about witches and not have the funds to do it 🙄

I bet the only reason this show got cancelled was because people kept comparing it to other supernatural shows, such as Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. If only people gave it a chance, then there probably would have been a second season.

I heard the show was canceled due to low ratings and high production cost. In the end i do think the creators eventually took what they learned on this show and applied to later seasons of the originals and vampire diaries.

This show had so much potential luckily most of the actors got better roles in the future, Britt Robinson did some pretty good movies, Phoebe became Hayley Marshall on TVD and The Originals, Shelley Hennig joined Teen Wolf, Jessica Parker Kennedy became XS on the The Flash, Chris Zylka did The Amazing Spider-Man as Flash Thompson and almost married Paris Hilton… I like to think this was a stepping stone for all of them and their careers just took off, this show is badass with an amazing storyline 🤌🎥🍿💯
Chris Zylka was supposedly going to be on AHS too but he refused since it requires him to buzz his head. Ironically, he got a buzz cut in The Amazing Spiderman.
Thomas Decker is like one of the few who didn't do as much after. His husband is hot though so like props to him.

Budget? where? I didn't see a lot of special effects. The big problem is stunts especially when people get thrown around or the fire. I think the problem is they didn't get ratings in the performed areas. Phoebe Tonkin joined Vampire Diaries after The Secret Circle was shut down
I feel like the show was so good but the writing was that great. It’s the only thing that I’d improve and I’m sure it would have if given the chance. The dialogue is just a little clunky and the spells sound kinda silly. When compared to its counterpart Vampire Diaires, the spells that Bonnie and other TVD witches do are more mysterious and mystical. I still loved it and wished it wasn’t canceled.
I want this show revived but the actors have outgrown these roles. I feel as though there should be a fresh cast and reboot the whole thing. Condense the season 1 story and move to season 2 quicker. Man, it’s sad though. TSC had TVD level potential but CW wanted to make the Arrowverse
they didn't have the money or the views honestly what do you expect? I just finished it myself and I want a season 2 as well but it's not the CW's fault and even so its too late for a season 2 and I never have been a fan of reboots and new characters replacing the original actors. Those original actors are Faye and etc so having new faces always been a no for me but that's just me, if new people start watching It and we keep protesting for one to Netflix then maybe but idk

I love when Cassie & Diana learned that their father John Blackwell planned to kill witches that didn't have balcoin blood & Cassie & Diana work together & used the crystal skull to kill John Blackwell & saved their friends & I'm glad that Melissa, Adam, jake, Faye, Diana, & Cassie all had their solo magic back & at least they were free to use their powers whenever they wanted to in the secret circle season 1 finale

Not really it took her awhile to activate her magic even when the crystal was forming in the water Cassie felt it immediately and was drawn to the power surging through her body and went into the water then that’s when her dad said hurry and grab it while it’s still forming right and Cassie activated her magic her first time in the brink of danger or what not Diana in the other hand had plenty of scary moments and nothing came out until all the way at the end where Cassie was choking her with her magic cuz Diana never really got hurt like that and she bursted out a scream of pure black magic and even then she was not happy about the dark magic she didn’t feel good how Cassie and Adam felt at the end of the show touching the crystal skull and she even said I felt the dark magic I don’t wanna feel that again so I’m not saying she’s weak but Diana came in the first episode pushing everyone to bound the circle she was organized , nice , had high standards for her self and presented as such but all that what she went through and what was revealed to her it scared her and cut her connection to magic she lost so much people 2 of her dads are wicked she only saw a glimpse of her mom and Cassie took her boyfriend but she up in her face talking bout I’m your sister like it’s hard for her so she left but she’s definitely not stronger than Cassie but some one else from blawcoin blood could be stronger than Cassie but we didn’t get to meet them and Cassie knew her limits with the dark magic to she’s lucky it didn’t chew her up cuz she used it frequently to save a lot of times and the more you use it the more powerful and more you feed it to it and the end it showed her playing with fire and Adam playing with the skull so dark power overrides you if you let it and Diana didn’t so for that she’s stronger mentally :)
Hate it got cancelled wish it had 8 season then that way we could see an amazing show

I finally finished watching this TV show a few weeks ago because I wanted to watch the TV show again and Last night I dreamt about everyone in the circle in my dream last night and the night before that and it was pretty awesome dreaming about everyone in the TV show being in my dreams for the past 2 nights. The first dream that I dreamt about was us doing magic and there was like demons trying to kill us and our circle was bound together so we had to stick together to use magic so yeah and the dreamed I dreamt last night was zombies or something or and earthquake Idk? But everyone in the circle was in that dream as well so yeah best 2 dreams I've ever had lol 😆 But the parents weren't in my dream only the teenagers were only Cassie, Diana, Faye, Adam, Melissa, Jake was in my dream but Jake's little brother Nick was in my dream a little bit though but yeah 🙂

This show wasn't bad except the few cringe moments, like the high school pregnancies. But I would've loved to see a season 2 and the continuation of the story.
Yeah I noticed that they all were prego but that was johns fault he casted a spell to make the girl pregnant guaranteed they all had boyfriends and were intimate and he was young at the time to so it didn’t mean nothing to him

I read the books as a teen and had a hard time with all the differences that came about in the tv version. I didn't actually tune in again until I it started airing on Chiller. IMO, the show was just starting to heat up. Just took a while to find it's footing. Sad that it had to be axed before it hit a stride. Never watched Vampire Diaries but I don't get the comparisons to Supernatural. I like Sam and Dean but that show jumped the shark 3 seasons ago. Lets be honest.

Something that I don't understand is how there are four other black well children did John get four other women pregnant not while being not in Cassie and Diana's lives or does black well have siblings that have kids this all so confusing to me.
Yes. John slept around and got 4 other women pregnant besides Cassie and Diana's moms. All 6 are half-siblings carrying dark Blackwell magic. Not only did he physically sire those offspring, but he also caused the rest of the women in Cassie's mom's circle the get pregnant, plus all the women in at most 4 other circles to get pregnant as well to create a complete generation of 5 new circles (6 members each). I say five, because both Cassie and Diana are in the same circle. That leaves 4 other circles where presumably the Blackwell heir in each of their respective circles stole all the magic from their other 5 circle members once they were bound; what John tried to do in this clip.

wow some of these actors are really bad. I mean the show is good but the acting isn't the greatest.
Take consideration that this show didn't heavily rely on green screen effects and CGI enhancement, mostly just practical stunts and especially relying the on the actors ability to impov, which was a nice reprieve. Truthfully a LOT of good magic scenes people love mask how ridiculous the actors look, like they do here. Some are worse than this, but you don't notice since music, sound, and visual FX cover it up.
It's kinda more real this way. If you were living in that would and randomly walked in on some magic going down, all you'd see and hear is just a bunch of staring and grunting. You wouldn't hear a fancy sound effect or music, lol.
