@rj doggman Humans are even more dangerous we are destorying the planet and alot of species were driven to extinction Humans and chimps are the same and just to let you know there are some primitive humans that eat humans so.. Yeah
For 40 years I have believed that Jane Goodall deserves the Noble Peace Prize for bringing a new understanding of the close parallel between humans and chimps.
"i didnt give them feelings and personality, i merely translated them for people to understand" i know those arent her exact words but i love the concept nonetheless. jane goodall is an amazing lady. she truly is an inspiration.
I loved how she disregarded what others said - she named each chimp (scientists say to give them numbers). I'm thrilled to know the names & stories of her chimps.
It's a shame that in our society today this woman isn't more well known by today's young generation. She is a great person and someone that should be held up higher for young girls and young women to aspire to be, instead of the Kardashians and the Snooki's of today.
What an extraordinary woman to have travelled at such a young age to follow her heart. Curious, intelligent and strong. It would be wonderful to talk to her about anything!
I watched Jane Goodall when i was a child. I was fascinated with her study and did a book report on her story with the chimps. So awesome to watch this today with my son and share the wonderful world of the chimps.
She should be an example for young girls today. All our life is so full of vanity, and our modern world, with reality shows and all this filthy stuff encourage people to be nothing but selfish and ignorant. This woman is a lesson of curiosity, humanity, science and devotion. All my respect, mrs Jane Goodall.
if you were only as concerned with "young boys today" and the lack of role models for them as well. The fixation with giving women a path to follow and rarely if ever giving one to men is baffling, corny and quite pathetic.
I could sit for days just listening to her voice & her wisdom. I love what the gentleman said about seeing a mind matched when looking into their eyes. What a dream it must be to see any of the great apes in their own world, so much to learn!

Currently undecided, Attenborough still has the chance to make the top 5, but for now there's Stephen Fry, Goodall and Malala. Unless we're talking ultimate top 2 which yould be Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, coz there you got a couple of bagshites who sorely need a good well-aimed kick in their knackers.
Olav Kaurin Not sure who Malala is, but Stephen Fry DEFINITELY. What about cosmologists and physicists, like Neil Degress Tyson? (Carl Sagan is dead, so we can't really add him to a list) Also, on the theme of nature or zoology, Richard Dawkins would be another good one. :p
Some of these comments are truly disgusting. I'm the only one here that's actually praising Jane for what she has done. Everyone pretending like they have been around Chimps like Jane has.
Beautiful. Inspiring. It can be watched over and over. And Jane is one of those heroes of humanity. Thanks to all the stars she came along and did what she did.
A Very Very VERY Happy birthday to you Miss Goodall I hope you have A One of a kind Day We love you And thank you very very much For What You have done and what you continue to do for The beautiful Chimpanzees And other Animals who share our Planet.
Absolutely brilliant footage of the chimps playing and Jane Goodall showing how close she is to the chimps. She clearly adores them and she has devoted her life to them. I wish I was more like Jane and able to do travelling 300 days a year to help the chimps. Not many would have this strength and no other person I know who is 76 years old does as much work and travelling as Jane Goodall. She knows its not looking good for chimps now and in the future. We should all support her. When the chimps are gone the poachers will have to poach something else. Why cant they do this now. I personally think the poachers should be allowed to hunt in a controlled manner as you cannot stop them doing this. But definitely not be allowed to hunt endangered animals.
watch her National Geo documentary when she first travels to Africa. She had converse tennis shoes, a plastic tarp, and binoculars. She slept in the forest with a blanket. So many tough guys take 4 season tents, extreme sleeping bags, 4200 hiking boots. I know, I was one of those wooses. Amazing woman.
I visited Kenya and Tanzania back in 1988. The first thing I said as the Great Rift Valley opened up to us outside of Nairobi was "Wow, it's like coming back home." I loved my month in Africa.
Janes' work needs too be preserved and passed on for eternity. Hers among many. Steve Irwin being another who's work needs to be preserved and passed on. These people are invaluable, and we can keep their lessons forever because of the documentation we have.
This is just "true", alive, beautiful. I have to go out of this society, nature was always the one that kept people keep it real. Now we have whole Generations grown up, wich never were realy touched or limited by nature. love Karaviro
I remember her being a very calm and patience person. I think these qualities made her successful in observing chimp behavior, being able to see the details.
Jane Goodall is a hero in my mind.. because of her I learned that chimps are more like us than I originally thought.. the fact the male hunt, go to war, play etc is awesome. I really want to see a chimp and hope they get a home that is protected. Chimps are awesome.

I believe she influenced the study of all other primates and how equally funny and the great personalities they have as well. So many things I'd like to say and ask her. But for now, Thank You Mrs. Goodall for the courageous steps you took in faith knowing there was something even grander out there than she could've possibly have ever imagined and something without her dream we, the ordinary people woud've never known. She's not perfect and there might be many mistakes, that doesn't negate her work and lifetime dedication. Without her, the world would still be knowing so little and less knowledge about them. There will always be people interested in Chimps but nowadays, almost 90% of the World population are more aware about them because of people like Jane. Jane is the perfect epitome of dedication and understanding instead of trying to humanise them. She's the next best thing to perfection, she's the best thing a human can be as a conservationist
She's such a lovely, brilliant, brave woman for her time. I was a 4 yr old chimp myself, when she began her University studies. I remember her chronicles of extended definitions & translations. Her unique hands-on approach to study, observe & articulate it? Was the absolutely the best logical approach to research every facet their behaviors warrantrd. Her props introduced concerned "cause & effect", "action-interaction-reaction, collective reasoning, memory recall, problem solving, verbal & nonverbal communication and every behavior element she identified? She lived everyday within the confines of their natural envronment too. Faulty logic can be risky to flawed or incomplete data? Relocation away from their elements & natural habitat to lab research facilities for study? If you alter any probabities relative to the true nature of it? You'd likely defeat your own human effort & purpose? For the sake of accurate data to support her conclusions & observations, it required undivided dedication, which amounted to years at that secluded camp location. Her approach & methods actually were quite "scientific" in a human sense. She also proved without any doubt, that chimpanzees are us, in every sense of human qualities as we know them! You can't possible imagine all the information she transcribed everyday then edited each evening. She used practical means and got absolute results. She made literally hundreds of these based on quasi human reaction. For instance, remember the mirror she placed out for their investigating amusement? Their individual reactions differed, but were basically, the exact type of reactions we experience. Their every bit what we are, just 2% shy of our chromosomes and brain capacities. They're pretty much closer, relatively speaking, they aren't so distant as "cousins" as the scientific community taught us to assume they were! Not to bore the crap out of anyone, but she was very stern about this situation! Because they deserve as much protection from our own destructive practices! We seem to place thousands of species into early extinction? Their environment, habitat and survival does rely on what we do. They need protections as a high-intelligence species so closely link to our own hominid existence. Did you notice how many times she politely corrected her presenter? Because she's still wasnt fully aware of how they are the mirror of our own image. They are us, but at different primative cognitive levels. I had a serious crush on Jane back in those days! She's as beautiful of a person in every sense I remember! God Bless her for everything she does!
- did it surprise you that they can be so cruel?
- it did, I thought they were like us, but nicer.
- and they're not?
- no, they are just like us.
They must be much better if they can talk and occupy our intelligent. ❤️💕❤️
