  • Hello everyone!
    Thanks for checking out my video today. This is hopefully the first of a 3rd weekly/biweekly video alongside my regular Saturday tutorials and their Wednesday EXTRAS.
    I had a lot of fun today testing out all these #household items to see what would and wouldn’t #color #resin; my ‘wins’ and ‘bins’. I hope you found it fun and interesting and maybe even useful if you’re in short supply of ‘official’ resin #pigments. Lots of these items worked really well, surprisingly well actually, and I’ve even added some of these items to my supply cupboard!
    I think my favorite discovery was the white #acrylic #paint. I’m not kidding when I say that for me this seemed to work better than actual resin pigment. I’m pretty sure it’s what I’ll be using for all my beachy pieces in the future.
    Some of the items from the kitchen that were ‘bins’ still looked pretty cool like the #coffee and #paprika and even though they didn’t work in terms of #coloring the resin, they still provided #fun effects. Unfortunately all the white options were total fails, although the #toothpaste very nearly worked.
    But I think it was clear that, aside from acrylic #paints, the items that were originally designed to color other things such as #hair and skin worked the best in the resin. I’m so glad I finally tried these out!
    Let me know what you thought of my testing and which was your favorite or most surprising result.

    I love resin and won’t be leaving it behind but I also miss working with other mediums too so will be bringing them back in over the next few weeks.
    Thanks again so much for watching and, as always, drop any comments or questions down below and I’ll be sure to get back to you.
    Happy crafting x

    Thank you, Hannah, I often wondered what would work in resin.

      Me too! It's weird having lipsticks and hair dye amongst my art supplies now 😂

    I liked your kitchen ones the paprika, cinnamon, etc. I think they came out pretty cool. Have you ever tried liquid eye shadow with resin?

      It was really fun to see what happened with them all 😃 no I haven’t, bet that would work well! All the makeup ones seemed to work out so there must be something about their formulas that suit resin 👍🏻❤️

    Very educational- learned a lot. Do you know if you can color left over Hardened resin?

    • @hscraftytutorials
      @hscraftytutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! So once resin has cured, there's no going back and you can no longer mix colours into it. You can paint on top of cured resin though by treating it like any other paintable surface. I hope I answered your question ☺️ x

    What products made the beach one exactly?

    • @hscraftytutorials
      @hscraftytutorials  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kitty. The beach one was made with sand and resin for the base and then a 2nd coat of resin for the waves. I have other videos on my channel of the start to finish process for resin beach projects ☺️❤️

    Would these work with uv resin as well?

    • @hscraftytutorials
      @hscraftytutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn’t try UV resin but the consistency in both products is near enough identical so you should get the same, if not very similar, results ☺️👍🏻

    I didn't get the same results using the paint it wouldn't cure all the way even days later but I did mix it with micro powder other than that I used the same brand did anyone else have this issue too??

      Hi Amanda, I’m wondering if you maybe added a little too much paint so that the paint to resin ratio was a little too high. You should only add a very small amount due to acrylic paints being water based. Hope this helps and thanks very much for watching my video ☺️
